16/11/2025: The venue is located at the beginning of the Viareggio seafront promenade and is trendy and sophisticated (the outdoor terrace is very beautiful and spacious). There is an endless selection of cocktails for all tastes. My Kir Royal was fantastic and beautifully presented. You can also have lunch if you want, and there are often events with live music and fast service.

09/12/2025: We tried the new Sottosopra in Capezzano Pianore, fondly remembering the old restaurant in Massarosa, but the experience was disappointing. The place is a bit neglected, the service is haphazard, the portions are small, and the dishes lack flavor. The bill, at €35 per person, is decidedly high for the quality and attention to detail. It's a shame; we expected better. I wouldn't recommend it.

06/12/2025: Granted, the food is good—the tordelli are delicious, the grilled meat is good, and the fried pasta is exceptional—there are two things that aren't right: first, the waiter can't list half the available dishes...and then you see other dishes being offered that only the girl knows (and suggests); second, we've been there three times, and, always eating more or less the same things, when you spend 30 euros...just right...when 40...excessive. The feeling is that, since there are no menus with prices listed, they use double standards depending on the customer and who's doing the bill (the guy is more expensive than the girl). It's a shame, because the place is worth a visit...

09/10/2025: First night in Lucca and didn’t have a reservation anywhere. Tried to get into a highly recommended restaurant but it was full. Found Piccolo Mondo and they could take us (only 2 people). Food was excellent - soup, shrimp risotto, broccoli flan and spaghetti bolognese. All great! But service was horrible - the staff made us feel like they were doing us a favour by even recognizing us. But there are SO many great restaurants to enjoy that one doesn’t have to put up with such poor service.

19/08/2025: The pizza is certainly not the best in the region. The price is commensurate: very cheap. We had a really hard time ordering because the lady was very annoyed, wanting to do everything quickly; we felt unwelcome in this pizzeria from the very first moment. It was obvious that she didn't want to serve us. Perhaps it was because we were there with two small children. The lady (owner) obviously didn't speak English, but spoke a little quickly in Italian. All attempts to explain things to her via online translator failed. But I wouldn't recommend this pizzeria. The pizzas weren't moist, so it's not worth it. The atmosphere is okay.

31/10/2025: Mamma Mia isn't just a club, it's "the club" where there's everything: music, fun, transgression, and lots and lots of people. It's quiet in the summer, but even off-season, fun is guaranteed. It's not for potheads, but for people who want to have fun without breaking the rules.

Located in the heart of Viareggio's Passeggiata, Café Fappani overlooks Piazza Mazzini on one side and the sea on the other. This is why I'm giving this place 5 stars for its ambiance: in terms of location and view, it's hard to find a better one. As for the food, I'm evaluating what I've personally tried: breakfast and afternoon snacks. Some things, like the croissants, seem absolutely fresh, while others, like the savory items, seem like reheated leftovers from the day before. I'd like to give a positive point to the coffee shop, because the young man who worked there on the various occasions I've tried this place has always made excellent coffees and milky drinks. Now comes the problem... the staff... If you're looking for kindness, smiles, and humility, you've come to the wrong place. The owner/proprietor is well known for the way he treats his employees; he yells and speaks rudely to people. I'd also like to point out to anyone who visits this place that the table service in the afternoon, in the glass-fronted dining room, is just an excuse to probably try to earn a little extra money. The dining room was completely empty, and so was the rest of the place. A young man in his thirties, not wearing any kind of uniform (very unhygienic in my opinion), says that if you sit in that room, you'll get table service. We sit down. The young man comes to the table. We ask for two focaccias with cold cuts that we read on the menu, and two drinks: a water and a latte macchiato. He says he doesn't know if they're left. He tells us to get up and go check the counter. Madness. A customer has to pay for table service and also has to get up to go check what's left in the display case. We didn't even have time to eat as calmly as I would have liked before we got up to leave. I don't even want to comment on the completely fabricated prices for both the food and beverages. Not to mention the fact that the same person they send to clean the bathrooms is the same person who comes back behind the coffee shop counter... I'll just give you one piece of advice if you're thinking of going to this bar: don't go there and spend your money elsewhere.

14/12/2025: A point of reference for many, for Viareggio residents and beyond, given the city's tourist vocation, both present and historical. Its fame spans all backgrounds, cultures, education, and age. I can say that Fappani was already famous, well-known, even when they used to accompany me to the beach equipped with a bucket and spade. I must add that I'm approaching 70. If Fappani has been appreciated by so many people throughout this time, it means that in its establishments it has offered a high level of hospitality, serving cuisine, pastries, ice cream, and beverages, both homemade and supplied by reliable suppliers. Fappani has added discreet professionalism and delicate attention, interpreting the passing of time and the expectations of Viareggio's patrons and of Cafe Fappani. Finally, I would like to highlight the rice puddings, offered in customized and original versions, which rightfully earn Fappani's place among the region's most popular pastry shops for this type of pastry.

03/11/2025: Tranquility reigns supreme here, with beautiful landscapes and a cool climate even in summer. It's a shame that services are limited: the post office is open only once a week, there's a very popular restaurant, the church, and the cemetery. Buses are available, but few, and sometimes there are no connections to Valsamoggia (Bologna). This is a major problem for those without a car.

17/10/2025: A truly stylish and interesting location. I've lived in Versilia for a while, but I'd missed this restaurant in Lido di Camaiore, strategically located for enjoying the sunset from the terrace. The restaurant and its staff are modern and refined, and of excellent quality. The food was excellent, as was the service, even though I took advantage of The Fork discount to get the best value. Highly recommended!

Yet at Lebowski, this happens every single time. And much of the credit goes to him: Alessandro, the bartender who turns every order into a little show. Alessandro isn't just good: he's a true artist behind the bar. He knows how to mix flavors with the same mastery he has of reading people. He looks at you for a second and already knows what kind of drink is right for you, whether you need an energy boost, a moment of relaxation, or a liquid embrace that lifts you up. His manner is polite, never intrusive but always present, with that sincere smile that makes you forget bad days. He has the rare talent of making every customer feel special, as if you were a regular, even if it's your first time. The bar is meticulously crafted: a warm and relaxing atmosphere, soft lighting, and refined yet never snobbish decor. The music is always perfectly calibrated and accompanies you without disturbing you. You can tell that every choice here is made with love, passion, and incredible customer care. The cocktail menu is extensive and creative, but it's by relying on Alessandro that you really take it to the next level: he knows how to surprise, recommend, and invent. Every drink is an experience, served with style, precision, and a personal touch you won't find anywhere else. Even a simple gin and tonic in his hands becomes a moment to remember. And then there's that intangible something that can't be explained without experiencing it: the good energy you breathe, the feeling of being in the right place at the right time. The Lebowski is more than a bar. It's a haven of emotion, a place to let go, laugh, confide, or simply enjoy the moment. In short: 5 stars aren't enough to describe what this place and Alessandro offer. It's become my favorite place in Lucca, and every time I return, I leave a little happier. They feature a thoughtful lineup of local craft beers, several of which were absolute standouts and unlike anything we’d tasted elsewhere on our travels. Whether you’re a seasoned beer enthusiast or just curious to try something local, this place won’t disappoint. The owner was equally impressive — friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what he does. He has a genuine talent for mixing up personalized cocktails on the spot, simply based on your preferences. Just mention what flavours or spirits you like and watch him work his magic. It made the whole experience feel incredibly personal and elevated. Between the exceptional drinks, the laid-back atmosphere, and the warm hospitality, this spot became one of our favorite watering holes of the trip. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys great drinks served with heart and style.
