There is a lot of attention to the raw material, and the combinations are creative, with a choice of both meat and fish, and a vegetable proposal. The Iberian pluma (replacing the sweetbreads that had run out) was truly delicious, the mussels with edible shell of Venus rice very original and tasty. For the first courses, super good venison buttons with mushrooms, as well as the sea urchin risotto, a must try! The atmosphere is quiet and the wait staff is very friendly. We will definitely be back!

11/02/2025: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An unforgettable gastronomic experience! Pepe Rosa in Lucca is simply a jewel! The hospitality of Simona and her team is impeccable, they make you feel at home from the first moment. The restaurant menu is well curated, with seasonal dishes and a truly delicious selection of starters. There were five of us and we chose to start with the starters: all excellent and studied in detail. For main courses, the sea urchin risotto was a dream, creamy and full of flavour. Also absolutely worth trying is the Viareggio caciucco, original and perfectly successful! Furthermore, the menu offers many gluten-free and lactose-free options, making the experience suitable for everyone. Another great strong point is the wine list: a renewed and very interesting selection, with accessible prices and a quality-price ratio that deserves a special mention. And what about the location? The oval square of Lucca is enchanting, and in summer dining at the outdoor tables makes everything even more magical and romantic. A restaurant that I would recommend without hesitation, and to which I will definitely return! Congratulations to the whole team!

17/12/2024: Tornare al Pinguino ne vale sempre la pena, dopo una accoglienza gentile e professionale, ci accomodiamo per gustare alcuni dei piatti proposti dallo chef. Incominciamo con tranci di focaccia con pomodorini , per accompagnare del baccalà , delle crocchette insieme a delle verdure grigliate con salumi e della provola affumicata, insieme ad un ottimo antipasto di mare. Primi dagli spaghetti ai frutti di mare al tris di gnocchi, fusilli e crespolini cotti in una terrina nel forno delle pizze. Secondi di carne e di pesce di ottima qualità. Volevamo assaggiare la pizza impastata con il lievito madre ma era troppo. Dolci della casa buonissimi fra tutti la crostata ricotta e limone. Prezzo qualità più che ottimo

18/02/2025: Dinner with friends with 2 little girls, we almost all took pizzas which were normally good, the cuisine was much better in my opinion, the place was well kept and clean, a fairly traditional restaurant, a modernized historic place, the desserts were plentiful and good.

The pizza is excellent, made in the room and visible to customers, and the various dishes offered to customers are interesting. It is possible to book take-away pizza even when the restaurant is full without having to wait long. Prices normal.
