28/07/2025: All the staff were pleasant except for the one we believe was one of the owners. He put us in two rather awkward situations due to the kitchen closing time and the choice of food. It's a shame because the food is reasonable and the rest of the staff was lovely. All the waiters and the other owner were very attentive. Except for this gentleman's manner, the rest was fine.

28/07/2025: A Service Disappointment An experience that unfortunately proved disappointing despite the attractive location and the quality of the products offered. Our reservation was set for 1:00 PM. My partner and I, along with our child, arrived 20 minutes early. Even though the other couple hadn't arrived yet, we were immediately asked if we wanted to order, clearly showing a rush to get our drinks and clear the table. Our inquiries about the dishes were met with curt responses that seemed to annoy the staff. The climax came when we received the bill. After requesting four amaros, the waiter returned to say that, due to an evening event and the need to prepare the restaurant, they couldn't serve us (it was 2:50 PM). A few seconds later, he returned with a single glass of amaro, almost as if doing us a favor, accompanied by the POS machine to charge us and "clear" the table. Considering a cost of around €80 per person, I would have expected a much different experience, especially in Tuscany, a region renowned for its hospitality. In short, the Albergaccio di Castellina offers quality products, but the excessive price, combined with rushed and unwelcoming service, make the overall experience unsatisfactory. This is a real shame, because in Tuscany there are equally culinary-quality restaurants, but where the welcome is decidedly warmer.

05/08/2025: We came on the recommendation of our guide and were not disappointed. Exceptionally good food, delicately seasoned, introduced us to Tuscan cuisine. A clear recommendation for high-quality food and a pleasant atmosphere. It's a pleasure to be a guest here. We would have liked to come more often, but we were told that only cash payments were accepted.

03/08/2025: Change of ownership! We were regulars at this authentic and discreet restaurant, run by two charming gentlemen, with a small, simple menu full of flavors. Always recommended by the 2025 Routard guide, it's now very different. We're always very well received by a smiling and friendly team, the prices are always reasonable, the decor is even more pleasant in this magnificent location, and the food is good but not exceptional. We should give them a chance and not compare them with their old identity!

A culinary experience we recommend to all lovers of good food. Here's a taste of our gastronomic journey: 🧀 The creamy pecorino fondue with truffle sauce: a standing ovation-worthy start! 🍝 The pici with venison ragù: a first course that is pure Tuscan poetry, rich and enveloping. 🥩 The fillet with truffle sauce and the tagliata with arugula and parmesan: the meat, the true star, tender and flavorful. 🍖 And to finish in style, the lamb: an authentic flavor that ended our dinner on a sweet note. A perfect blend of tradition and flavor, all in a welcoming atmosphere and with a romantic view 🥰. Congratulations to the legendary Marisa for giving us such emotions at the table!

26/08/2025: Unique location!! Under the Torre del Mangia, in an enchanting atmosphere, we enjoyed excellent dishes, traditional Sienese dishes prepared with passion. The service staff are professional, friendly, and impeccable. WELL DONE!!!

03/08/2025: Quiet and cozy. The food was good, but not exceptional. We would have liked to have pizza, but that's only available for dinner in the evening. We ordered two bruschettas and a pasta dish to share. The pici cacio e pepe was tasty, but a bit too salty. The bruschettas were plain.

02/08/2025: Osteria Del Gatto in Siena is a true gem! I can't believe I've only just discovered it. The dishes are classic Tuscan cuisine, but every single one has that special touch from the chef that makes them unforgettable. The freshest ingredients and exceptional dishes, even the side dishes. Unambiguous meraviglioso and perfetto per cenare, il cibo è delizioso, gli ingredienti sono freschi, la selezione di vini è buona and c'è anche un leggero di zolfo nell'aria portato dalle terme vicine. 11/08/2025: I enjoyed an excellent lampredotto (really, really good. If you like strong flavors or offal, like me, try it!), pici with Sienese ragù, and gnocchetti with pesto and truffles, all perfectly cooked... in short, love with flavor... local cuisine is confirmed as one of my favorites. A well-stocked selection of local wines. The staff is well-trained, professional, and friendly. The osteria doesn't have much seating inside, but they also set up tables outside. I recommend booking to ensure you can enjoy their cuisine in peace. This Sunday, I was also lucky enough to dine to the sound of the drums of one of the city's contrade (districts) marching in Piazza del Campo (I won't reveal the name to avoid confusion, but as a tourist, I'm not biased), which I deeply appreciated. I love events like this, and the combination of tradition and local cuisine only makes me love Tuscany more and more. Thank you, and I will definitely return to this restaurant as soon as I have the opportunity to pass through Siena!

10/08/2025: Located on a side street off Piazza del Campo, as a Tuscan, I can finally say I've eaten authentic Tuscan cuisine! Despite its location, forget about the typical tourist restaurant. Here, the service is friendly and the food is authentic, all for a truly fair price.
