07/11/2025: Today, November 7, 2025, our third day in Palermo, visiting the monuments of this fantastic city, we come across a delicatessen at Via Vittorio Emanuele 389 whose aromas can be felt even in the street. Over the past few days, we've often eaten fish at various restaurants in Mondello and on excursions in the surrounding area (Bagheria, Borgo Porrini, Monreale, etc.), and many other Sicilian specialties. We enter this delicatessen, observing its characteristic tavern-like decor, and meet a gentleman named Amedeo Palermitano DOC, who graciously welcomes us and seats us at a shared table (it's raining outside). The atmosphere is promising, and we're seated right in front of the large counter displaying all the shop's merchandise. Behind the counter, a young Sicilian woman named Teresa practically does everything herself (she actually has the help of a young man who only takes care of the after-dinner service, and her father Anedeo, who, kindly, despite a few aches and pains, delivers things to the tables and attends to the guests' needs). We carefully watch Teresa prepare and order a platter of cured meats and cheeses, along with other small items for the two of us. Amedeo, at our request, recommends the wine, and we order two glasses: a red for me and a white for my wife, both from fine Sicilian wineries. The platter arrives and is truly marvelous: 6 or 7 types of cheese of varying consistencies, from ricotta with citrus sauce to provolone stuffed with olives and chili pepper, through other spicy and not-so-unique cheeses. The cheeses are accompanied by equally varied cured meats, such as mortadella and mortadella with herbs, capocollo, fillet, a unique cooked ham, salami, and prosciutto crudo. In the middle of the platter were some delicious marinated green and black olives and a small plate of eggplant with sauce and celery, honey mushrooms, and sweet and sour marinated pumpkin. My palate was overwhelmed by a variety of original flavors, and the glass of wine enhanced them. I won't deny that I even ate all the bread in the basket. Amedeo is a man with extensive life experience (an overager like me), and with him we talked about the South and our shared dream of seeing a respected, autonomous South, aware of its artistic and historical values, and of people who can foster a sense of belonging. I noticed two of Amedeo's loves: his daughter Teresa, to whom he gazes with paternal love, and Santa Rosalia, whom she jealously guards in a small niche within the restaurant. Teresa, on the other hand, is the hub of the delicatessen, the industrious part of the shop, combining the combinations and intertwining of cured meats and cheeses, as well as small gastronomic dishes of Sicilian delicacies. He's very knowledgeable, even in running this shop, and his passion for this profession shines through. Aside from the culinary delights you shouldn't miss if you're passing through (very close to the cathedral, the royal palace, and the church of San Giuseppe dei Teatini and Santa Caterina—practically at the center of these monumental masterpieces), I had the pleasure of meeting two people of great depth, both in their simplicity and thorough professionalism. For those interested in the god of money, we spent only 20 euros each. Greetings to Teresa and Amedeo. Long live Santa Rosalia.

11/10/2025: I've been coming to Catania for work for five years, and Taverna del Grande Albero is a regular stop. First of all, I find quality and courtesy here, but above all, I feel like I'm at home. The owners have become like family to me. I GO TO FILIPPO'S, I say every time!!!! Always friendly, always hospitable, they never fail to chat with the customers, and I highly recommend it!! I've attached photos so you can fully understand my satisfaction. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of the spectacular seafood appetizer!

22/11/2025: Excellent restaurant in Catania, far removed from the "tourist food" crowd, offering traditional dishes made with quality ingredients. Sitting down isn't a big deal; you can have lunch or dinner here, even with just one course. Good value, above-average quality. The staff and chef are very friendly.

19/11/2025: We ate very well, from the appetizers: peppered mussels and fried anchovies, shrimp, calamari, red mullet... to the first course: seafood mezze maniche I recommend it to everyone. Reasonable prices.

17/11/2025: I was in Sicily over the weekend with my husband and we had dinner at this beautiful little restaurant. It was obviously very quiet because it was out of season. At Da Veneti, we really enjoyed their typical Sicilian cuisine. I've attached photos so you can judge for yourself: the taste is delicious! Highly recommended!

