07/06/2026: We stopped at Lo Scudo planning to have a cocktail and maybe an appetizer before moving on. Instead, we ended up staying for dinner, and we are glad we did. The aged Bistecca alla Fiorentina was outstanding. Great flavor, perfectly prepared, and exactly what you hope for when ordering a steak in Florence. My wife prefers her steak a little more well done, and the kitchen was happy to prepare a few slices separately for her. That kind of flexibility and attention to detail goes a long way. The cheese plate and bread were excellent, some of the best we have had during our time in Italy. The isole e olena Chianti recommendation paired perfectly with the steak and was exactly what we were looking for. 3 boys we used as a snack. A big reason we stayed was Mateo. He was welcoming from the start, knew the menu inside and out, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and genuine. There was never any pressure, just good recommendations and great service. What started as a quick stop for a drink turned into one of our favorite meals in Florence. Great food, great wine, and a local atmosphere that felt authentic. We would absolutely come back and highly recommend Lo Scudo.

05/04/2026: The best ice cream in all of Salò! Great selection and even some unusual flavors! There's even a good selection for vegans! The ice cream is very creamy and has a very intense flavor!

03/05/2026: ★★★☆☆ The food here is absolutely fantastic and the vibe is something special honestly, both deserve five stars on their own. It's the kind of place you want to love, and in some ways we did. However, the service really let the experience down. From the moment we walked in, we didn't feel particularly welcome. Throughout the evening we noticed other guests who arrived after us being attended to first, our food took noticeably longer to come out compared to the tables around us, and at the end of the meal we waited a long time for the bill while our waiter was occupied with other things. No complaints whatsoever about the food or the atmosphere they're the reason we'd even consider returning. But great food deserves great hospitality, and unfortunately that part didn't match up on our visit. Hopefully just an off night, because this place has real potential to be a favourite.

16/05/2026: We ordered the lasagna, which was great, and the ravioli, which was also very tasty, but it only had 3 small squares of filled pasta. I'm always intrigued by why the ravioli portions are so small. So, here's my rating: 3 stars, 1 for each ravioli.

12/05/2026: Delicious food, we weren't expecting it here. Beef tartare, skirt steak skewers, macaroni with pulled pork, and smoked ribs. The menu has so much more to offer... Highly recommended.

24/05/2026: For breakfast, with their Sunday Special Day, we chose their Pain Suisse and Papillon from among the many options. What can I say? They're incredibly delicious, flaky and crunchy. The custard has a delicate and enveloping flavor. The coffee is top-quality. The atmosphere is very refined and bright. We were greeted with a smile and felt pampered by the owners, Michela and Fabio. We then picked up some pastries to take away. The pastry shop offers a wide variety of miniature pastries, and pastry chef Michela gave us perfect advice. Thank you to everyone at Pasticceria Desiderio.

13/10/2025: It was actually better than I expected! I tried the hazelnut and stracciatella flavors, and they were really good. It’s definitely a nice spot, though not the best gelato I’ve had in Rome.

09/06/2026: We have spent a week in Italy, including Rome, Florence and Venice. Our family has decided this was our favorite restaurant of the whole trip! We just wish we had gone here a day sooner as we were in Venice for two days and would have gone again if we could. Very reasonable for healthy food with a beautiful presentation. The restaurant is very clean and lovely.
