14/03/2025: A bumpy start with a stellar finish. My room was facing the square and was incredibly quiet and peaceful. I felt safe sleeping with the window open, breeze coming in. One night with a magical thunder & lightening storm. I slept better there than any other location on my lengthy trip. Hot water and great water pressure A+++ But, the best part was the staff and the people. I wish that I could name them all. The booking manager went out of his way to assist with a booking error that was all my fault. Quite an ordeal for him to correct. I am grateful. The front end manager took care of a room issue upon arrival and went above and beyond to make it better than okay... Specifically, two of the people that helped with room service were gracious and kind. It's wonderful to be greeted with that energy first thing in the morning. The restaurant and bar staff were kind, friendly and helpful daily. They really made me feel welcome and at home in Florence. The food is exceptional. You mist try the chocolate chip cookies and chocolate croissant- better than France I don't normally care for chocolate and these were a favorite! The touch of salt in the cookie and crispness at the edge! Masterful! The breakfast buffet is A+++ Beautifully displayed, large variety of options- FRESH! I had 3 dinners onsite- I loved the chicken Cesar salad. Pasta was delicate with complex flavors...Room service for breakfast made working from my room and a slow pace in the morning essential for the ease of my stay. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating when I messed up with the room service ordering. They went above & beyond to help and make me feel comfortable. The hotel is in the perfect location. Close to walk to everything. Taxis a few steps away which is good because with traffic - requesting a car can take a bit to get to you before you even begin. Train & public transportation 5 min away. As a female solo traveler, I felt extremely safe in this location. The over arching theme was the kindness of the staff - across the board. I am grateful... and... I can't wait to return and have recommended Grand Hotel Minerva to many headed to Florence.

22/03/2025: Consigliato da un caro amico mi sono fidato. Purtroppo sono rimasto deluso dalla qualità del servizio davvero pessima e dal prezzo davvero esagerato per la qualità del cibo. Eravamo in 6 persone ci hanno portato un prosecco e non hanno sostituito nemmeno i bicchieri! abbiamo bevuto il vino negli stessi bicchieri! ordinato due antipasti un Hamburger una bistecca per 4 persone ( meno di 2 kg ) un piatto di maiale alla griglia patate al forno e un peperone alla griglia. Arrivata la bistecca buona ma ho mangiato di meglio arrivato il maiale alla griglia e l'Hamburger?? arrivato dopo 30 minuti!! praticamente che aveva ordinato l'Hamburger ci ha visto cenare! e nemmeno una scusa. Boh.. alla fine tre dolci 4 caffè e una grappa il tutto servito in bicchieri ci carta nemmeno al tempo de Covid! alla fine il conto. Abbiamo speso più di 42,50 a testa. Davvero troppo per il servizio e la qualità del cibo. Locale carino ma una trattoria niente di più. Peccato.

17/03/2025: A Guarantee, Massimo is an exquisite person, like the meat he gives you and cooks expertly for you in his little restaurant. One of the best steaks I've ever eaten in Tuscany. Also worth trying are the Carpacci and tartare 💪🏻

14/03/2025: We took advice from the owner and we did well: Chianti tuna (it's not tuna, but pork with fresh onion and cannellini beans), fettuccine with lampredotto sauce and gnudi with butter and sage, peposo. To finish cantucci (artisanal!) and vin santo. Homely atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Moderate prices: 70 euros for two including cover charge and drinks (house wine). Highly recommended!

16/03/2025: We arrived for lunch on Sunday without booking and were seated immediately. The experience was very positive for both the service and the cuisine. Excellent raw material cooked very well indeed, and in the center of Florence it is certainly not a given not to end up in a tourist-catching place. Liver crostini, truffle burrata and fresh homemade pasta with various condiments. All very good. Honest account. Well done, we'll be back

03/03/2025: What does it mean to eat at your home, even though you are in the center of Florence? It means Giova. Homemade and excellent culinary experience, typical dishes of excellent quality and abundant quantities, certainly above the Florentine average. The cost of a meal is below many trattorias in the city, an incredible value for money! The location deserves respect, being a fairly small place, it brings you back to a welcoming atmosphere and the owners, together with those who work WITH them (and not FOR them, big difference), make the stay pleasant for all diners.

That’s exactly how we stumbled upon Antica Trattoria La Toppa, a hidden gem in the heart of Tuscany. It was our first time in this breathtaking region, and we wanted to immerse ourselves in the local culture. I had bookmarked this little trattoria while planning our family vacation, and since we were staying at a nearby winery outside San Donato, it seemed like the perfect spot for our first dinner. Pro tip: Be ready to walk! San Donato is a tiny, charming town where cars aren’t allowed inside, so you’ll have to park on the outskirts. Trust me, the short stroll through the medieval streets only adds to the experience. As we arrived, I confidently asked for a table for four—only to be met with a surprised look. “Do you have a reservation?” the host asked. Rookie mistake. This wasn’t a tourist trap; this was a true local institution, where the townspeople gathered for their nightly meal. But luck (or maybe fate) was on our side. The owner, warm and welcoming, found a way to squeeze us in. Walking into La Toppa felt like stepping into Nonna’s dining room—cozy, inviting, and filled with the scent of something incredible cooking in the kitchen. The staff was beyond friendly, happy to guide us through the menu, and the wine selection? Impeccable. Determined not to repeat my rookie mistake, I made a reservation for our last night in Tuscany—one final indulgence before heading to Venice. When we returned, the owner greeted us with a smile, clearly amused that I had learned my lesson. We started with delicious appetizers, but the real showstopper was the Bistecca alla Fiorentina. Before cooking, the chef himself came to our table, proudly displaying the massive cut of steak. “How would you like it prepared?” he asked. Without hesitation, we replied, “Chef’s choice.” His face lit up—a chef’s dream answer. Moments later, he returned with the most perfectly cooked steak, sliced and ready to be devoured. As we dug in, the owner and his father checked on us, grinning when they saw us passing around the massive bone, making sure we didn’t waste a single bite. The ultimate seal of approval? The owner’s father nodding in satisfaction as we unabashedly enjoyed our meal the Tuscan way. When it was time to leave, the chef personally thanked us for letting him cook for us—a true honor. But the night wasn’t over yet. As we went to pay, the owner ran into technical issues with his payment system, clearly frustrated. After sorting it out, he surprised us with a bottle of house wine, insisting we take it as a token of appreciation. Oh, and did I mention? La Toppa is featured in the Michelin Guide. But even if it weren’t, it would still be one of the best places I’ve ever accidentally walked into. Lesson learned: Some accidents are meant to happen.

17/03/2025: They reported on the external booking portal that I didn't show up at the scheduled time when in fact I had lunch there and I had a receipt with the date and time.

20/03/2025: Beautiful wine shop a stone's throw from the Duomo. Well stocked and not crowded like tourist restaurants, you can drink excellent wine and taste excellent appetizers.
