21/02/2026: I visited this restaurant in December 2025 with rather high expectations, especially given the refined and selective image the establishment seems to project. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of what was implicitly promised. The setting appears sophisticated, but upon closer inspection, a pervasive sense of artificiality emerges: the elegance appears constructed, almost ostentatious, while the finishes and materials are surprisingly ordinary, in stark contrast to the "niche" positioning the establishment claims to have. The welcome was decidedly unpleasant. The waiter who greeted us immediately appeared prejudiced, with a stiff and unfriendly attitude. Throughout the evening, he remained rude, haughty, and unwilling to listen. On several occasions, he demonstrated a lack of attention to requests and, even more seriously, a lack of transparency in his responses. One incident in particular negatively affected the dinner: we were offered tagliolini with white truffle, which was not on the menu. After repeatedly asking for confirmation of the pasta shape—several times, with extreme clarity—we were served tagliatelle instead. A detail that may seem minor, but in a restaurant that aspires to stand out for its precision and quality, it becomes emblematic of sloppy management and disrespect for the customer. The cuisine, overall, was adequate but lacking in flair: decent dishes, without any particular flaws, but also without anything that warrants enthusiasm or lasting memory. Everything was decidedly average. The bill, however, was anything but average: high compared to what was actually served, and difficult to justify given the overall experience. In short, a restaurant that aspires to a level that, at least from what we experienced, it fails to even begin to sustain. Inadequate service, questionable hospitality, and cuisine that doesn't make up for its shortcomings. A disappointing experience, made even more unpleasant by the attitude of the wait staff, which was decidedly out of place. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.

30/01/2026: I was in Vipiteno to visit the Christmas markets and had lunch at this renowned restaurant located in the historic center, very close to the Torre delle Dodici. It has a wine shop with many Alto Adige wines. The cuisine is very traditional and refined (with the freshest ingredients). Rating: excellent (the best I can give). Fantastic culinary experience...

07/02/2026: There were five of us, and everyone raved about the pizza. It really is excellent; the base is made of a thin yet crispy dough. There's also a large parking lot, less than 5 minutes from the Mebo exit.

10/10/2025: Rustic yet welcoming, the interior decor is inviting. The outdoor terrace offers a panoramic view of the entire valley. The traditional dishes are plentiful and of excellent quality. The staff is friendly and attentive. Prices are average, and the portions will satisfy even the most discerning palates. Definitely worth a try.

17/11/2025: For many years now, we have returned to the HOTEL KAUFMANN for our holidays. We feel very comfortable here, and after 15 years of family vacations, our children have grown up here as if it were their second home. The outstanding cuisine deserves special mention. Dear Fabian, we owe it to you that the food always tastes so good to ALL of us, and we can't wait to enjoy your delicious treats. Everything is always fresh, homemade, and organic!! Everything is perfectly prepared. It couldn't be better, thank you so much! It should also be mentioned that the outdoor pool has become a very successful constantly improving addition to your oasis of well-being. The entire hotel exudes a very pleasant tranquility, and the commendable cleanliness, as well as the comfortable furnishings, always make it a relaxing stay for us. ... 28/10/2025: It was fantastic, beautiful rooms, very friendly service, a varied and delicious breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, we could only stay one night, but I've saved the address for my next longer stay in South Tyrol. Thank you for your kindness.

25/12/2025: I've been going there for years, but this year I was disappointed. Prices have gone up and are different for tourists and locals, a glass of tap water costs €1.20, and the service is at a minimum. It's convenient because it's close to the ski lifts, which is a shame. I also don't like the latest renovation; they removed the fireplace and bathrooms to make room for tables.

17/12/2025: We had an excellent meal here today. The atmosphere was lovely, bright, very modern yet cozy, the staff were very friendly, and the food was superb. Both the Tyrolean Gröstl with beef and fresh coleslaw and the tagliatelle with cherry tomatoes were truly outstanding. To finish, we had two scoops of homemade ice cream. Fantastic! We'll definitely be back.

03/03/2026: Good food but the service is not good. First of all, the food is not arriving at the same time when sitting with a group. The pizza oven and the kitchen is working at different speeds. Also, the staff was unfriendly, not speaking English and it was hard to communicate. They also told us that the kitchen was closed at 21.30, even though it was written that the kitchen was open until 21.45.

06/01/2026: We had a truly wonderful time staying at Gasthof Kohlern. The fresh, high-quality (often locally-sourced) food and the hospitality were our favorite parts. The waitstaff showed upmost professionalism but also a relaxed kindness that made us feel really at home. We hope to come back!

20/12/2025: I left a €50 deposit and had to cancel after 10 minutes due to an error. I called and asked if I could reverse the transaction, and they told me that to get the deposit back, I only had to take €20 because they were keeping €30 for the refund. This doesn't seem normal to me; I've never heard of anything like it.

01/03/2026: Today we stopped at this chalet for the second time. Another day we'd just had a quick drink, but unfortunately, today, March 1, 2026, it was very disappointing. 1. The wait to be served is understandable if the products are of good quality, but after quite a while, my son's burger arrived. He kept asking me why, because it was cold and dry. If we waited so long, I thought they were preparing it. 2. I really don't think the tagliatelle with wild boar ragù were wild boar. We're always on weekends in Alto Adige, and I've never eaten wild boar like that (it tastes like canned meat). For the rest, what can I say?

14/09/2025: Unassuming small place with incredible food, so I have to congratulate the cook. The staff is also friendly. The prices aren't seem in huts anymore, unfortunately.

23/09/2025: When hiking to the small Montiggler Lake, you absolutely have to stop at the self-service restaurant. The food is simple but excellent. And the surroundings, location, and atmosphere are first-class. I've been coming here since 1969!

03/03/2026: I stayed at this property for a month and had a truly excellent experience. The building is modern, meticulously maintained, and impeccably clean. The owners, Melanie and Andreas, are extraordinary people: always available, attentive to every need, and extremely friendly. The staff also stands out for their professionalism, kindness, and helpfulness. The atmosphere is familiar and welcoming: from the first moment, you feel at home. I also had the opportunity to visit the kitchen, which is impeccably organized and meticulously maintained. The quality of the food is excellent: I sampled numerous typical South Tyrolean dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and handcrafted by a truly talented chef. From the starters to the main courses, right down to the desserts, every course was exquisite. The rooms are spacious, always perfectly tidy, and offer splendid views. The hotel's location is strategic: both by car and public transportation, you can easily reach all the main attractions in the area. There's also ample outdoor parking. My heartfelt thanks to everyone I've had the pleasure of meeting during this time. I'll definitely be back!

26/02/2026: Dear Melanie and Andreas, and to the whole team, we had a wonderful few days with you 🙏 All our wishes and questions were answered as quickly as possible. You were incredibly friendly and attentive. Andreas always prepared a sugar-free dessert for me, which was always delicious 😋 👍 Despite the hotel being full, we felt very comfortable. The hotel is charmingly furnished, the sauna area is fantastic, and drinks and dried fruit were always available. Since we were going to the competitions/Olympic Games, all the necessary information was gathered for us. The National Park House offers a wealth of information and opportunities to participate in events. We even baked bread with a local herbalist. The village is located right in the heart of the national park. We wish you all the best and hope you continue to do such a great job 👏👏👏👏👍 Frank and Andrea 🤗

28/09/2025: Peter and David, two originals, make you forget the everyday. A quaint wine bar, tucked away in a back courtyard on Rennweg. A must-stop. The wine advice and the wines are top-notch, the snacks to accompany the wine are delicious. The music will make you dream of times gone by, and to top it off: our Giant Schnauzer, Digger, is never left out 😊
