What a great suburban Trastevere find. A family owned restaurant since 1945, still operated by the entire family and in-laws. A well run, well priced Italian eatery that serves zambslione. A rarity in Australia today and worth going to this restaurant for, if nothing else!

We returned to dinner at Focolare, a place we used to come to very often in the '70s and '80s. I smiled as soon as I entered: the old neon sign is still exactly as it was back then, as if time had stood still here.
The food is simply fantastic. I had the octopus carpaccio: cooked to perfection, perfect to bite into, with a light lemon-based dressing that brought out the full flavor. Truly brilliant.
Then the beef steak: perfect, with that aroma and grilled flavor that only charcoal can provide—and, let's face it, you can almost only find it this good in Italy. In restaurants in Germany, even at a good Italian restaurant, it often costs double, but the taste is two categories below.
And to finish, a marvel: the Nepi strawberries. Small wild strawberries with a truly incomparable aroma and texture.
In short: a splendid dinner, full of memories and true flavors. 😊

A genuine surprise in the heart of the Monteverde neighborhood. From the outside, it looks like any other trattoria, but inside you'll discover a simple world of delicious and delicate dishes, the freshest fish, and sublime desserts. My heartfelt congratulations—you won't find such cuisine everywhere in the capital. The zabaglione is a must, but the cod meatballs and fish main courses are also mouth-watering. 😋

You truly feel at home at Il Focolare, not only for the food and five-star service, but also for the welcoming family atmosphere of these exquisite establishments, run by people who have always dedicated themselves with passion and professionalism to the restaurant business.
