26/07/2024: My wife and I were vacationing with friends who had arrived in the area two days before we had, and who had dined at Il Passaggio only the night before we arrived. They were so impressed and had experienced such a wonderful evening that they insisted on bringing us back the very next night for our first dinner with them. Karim patiently guided us through the marvelous 4 course tasting menu, speaking with real passion about the wine and the chef’s creations. He and his colleagues were funny and charming and attentive and everything you hope for in a fine dining experience. Almost a month later I’m still dreaming of the meal, and the wine, and the spectacular view from their patio, but mostly I’m recalling the first rate hospitality, warmth, and kindness that we experienced from Karim and his team. They are magicians.
20/07/2024: The moment you arrive at Il Passaggio you are greeted by the beautiful view and property. Our experience at the restaurant was amazing, the view from the terrace was magical (gorgeous and memorable sunset) and the food superb.
The wines we chose from Capanna were delicious and paired perfectly with the dishes.
Definitely recommend and will come back 🍷

09/12/2023: Entro dentro … buongiorno! Silenzio totale…. Vengo accolto dalla signora che comincia a mandare accidenti a raffica perche la luce era non accesa del tutto ed evidentemente i clienti proprio non li puo vedere … fa finta di niente come non ci fossi e se ne torna in magazzino…. Finalmente dopo 5 minuti arriva un signore , gli dico buongiorno e ovviamente non risponde , comuncia a tossire sulle paste si tocca ripetutamente la bocca si asciuga la saliva…. Mi da una pasta e gli dico di farmi un cappuccino, nel frattempo la moglie è ancora indoffarata nel mandarmi accidenti perche la luce non era accesa ( la sento blaterare che se voleva gente accendeva le luci ) il sig mi fa il cappuccino, fra un colpo di tossr e laltro lo sento parlare di uno che gli avrebbe dato un pugno … non stemto a crederci visto l’esperienza bellissima che offre nel suo locale …. Pessimo davvero da evitare , sembra di fargli un torto ad andarci !!! Evitare come la peste

05/10/2023: Very, very disappointed.
The good:
1. A very beautiful restaurant in a lovely setting. Quite a friendly greeting.
The bad:
1. The service was very spotty. The pleasant server took our order but we never saw her again. It was the junior servers the rest of the way even though only 5 tables were occupied.
2. Our first course was delivered to the table less than 5 minutes after we ordered and before the wine (red flag?).
3. Nobody asked if the food was good or if we enjoyed anything. We got a definite impression that they knew the answer and didn’t want to ask (or even visit the table).
The ugly:
1. The Food. Where to start….as a general point the prices were astronomical.
2. Crostini. Very poor quality but very high prices (a theme).
3. Gnocchi- pretty good. The best dish we had, but 30 euros for a small dish of decent gnocchi?
4. Rack of lamb. Dismal. Ordered medium rare, arrived cold and overcooked, essentially inedible. Ate two bites and left the balance. Nobody inquired if I enjoyed it (d’uh).
5. Pasta vongole. Bad. Soo bad. Odd flavour that invited the conclusion that the clams were”off”. Plate wasn’t consumed but (again) no one asked if we enjoyed it.
We were afraid to order dessert due to issues listed above.
Summary: Substandard food with poor service at wildly inflated prices in a beautiful restaurant. I’d humbly suggest you visit the 100’s of Tuscan restaurants in the area that care about the experience of their customers.
24/09/2023: Spent 2 weeks in Italy from Sorrento, Rome, Florence, Venice; this was by far the worst and most expensive meal around. The hotel knows you are trapped and limited for other dining options and overprices their dishes as a result. I can’t remember a more aggravating meal. We had to scarf down the loaves of bread because the food we ordered had no taste. 5 meatballs cost 33 euro; and they were tasteless. The waiter had the audacity to kiss his fingers when describing their bolognese dish. My wife got the dish and it had absolutely no flavor. We had to add salt and grated cheese and it still had no flavor. I was never so appalled by anyone who could gesture so highly towards a specific dish and it end up being so terrible. Nearby Tuscan towns have much cheaper restaurants with some of the best food I ever had. Avoid this restaurant, it’s a trap.

14/07/2024: Sehr unfreundliches Personal. Trotz Reservierung wurde uns kein Tisch gegeben und die Kellnerin hat kein Verständnis gezeigt und sehr genervt reagiert. Sehr schade.

19/07/2023: Giudizio positivo anche per il ristorante dell’Hotel Piccolo Chianti. Pochi tavoli, poche portate (prettamente di tradizione) ma molto buone. Consiglio in particolare la tagliata che anche nella versione “ben cotta” che abbiamo richiesto era molto tenera e saporita. Il servizio è affidato al personale dell’hotel come sempre molto gentile.

02/01/2024: Locale incontrato per caso andando in val d'Orcia, stile anni '80, talmente kitsch, decadente e di dubbio giusto da sembrare affascinante. Dentro c'è di tutto: panche da pub, statue africane, copertine di dischi di Cocciante, quadri paesaggi e gigantografie di Marylin Monroe. Fuori c'è scritto 'la Bussola', dentro dai menù si scopre che si chiama 'Jamaica'. Pizza 'alla romana', niente male per trovarci in un posto surreale in mezzo al nulla. Tralasciando i litigi tra il personale in puro stile 'Cucine da incubo' (consiglio alla produzione del programma di contattarli, sarebbe perfetto!) tutto sommato l'unica cosa che non ho apprezzato è stato il conto. 28 euro per una margherita e una marinara, acqua e due caffé. Visto lo scontrino non dettagliato, ho chiesto spiegazioni in cassa e mi è stato detto che 5 euro erano per il servizio. In un posto del genere già sentire parlare di servizio fa ridere, nel nostro caso avendo avuto una bottiglia di vino rosso lasciata sul nostro tavolo da quando siamo arrivati a quando siamo andati via, è assurdo. In conclusione: se passate per di lì per una pizza va bene, si spera in una puntata di Cannavaciuolo girarà lì il prima possibile.
10/09/2023: Pizza in famiglia.. qui si mangia bene tutto ma la pizza è davvero unica.. sottile e molto ben farcita!!! Non meritano meno di 5 stelle.. locale anni ottanta, non moderno ma molto accogliente e spazioso!!
