09/08/2025: A neighborhood ice cream shop, a regular customer for a few years since it opened. The owner and master gelato maker are top-notch. All the flavors are excellent, from the classics to the fruity ones and sorbets. An "old-school" ice cream shop; don't expect unusual flavors or gourmet combinations, but high quality and respect for tradition. Go to La Veneta and you won't regret it!

27/08/2025: Unfortunately, the experience was very negative because I found a hair in my pappardelle with ragù. I didn't even try it because it was wrapped in the first pappardelle I ate. It can happen, but the negative aspect was the owner's reaction: he didn't apologize for what had happened, he wasn't sorry, and he accused us of having placed the hair on us, for some unknown reason. Behavior that was SHAMEFUL, OFFENSIVE, AND UNSUITABLE FOR THOSE WHO WORK WITH THE PUBLIC IN THE RESTAURANT INDUSTRY. On the bill, I saw one pappardelle removed, but instead he added a €9 cover charge for two people. DISAPPOINTING BEHAVIOR, and once again SHAMEFUL. GOODBYE OSTERIA DEI MERCANTI... Dear owner of Osteria dei Mercanti...you write many untrue things, you're not honest in what you say... We didn't come to your place for lunch, but for dinner. When the very young waiter came to get the pappardelle, he didn't apologize at all, nor did he ask if we wanted anything else. I was the one who, seeing your total indifference to what had happened, and no longer wanting to eat, signaled him from afar to stop bringing anything. But the young man didn't ask us anything and later even confirmed it to you. YOU were aware of what had happened and, as the owner, you could have come to us and apologized. I want to emphasize that THE PROBLEM wasn't the hair immediately found in the pappardelle. It can happen, it does happen, and WE didn't make a big deal out of it; in fact, we politely and privately spoke to the waiter. SHE created the problem because when we came to pay and told her what had happened, she started by saying, "SHUT UP, I'LL DECIDE HOW TO PAY THE BILLS," and in a very arrogant tone, she added, "YOU COULD HAVE PUT THE HAIR ON OUR PLATE TOO." I read again in her response many sentences that highlight her arrogance and rudeness. In the first response, we were rude and unwelcome. Now, all of a sudden, I'm the arrogant one, while my husband is kind and polite. She quickly changes her mind!!! When she openly offended us, she did it to both of us, including my husband, and told us that WE put the hair on our plate, and I repeat, SHE HAS NEVER, and I repeat, NEVER, APOLOGIZED. We also wanted to pay for the dinner, except for the pappardella, which contained your hat. This was especially true since the pappardella was never tasted, but sent back intact. It's true that you didn't include it in the bill, and I acknowledged this and wrote it down. But, dishonestly, you charged us 9 euros for a cover charge for two people, when the menu stated 2 euros per person. Was it us who wanted the free dinner, or was it you who wanted to make money off us despite your mistake? I should add that other reviews report that you responded rudely and treated customers poorly. So we're not the only ones writing this. We often eat out, but we've never had anything like this happen to us from an owner. Furthermore, your response lacks any arguments or logical reasoning to support our claims. She demonstrates in public and on social media that she is an ARROGANT, RUDE person because she only knows how to offend us again, telling us that "I have personal problems." What a low-level person. MAYBE SHE SEES A PROBLEM IN US THAT'S HER OWN, AND GIVEN HER GREAT ARROGANCE AND PRESUMPTION, SHE DOESN'T ADMIT IT. Being in the public doesn't mean being a slave to others; freedom lies in maintaining politeness and courtesy when faced with disagreements with customers and showing RESPECT by knowing how to resolve a problem with tact and humility. I use reviews because I don't tolerate ARROGANCE, RUDENESS, INSULTS, LYING, DISRESPECTFUL PEOPLE, AND EVEN THOSE WHO CAN'T SAY..."I'M SO SORRY, SORRY"...I will always fight and will fight!!!!!!!!!!

21/08/2025: After many years and a fire, we returned to Beppa Fioraia. The atmosphere was very nice, clean, well-maintained, and tastefully decorated. We remembered the huge, generous platters, but the "Beppa" platter for four was smaller than other individual platters, making it a bit difficult to manage without proper assistance. There's a wide selection of wines by the bottle, but very little by the glass. There's no cocktail menu, and they didn't even offer any to us. Friendly staff.

08/07/2025: It's like stepping back in time; this inn is still in the '80s, and it's a bit like visiting your grandparents' house. The atmosphere is immaculate and the furnishings are antique. The view of the hill is breathtaking. The food is divine! The ravioli are enormous and filled with a generous amount of ingredients, delicious! And the wild boar stew is truly spectacular! Highly recommended.

04/09/2025: I've been a customer of this pastry shop for over 15 years, practically a second home. Today, sadly, it's become unrecognizable: a place that has completely lost its soul. The prices have become simply ridiculous: €1.80 for a rice pudding (once the symbol of Florentine pastry, now a luxury for inattentive tourists), €3.50 for a tiny grandmother's cake that disappears in two bites. The "normal" pastries have shrunk so much they look like miniature pastries: a year ago (the last time I set foot there), I pointed this out, thinking they'd mistakenly served me a miniature pastry, and the bartender shamelessly replied, "But this is normal." No, this is a joke! Furthermore, they've introduced the absurd €1 drink-at-the-table charge, even though I've always returned the cups to the counter—shameful to say the least. A policy that tramples on loyal customers to wink only at "hit-and-run" tourists. And now, instead of focusing on quality and their old customers, they prefer to reinvent themselves as a "trendy" place, serving cocktails until 1 a.m. on Wednesdays. But there's nothing left of the real pastry shop, the kind we knew, unless you want to take out a loan for a coffee and mortgage your car to maybe eat two pastries instead of one. What was once a staple of Florence is now just another soulless establishment that thrives on appearances and inflated prices. A betrayal of those who supported them for years; I'll never set foot there again.
