20/05/2026: Very disappointing experience. The staff was rude from the moment we arrived and made us feel completely unwelcome. We found hair in the food, and the clams were clearly not fresh and badly overcooked. When we tried to politely explain that we were unhappy with the meal and service, the staff refused to listen and dismissed our concerns entirely. Despite the poor treatment, we were still forced to pay a service fee, which felt unreasonable considering the way we were treated. The overall attitude of the staff made us feel like a burden, even to the point of dropping the menus in front of us without basic courtesy. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had.

17/05/2026: Good food, but very slow and evasive service that does not follow up with customers during dinner. One of the main courses did not come with the others. The waiter noticed it and said - "wait a minute". We waited thirty minutes for it to arrive😔 The service showed no understanding that it was poor service.

30/04/2026: I was delighted by the unique and unmistakable taste of the delicacies produced by my favourite bar: NUVIANI, in particular the pastiera and above all the excellent chocolate profiterole, I had been told it was delicious but I had not told it was sublime and I must compliment the owner for her kindness and helpfulness.

18/06/2026: I'm giving it three stars only for the quality of the food and the atmosphere, because otherwise I'm still visibly shaken. On Friday night, we went to Taverna del Maltese to celebrate a friend's birthday. The place is truly beautiful and welcoming, with an excellent selection of craft beers. The sandwiches were also spectacular, tasty, and made with top-quality ingredients. The problem arose halfway through the evening. After drinking a couple of beers, I asked where the bathroom was. They vaguely pointed me down the hall, but I must have gone the wrong way. I found myself in a kind of dark closet, filled with old signs and empty beer crates. At the far end of the room, half-hidden by an old keg, was a heavy metal door, identical to those found in industrial kitchens, with a small, opaque glass porthole in the center. Intrigued, and convinced it was a shortcut to the restrooms, I approached and looked inside. What I saw will haunt me forever. In a room lit by flickering neon lights, there weren't the waiters we'd seen in the dining room, but monstrous creatures, vaguely human-like but with disproportionate mouths and long, slimy fingers. They were literally gobbling down, with animalistic voracity, an immense quantity of sweets. Specifically, they were devastating three different cakes: A monumental cream millefeuille, with layers of pastry flying everywhere as they devoured it with both hands. A giant, dense, blackish Sacher torte, which these creatures smeared on their faces, grunting with pleasure. A refined tart of fresh fruit and Chantilly cream, whose berries dripped onto the floor like blood. As they chewed noisily and disgustingly, I heard them laughing and whispering among themselves in hollow voices: "Free... everything free and succulent!" They smell of fresh ignorance, they smell of new customers... poor fools, they don't know that you should NEVER bring cakes here, eheheheh.....». If you go to the Taverna del Maltese, enjoy the beer and sandwiches, which are excellent. But leave the cakes at home.

18/06/2026: Absurd! I brought a birthday cake, my birthday. I left it on the table and then went to the bathroom while I waited for the guests. Never was a mistake more fatal... I returned and my cake was gone, replaced by a waiter covered head to toe in the frothy cream of MY cake, now reduced to an ornament on a hungry and greedy body. Despite the evidence, he had the courage to respond to my accusations by denying it. "No, sir, you're wrong. There was no cake on the table. You must have made a mistake." I flew into a rage, but it was no use; everyone pretended not to believe me and called me crazy. I pointed my finger at the waiter, pointing at the cream, and everyone looked at the finger. A surreal situation that forced me to leave the place, slamming the door. I will never return.

25/06/2026: The pizza is good, thin, and well-cooked. The recently renovated space is well-maintained, but the acoustics are terrible. The echo makes any conversation impossible. But the real downside is the service. Rushed and rushed, always breathing down your neck, it doesn't make you feel comfortable. I fully understand the need to move tables, but we ate pizza, fruit, and dessert in exactly 25 minutes, and were handed the (rather hefty) bill before we even asked for it. And this despite the fact that there were several empty tables and no one waiting. They couldn't wait to get rid of us.

25/06/2026: The pizzas are undeniably excellent. But that's the only excellent thing about this place, because unfortunately the owner and his loyal staff are literally obsessed with reusing the table as much as possible. We arrived at 8:00 PM and were already out by 8:45 PM. During those 45 minutes, the owner and his co. stopped by every 3-4 minutes to ask if we wanted to order anything else. They put a sense of pressure and anxiety on us that was completely unwarranted. In 20 milliseconds, we ordered and received fruit and dessert (cassata without asking for the flavor). Of course, the bill arrived together. It was a matter of "pay and leave." A total of 45 minutes had passed, and we weren't being bothersome in any way. If you're in a real hurry, this is the place... like a company cafeteria! Tables were stacked together, almost like a bunk.

09/06/2026: A casual eatery offering both fast food and local dishes. The restaurant is charming, with seating both inside and in the courtyard.

03/06/2026: Nice place, the outdoor space is a gem in the summer, but when there's live music it's not recommended for the faint of heart, as the volume is unbearable.

09/08/2026: Excellent food. From the appetizers to the platters to the pizza, the products are top-quality. The ingredients are fresh and served with care. Special mention goes to the waiter Pier Maria for his professionalism and kindness. I highly recommend it; we'll definitely be back.

16/05/2026: At dinner with friends, after paying around €350, we politely asked for five digestives, but the waitress irritably replied that she would only offer three. It was a shame because the pizza was good. "Like getting lost in a glass of water."

09/03/2026: A very pleasant bakery in the old town. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. You can try delicious local bread here, including one made with olive oil and olives. Everything is fresh and very tasty. It's definitely worth a visit when walking around Altamura.

10/06/2026: Terrible experience. For a disposable plate with half an octopus, two half-plates of baked potatoes, and a measly sausage roll, all without any side dishes, I paid 33 euros. Not including water. For a takeout, this is truly disproportionate. They charged me twice because they had added side dishes I hadn't ordered, and they also charged me for the potato side dish as if it were a charge for the entire dish. I replied that this wasn't the case, but it was no use. Prices are not displayed or visible, so as to avoid any surprises. I returned after almost a year and had this unpleasant surprise. Definitely avoid this place in the future.

01/06/2026: Terrible experience, poor food, and incredibly slow service despite the place being practically empty. To make matters worse, we paid an absurd amount.

09/04/2026: In a small but charming setting, right in the historic center, a small restaurant with very friendly service. Their specialty is spaghetti all'assassina (10 out of 10). The bread balls in tomato sauce are excellent, and the bruschetta is very special; I would have preferred it crispier, but it's excellent. The tiramisu is very good. Reasonable prices. The dozens of pizza varieties, made with an electric oven, are worth trying.

22/03/2026: Excellent tagliatelle with black pork sauce, good tagliata, appetizing bruschetta with aubergine, buffalo mozzarella and cherry tomatoes.. recommended 👍👍