13/10/2025: The food is very, very good. Alessandro is an excellent host. The dishes are good, well-cooked. The price is in line with the 2025 costs. It's not cheap, but it's fair. You don't feel ripped off when you leave, in fact, you think, "I ate well and enjoyed the fish dishes..."

12/10/2025: A truly exceptional place where intimacy and serenity are guaranteed by the limited seating, which also ensures high-quality service, kitchen management, and raw ingredients. All the fish is super fresh, and the entire staff is friendly, helpful, and very professional. A delicious, high-quality menu is "decanted" by the owner directly at the table, at the right price considering we're talking about fish caught practically in front of us, but with flavors that truly deserve a solid 10! The mussels are excellent, but in general everything we ate was delicious and beautifully presented. 👌🏼 We'll definitely be back.

27/10/2025: Overall, an excellent experience. Very friendly staff and truly delicious dishes. I would have given it even more stars, but the experience has two flaws. One dish we chose was an off-menu porcini mushroom dish...too much cream, perhaps. Perhaps it's a matter of taste, but it covered the porcini mushrooms. The main courses, however, were each more exquisite than the last. One negative aspect that I hope doesn't happen again: I walk in and let my wife in. A receptionist sees us and waits for us at the top of the stairs. I notice a couple who were about to come in, and obviously I don't close the door and leave it open. The woman comes in, then the man, the rude one on duty, goes up the stairs, and so does the woman, who had actually stopped right away. The receptionist greeted them and escorted them in. I hope it doesn't happen again; I wasn't there to let the customers in; we had been seen and greeted at the entrance, and in my opinion, she should have made the rude one on duty wait... especially since there will always be at least one. I refrained from complaining and calling myself a jerk; it's not in my nature. I would have appreciated either an apology or a simple "the gentlemen were here first" to the rude couple.

22/10/2025: A very pleasant, contemporary space with floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the boardwalk, beach, and sailboats drifting across the sea — an unforgettable setting. The atmosphere is modern yet relaxed, perfectly framing the creative cuisine. Every dish was beautifully presented, refined, and full of distinct character. Service was polished and attentive from start to finish. A truly dramatic restaurant that delivers on every level — superb food, exceptional staff, and a view that makes the entire experience feel special.

07/11/2025: The manager is friendly and kind, the music is nice, but that's about it. The creative menu really enticed us... Maybe it's the end of the season... we ordered two appetizers, a first course, and two second courses. I'll just describe the octopus sandwich: two small pieces of toast with two tiny tentacles and mayonnaise that covers the taste of the octopus. €17... it was quite embarrassing. After trying the pasta, we stopped for the second courses, paid, and ran away.

03/10/2025: What can I say, the environment is already a pampering, you feel at home, for those who love meat it is the ideal restaurant but also vegetarians will have alternatives, even though I am, I could not resist the smell of roast and I wanted to eat the chops 🤣, abundant dishes, excellent first courses, side dishes and second courses, the owners Carmelo and Angela and the staff are a love!

08/12/2025: I'll start by saying that there's nothing to say about the quality of the products, of course, but if you raise the prices and decrease the quantities, little by little the customers who have always preferred you for years (like us) will change destination. It's normal for those who come from out of town and are just passing through not to know the first place and therefore it seems normal to pay a lot and the dishes seem endless. But those who are used to coming specifically and know the place, comparing today to last year, can say that everything has changed. However, since now everything is projected towards self-interest and they don't take into account that there are customers who travel miles and there is no minimum consideration, it's better to change because always the same old soup paid triple the price becomes indigestible in the long run. It was nice while it lasted, but it's better not to come back because fortunately there are even better places. We are all useful and no one is indispensable, so greetings and kisses 😘😘

27/10/2025: Chance stop for lunch. Pizza square for lunch . Amazing. Brown dough with hand picked olives personally preserved by the owner. Best pizza I have had in Italy. Great cappuccino (no long life milk at this cafe) Friendly owner who suggested the almond granita with pistachio gelato. Perfect combination and so good. We even had a second cappuccino with the dessert. Thanks for such a kind welcome and a wonderful experience. Best culinary surprise of our trip.
