04/01/2026: A typical trattoria in the center of Siena, good food, and a very authentic restaurant. The only flaw is that they close at 2:30 PM, meaning that if you get to the limit, the staff will try to make you feel welcome, but you can tell they can't wait for you to finish and leave to close up. Understandable, but I think if you want to run a restaurant in the center of a city like Siena, you can't even consider closing so early. But all in all, a great experience. Oh, I forgot, when you name dishes, especially traditional ones, you have to respect them. Spaghetti all'assassina: not even the spaghetti was worthy of a review.

06/03/2026: Excellent, tasty, and authentic food! A truly worthy osteria. We ordered the house mixed antipasto for two, with various selections of chicken livers, lampredotto, and cured meats; for the main course, 1.2kg of Florentine steak with roast potatoes. Spectacular! Fair price for what it offers! I'd say we'll be back, but we've already been back 😅

08/03/2026: We're lucky to have found this place, the lunch was amazing, from the service and presentation to the dessert! The entrees were perfectly prepared, and my ravioli with tartufo was delicious. I highly recommend it. I'm thrilled!

10/03/2026: Experience on Saturday, March 7, 2026: Looking for a good Florentine steak, I booked two days in advance. I checked the website and the reviews, and it was excellent. The website lists the available cuts of meat, and we can't wait. We show up 15 minutes early. There are people ahead of us waiting to be seated, so I go over and tell the girl I have a reservation. She tells me to wait a moment. Another couple comes in and says they also have reservations. Well, the girl seats the two people who arrived after us, and we're no longer considered. Oh well, I wait another 5 minutes and then remind the girl that we're the ones from before who are waiting. She tells me they're freeing up the table. We're off to a bad start, but never mind, these things happen. We're given the menu to scan with a QR code. While looking at it, I notice two strange things: the menu is different from the one on the website, with one big difference: there's no sign of Florentine steak! We consult and think they might be taking it for granted. After another 10 minutes, a very kind young woman arrives to take my order. I immediately ask her for the Florentine steak, but she tells me it's not on the menu because it's only available in the summer, and that the official menu is the one you can access internally via QR code. Well, I tell her I booked because I saw their menu on their official website, but the one I'm looking at doesn't match that. She's visibly upset, but she tells me there's nothing she can do. So we decide to get up and leave the restaurant, definitely never going back. Since I'm a restaurateur and my partner is a chef, I never expected such treatment, or at least for the owner to show up and apologize. I'm sorry to be among the few who give it a star, and the 4.5 rating is certainly deserved, but not in this case.

27/01/2026: Less than 100 meters from the Duomo, there's this wonderful restaurant where I enjoyed the chicken with tarragon. I'd never had it before, and I must say, it was delicious! Excellent service, a comfortable and well-kept atmosphere, and excellent value. PS: It was so good that I returned for dinner, welcomed by the courteous Simona and Anastasia. In addition to the aforementioned chicken, I also tried the pici with wild boar, which were amazing! Special thanks to Simone!

17/11/2025: I have known the Capannina for a long time (2000) and can therefore provide my latest experience after years of not coming to dine in this restaurant. The dishes in general have lost in quality as well as in quantity given that we got up hungry. The bill was salty but the satisfaction in eating the dishes ordered was almost zero. I am willing to pay even €100 but the dish must be well cooked and the quantities must be proportionate. A fried food can be charged €15 but it must be substantial and not scarce like the one they brought me. The dessert was even smaller than normal, ridiculous portions at 5 euros each. In short, the customer is not stupid, do you want to charge €15-18 for the dishes? So first of all, make them well (the octopus was very salty and mushy) and don't reduce the quantity too much or it will become ridiculous. Furthermore, last but not least, for reasons of hygiene, waitresses should wear their hair tied up and not in the wind.

25/02/2026: The service staff was rude and aggressive. We went to the trattoria across the street, Leone. We had a wonderful time. We were attacked as soon as we arrived by a man (I presume the waiter from Loggiato) who shouted that we couldn't sit at the table. He then proceeded to insult us in a threatening manner. Disgraceful behavior.

They had changed a starter without telling us, instead of a mascarpone cream with licorice & lemongrass they served artichoke alla giudea with mayonnaise 🤷‍♀️ The pasta that was a speciality for the evening sounded so good when he explained it turned out to be a regular tomato sauce with a local garlic, well...

09/03/2026: The food is good, and the staff is knowledgeable about both ingredients and wines. The place isn't accessible and feels a bit claustrophobic. Furthermore, the menu doesn't offer a wide variety of first or second courses. There's no Tuscan Chianina Florentine steak, only the Piedmontese one. Even the most traditional dishes are prepared with the addition of more modern ingredients and methods that distort the character of the dishes. Definitely not a typical osteria. Perhaps more of a tourist restaurant, with high prices. It's a shame. There aren't many other options in the area, so the choice perhaps seems a bit forced... I don't think I'll return.

23/02/2026: Nothing special, gourmet portions for very bland dishes. The spinach flan was decidedly flavorless, the garlic was good but not exceptional, and the ribollita was poor. The only decent thing was the lamb rump. Definitely too expensive for what you get.

08/12/2025: A restaurant in the center of Siena, where we decided to have lunch during our stay. The place is quite well-kept, though it's a shame about some of the seating options (a small makeshift counter/large table shared with strangers) aren't very comfortable. Otherwise, the staff is very friendly, and we had a wonderful meal!

08/12/2025: Beautiful place. Exceptional lampredotto sandwich. Generous portions and very fair prices. Seats are a bit uncomfortable, but worth it.

21/11/2025: The culinary offerings and wine selections were exceptional, making the dining experience highly worthwhile. The staff demonstrated exceptional friendliness and helpfulness throughout the meal. The gardens are equally impressive, providing an ideal setting for a leisurely stroll after lunch.

04/11/2025: The lamb was very tasty and the portion was large. The wine recommendations were also delicious, but I found them a bit acidic. The appetizers served before our orders were nice.
