13/08/2026: We were greeted with such hospitality. The place exudes history and passion. The passion for cycling is mirrored in the presentation of the dishes. The place isn't anonymous; it tells a story, it's lived in.
The food is delicious: I recommend the strascinati mollicati and the cod with crusco peppers. I really loved the attention paid to the bread, which was also very good.
In short, whether it's cycling or cooking, there's pure dedication here!

04/05/2026: Osteria L’arco was my favorite dining experience in Matera! The food was phenomenal with lots of local dishes to try and the service was the best. The pasta with peppers and ricotta is so far my best pasta in all of Italy! And the chocolate cake with orange and peppers was an amazing combination (I especially loved the cocoa hearts). It was my first dinner as a solo traveler and they treated me well. Grazie L’arco!

Aurora and Savino are exceptional in their hospitality and making you feel at home. The atmosphere is welcoming and the location unforgettable. A special thanks to Franco, whose courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism make the experience even more enjoyable. We once again had a wonderful evening! Highly recommended!

The room was clean and furnished
with taste and functionality.
We also ate in their restaurant, which was excellent.
Compliments go to the owners but also to all their staff,
reception, and waiters.
I recommend it.

09/06/2026: During our visit to Matera, we dined at this trattoria. The staff were friendly, the service quick, and the dishes were delicious: a cheese and cured meat platter, fava bean puree with chicory, and orecchiette alla matarese. I recommend it.

08/08/2026: The place is very nice, the food is excellent, but the service from the waiters was very bad. They claim to understand, but they don't. Even with the translator, I realized they don't know Italian or English well, much less Spanish. I asked for sugar-free food, just fruit, and they gave it to me with sugar on top. I sent it back, and they brought it back washed off; it wasn't even a repair.

17/05/2026: Drawn by the positive reviews, we decided to have lunch here. Unfortunately, neither the first nor the second course satisfied us, and we left feeling truly disappointed. The photos, unfortunately, don't reflect what we were actually served. The only positive note was the wine, but it wasn't enough to compensate for the quality of the food. The sauce was very watery, and the pork cutlet seemed to be drowned in wine: there was no reduction, as indicated on the menu. A real shame.
14/05/2026: This restaurant has a rich cultural heritage; it's nearly 100 years old, and the building itself is over 100 years old. That's why it received a cultural award, which is quite unique.
The food is Southern Italian cuisine. Local red peppers (I didn't take a picture) are used in the dishes, and they're very fragrant.
Please see the photos for food descriptions. Overall, it suited my taste. Personally, I think everything—from the sourdough bread and cheese platter to the raw meat platter—was delicious.
If you're ever in this area, I highly recommend trying it. 👍🏻😊

12/08/2026: Very long wait times between courses. The ingredients were also good, but unfortunately overall insufficient. The orecchiette with turnip tops were too salty. The staff was courteous.
12/08/2026: Politeness is not optional. Terrible service. We felt like every request was a burden to the staff (for example, asking for a cooler for a bottle of white wine on August 11th). It's a shame about the food, because the dishes were very good. Unfortunately, however, the atmosphere of the evening/restaurant was ruined by the service!
