08/02/2025: You need to book. We had an 8pm reservation and people were being turned away and later we could see why. Completely full on a Friday night. We were a little apprehensive reading the mixed reviews but we had a fantastic experience and this really was our best meal in Bologna although a lot of restaurants ran a very close second. This is a totally family restaurant presenting traditional recipes from the time this was restaurant was established in 1955. Father (80 years old) is at the front of house. His son and daughter are running a fantastic team of waiters and waitresses who go out of their way to be helpful even through the restaurant is completely full. Their mother is in their kitchen cooking and supervising the food. What is there not to like! Due to the high ceilings, the noise level is not noticeable although everyone at each table was talking. Mixture of locals and a few tourists. We were lucky to have locals beside us who ordered before us so we could see what they were eating and drinking although the waiters and waitresses are happy to help with recommendations. Now for the food. They have specials. I had the duck ragu which was most enjoyable with the homemade tissue pasta. My wife had the artichoke flan. Not a flan with pastry but more a mousse. Delicious with fresh artichokes. To follow wild boar pasta and the moistest guinea fowl with delicious potatoes. We couldn’t resist their special dessert of pastry ravioli with pear (and fig?) jam with a glass of dessert wine. Not expensive for what we ate compared with other restaurants in this vicinity. Ignore the poor reviews and go and enjoy your meal. As the owner said, everyone is entitled to their opinion. They don’t say anything at the time but write afterwards.

08/02/2025: Lovely family restaurant with attentive and friendly staff. Delicious food. Try the soft ice cream with almond brittle for a delicious finish to a great meal. Good value as well.

27/02/2025: It's so, so delicious. Eat lasagna. Eat sliced ​​beef. Eat tiramisu. Eat boiled potatoes, not fried ones!! I wonder how delicious the other menus are as well. The server is so kind and professional!!! It's a shame I only stayed in Bologna for one day🥹 Anyway, I had a really great time eating delicious food!!

27/03/2025: I honestly didn’t like any of my dishes. They were just ok. So did my wife, she didn’t like her food. Only my son seemed to enjoy his dishes. It’s a pricy restaurant on top of that. Anyhow, the service here is excellent and very friendly. Also, the ambiance and seating is very nice.

23/03/2025: We had lunch here today and we loved everything, a beautiful playlist by Lucio Dalla in the background, an elegant and welcoming environment and the dishes are really amazing. Don't miss the tiramisu, among the best I've ever eaten!

01/03/2025: We tried the restaurant after seeing that it was in the Michelin guide, but unfortunately we were a little disappointed... which we didn't expect seeing the excellent reviews. The tastings are really at a great price. We can only recommend the Tacos, truly exceptional but we found the rest of the courses too spicy and the desserts very heavy which we didn't finish. We will probably try to go there again knowing that the menu changes often but it's a shame. Excellent service and price.

01/04/2025: Amazing Experience! A truly exceptional restaurant! We initially tried to get a table the night before but, unfortunately, they were fully booked. However, the staff went out of their way to accommodate us, although it was a little too late. We returned the following evening, and it was absolutely worth the wait! The service, food, and atmosphere were all outstanding. The staff made us feel incredibly welcome, and we were even impressed by how dog-friendly the restaurant is! If you're visiting Bologna, I wholeheartedly recommend this place – without a doubt, it's the best meal I've had in Italy.

23/03/2025: Yesterday we went to Vamolino with some friends and spent a very pleasant evening. We had booked for 8.30pm and as soon as we arrived the table was ready. In summary: • Exquisite food and fair value for money • Fast and attentive service • Very nice, clean and lively environment We will definitely return and recommend it to anyone who is in Bologna and doesn't know where to eat :)

23/02/2025: After seeing the comic sketches on fb of the restaurant and the traditional Emilian-Romagnola dishes, we decided to treat ourselves to an evening of flavor and joy. You enter a single environment that already offers a sense of conviviality, objects hanging on the walls such as photos, snowballs, wine houses, toys recall a family experience and immediately put you at ease. The staff welcomes you with kindness. Tasty and fragrant dishes, but the green tagliatelle with nettle and grandma Iole's ragù are truly the best in the world, as the owner says!!!!! Beautiful evening! We will return.

22/02/2025: A simply wonderful place. Small location (reservation is a must) and characteristic managed by very kind guys. Even the chef came out of the kitchen to find out if we had enjoyed lunch! The tagliatelle with meat sauce are truly exceptional... but the whole menu is truly noteworthy. Watch out for the portions because we exaggerated with the dishes and unfortunately we weren't able to taste the desserts! The eggnog inspired us a lot.. it's far from home but we will definitely be back.. and next time we will save a little hole for dessert! Well done, good, good

23/02/2025: Fabulous! We returned here after two years in which we continued to dream of tagliatelle, crescentine, balanzoni, fiordilatte, and the warm welcome of Michele and his family. Everything even better than I remembered! Each dish tells of their love for cooking, the portions are very generous, the ingredients are all of excellent quality, giving space to local producers, from cured meats to mascarpone. It's worth coming to these parts even just for a dinner at Tiro (we returned with the whole family from Florence!). Thanks and... See you next time!
