31/05/2025: Para empezar pedí un tártaro de atún y poco antes de terminar noté algo muy pequeño arrastrándose en mi plato. Y cuando miré más de cerca lo que era, vi un gusano vivo en mi plato. Cuando se lo dijimos a la camarera al principio ni siquiera lo vio, pero después de que se lo dijimos (creo que todavía no sabía lo que queríamos decir) dijo que se lo llevará al chef y se lo preguntará. Cuando regresó nos dijo que era de la flor y ni siquiera dio una disculpa. Escribo esto porque mi madre ya hizo un reviev en google y me respondieron que era un pistilo violeta. Creo que es indignante e incapaz. Y la comida de los cuatro sabía a nada y mi carbonara de espagueti era una sopa de aceite.

You take a tiny glass elevator to the top floor of the Grand Hotel Ortigia and boom—you step into one of the most elegant rooftop settings in Sicily. We had called just the day before to book and were lucky to find a spot (end of June = still doable, but I’d reserve ahead if you’re coming in high season). We were seated on the terrace—front-row seats to the most cinematic sunset over Ortigia, with boats drifting in the background and the sea stretching endlessly before us. The food? Let’s talk about that polpo. “Polpo doppia cottura su crema di patate” sounds poetic—and it is. Tender, rich, and the kind of dish you order as a secondo but secretly wish you could eat for every course. Then came the pasta: pistachio pesto and shelled clams swimming in a vibrant green sauce. Balanced, bright, and exactly what summer on a Sicilian rooftop should taste like. Service was very professional. We sat outside on the terrace, but there’s also refined indoor seating if the weather doesn’t play nice. We parked at Parcheggio Molo Sant’Antonio using EasyPark (about a 10-minute scenic walk along the lungomare) it’s large, easy, and feels like part of the experience. There may be closer options, but the stroll is worth it. Would I go again? In a heartbeat. And next time, I’m ordering dessert too.

29/06/2025: My son and I came for my birthday dinner. Service was grand. We were dressed casually with no problem. The grouper fish and the veal were very good as well as the steamed shrimp. Drinks were ridiculously priced. $20 for a mojito and $26 for a suggested italian gin and tonic. The views are amazing.

18/01/2025: Matteo ed il suo locale ormai sono il nostro metro di giudizio per la ristorazione di mare contemporanea. L'accoglienza è sempre calorosa, la materia prima eccellente. Per la nostra prima cena del 2025 abbiamo scelto due percorsi paralleli, il primo cremoso e avvolgente grazie alla tartare di ricciola con parmantier e insalata di kiwi e all'ombrina con broccolo in due consistenze e muddica croccante, il secondo pirotecnico per merito del crudo di crostacei in zuppetta di latticello all'aneto e alle lumache con vongole e bottarga. Degno finale la foresta nera e la sfoglia con pere e caramello salato. Conto finale generoso.

And I gave it a go. What-a treat. The food is all fresh all made from scratch. Super tasty. It seems like a family owned place with such a friendly and endearing vibe. Not to mention the price wise was really affordable. If you are in the area, this is a place to go for a meal. Bon appetite 🙌

04/07/2025: Very elegant restaurant but with a welcoming atmosphere. I went to eat with a group of friends, the staff was really friendly and attentive, they recommended the raw seafood and tagliolini in scampi cream, and I must say that it was spot on and super appreciated. The fish is fresh and quality. We had a really good time, we will definitely be back!

04/07/2025: This is the second time I have been there with my wife and I have to say that I had a great time both times. The staff is very attentive to detail, the atmosphere is very warm and the fish is more than fresh. I was impressed by the raw fish and the sea bream, really good, but as a lover of desserts I really appreciated that they have homemade ones. If you want to spend an evening out for dinner, this is the perfect restaurant, because you leave satisfied with the quality and treatment.

15/06/2025: Perfect place. Very nice staff. Parking nearby - very cheap. Beach very clean. Water a bit dirtier (seaweed), but approach is very nice. Water is not deep, so perfect for non-swimmers or people who are afraid of deep water.
