14/04/2026: An excellent restaurant in Matera's old town. We were seated upstairs in a charming, large vaulted room.
Both the appetizers and our main courses were delicious—the only slight drawback was that one of the dishes was far too salty. Superb Italian wine list.
Highly recommended.

08/04/2026: We dined at Soul Kitchen Matera as a couple and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
The atmosphere is stylish yet relaxed – ideal for a cozy dinner for two. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant without being intrusive.
The food was of outstanding quality: fresh, creative, and perfectly balanced in flavor. You can tell that the chefs cook with passion. We were particularly impressed by the beautiful presentation and the harmonious aromas.
The price-performance ratio is also excellent.
We would gladly return and wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

The space is divided into two L-shaped rooms; the larger one is crowded, while the other is significantly better, except for the table near the internal door, which definitely needs to be eliminated. A bit overpriced, especially for wine: a glass costs €10-15...
10/05/2026: We came from Mexico, arriving in Matera hungry and without a reservation (many places in Italy require one). We went in here and it was fantastic. Even though I come from the American continent where we eat a lot of meat, I can assure you that I ate the best meat of my life at this restaurant—so much so that I ordered seconds!

The exterior is that of a wine bar, but upon entering, you realize you're experiencing the Lucanian food and wine tradition, expertly brought to the table with superlative dishes. Thanks to the limited seating, there's a familiar and relaxed atmosphere. From this experience (which I'll definitely repeat as soon as I can), I'm taking home a Murano glass grappa we purchased at this precious place. I thank the owners for their helpfulness and sincere smiles. See you next time! 🤗

A generous platter, incredibly fresh ingredients, and you can immediately taste the quality: everything tastes authentic, just like homemade. The softest mozzarellas, the flavorful cheeses, accompanied by perfect fruit and jams.

21/03/2026: The hotel is located in a beautiful spot, close to the highway exit, making it a great place to break up a long journey. Pets are welcome. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is always helpful, very professional, and smiling, from the front desk to the restaurant and bar.
08/03/2026: Beautiful, new hotel very close to the highway toll booth. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good restaurant. It's a shame about the windows in the rooms, at least on the third floor. These should be superior rooms. The single, tilt-and-turn window opens only on the upper part of the wall. Quite claustrophobic, for me...

The restaurant was very well-maintained and the service was attentive (Paolo was a very friendly, professional guy... special!). The owners were wonderful, welcoming, and helpful. Highly recommended: 10 stars, but it's a shame there are only 5 stars.

01/04/2026: My wife and son and I were in the beautiful city of Matera last week, and right below our B&B, we decided, at the recommendation of many locals, to try this excellent restaurant.
We started with the traditional peperoni cruschi, then moved on to the excellent orecchiette with mushrooms and sausage and a traditional soup.
But the real masterpiece was the dish that gives the restaurant its name: the Pignata.
A pan covered in oven-baked bread containing tender and delicious sheep cooked for 18 hours with potatoes and carrots.
We finished with a delicious, crunchy and bitter dessert.

08/03/2026: We had dinner two evenings when we go down to Grottole, a regular stop at this restaurant, the pizza is excellent, I recommend it to anyone passing by.
17/01/2026: A regular customer, and always a great return. The quality of the dishes is consistent and meticulous, with well-crafted ingredients and balanced flavors. The food is truly delicious every time, with no unpleasant surprises. The rest of the experience is also completely satisfying: pleasant atmosphere, attentive service, and good timing. A reliable place, one you'll gladly return to because it maintains a consistently high overall standard. Recommended.

08/04/2026: Oh well... we haven't eaten like this since '72. The aromas of authenticity and the fireplace blend with the flavors of the Lucanian mountains, from porcini mushrooms to handmade strascinati. I'd live here if I could ❤️
23/03/2026: A typical mountain hut made entirely of wood, serving authentic, local cuisine, just like being at home. Reasonable prices, very kind and smiling staff, and a fantastic view of the surrounding forest, especially in the snow.
NB: One suggestion, though: I'd make the portions larger; some are really small 🙈😅

26/04/2026: I visited this pizzeria with fairly high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing in several ways. The pizza was rubbery and unpleasant to eat, a sign of dough that likely wasn't well-worked or cooked properly.
To make matters worse, the service: the owner was unfriendly and, to every question, responded in an annoyed manner, creating a less than welcoming atmosphere.
I understand that there can be bad days, but when you work in front of the public, a little kindness really makes a difference. I hope they can improve both the quality of the pizza and the customer service.
