18/08/2024: Located in a suggestive location among the narrow streets of Siena... you don't expect to find a great little gem... a place of great charm... the curiosity was whether the dishes respected the location... expectations respected... Tuscan dishes from ancient flavor but made modern... the genuine quality was perceived throughout... we wanted typical non-touristy dishes... and we guessed it... impossible to indicate one dish superior to another given that everyone (there were six of us) chose something different and in the end we tasted them all... I agree that they were all excellent and then it clearly depends on personal taste... for example I don't eat meat but the steak was very good and tender... I could have eaten it too. ..prepared and kind staff...thanks to Paolo the Owner who guided us pleasantly in the choices...and also told us a bit of the story given our curiosity about the exhibited photos of famous people who passed through his restaurant and the architecture particular of the place...excellent experience thank you very much

06/07/2024: We loved this restaurant! The views were spectacular overlooking the countryside. It definitely had the traditional dishes we’ve come to expect from the area but a few different options including fried chicken with friend vegetables in a tempura style. And these fried potatoes that were a cross between a potato chip and a French fry. Really good.

09/07/2024: Our hotel concierge recommended this place or we would have NEVER found it or thought to go here. On the main street in the tiny town of Montisi, it looks to be a small caffe or deli from the outside, but you must go left and up the stairs to the restaurant. There are maybe 8-10 tables in 2 small dining areas. They start you with a complimentary glass of white wine which is delightful. There are no written menus, rather the servers come and tell you what they have for each of the courses. You have to kind of "hope" the prices aren't anything outrageous. But be assured, dining here will not break your bank - all menu items are reasonable. And delicious! The walls are lined with bottles of (mostly) local wine and you can peruse if you wish but there is also no written wine list. They asked us what type of wine we wanted - we said RED, something local - and they recommended a lovely, very affordable bottle from Montalcino. We had a delicious meat and cheese platter to start, some pasta dishes (the tagliatelle with garlic sauce was YUM), then I had a roasted chicken entree and my husband had a "meat loaf". The chocolate Cantucci for dessert was unique and delicious! NOT TO MENTION, Geoffrey Rush (actor from Pirates of the Caribbean fame) was sitting at a table right next to us. !! Apparently he lives in the area.

06/07/2024: We were exploring nearby towns on stumbled on Montisi which quaint but a little sleepy. We decided to look for this restaurant based on its ratings and had a wonderful experience. We were initially put off by the casual bar downstairs but once we found our way to the restaurant upstairs it was much nicer. Still some what plain in terms of ambiance but it is quickly made up for by the personality of the host Jean Luca. ( not sure if I have his name spelled correctly) He pulled up a chair up out table and chatted for a few minutes. Word to the wise.. there is no written menu…he verbally reviews all the courses and then takes your order…so you better pay attention! The food, wine and service were all great.

26/08/2024: Taverne traditionnelle dans le village de Vagliagli, à proximité de Sienne. Cuisine délicieuse et prix raisonnables. Les meilleures côtes d'agneau que nous ayons jamais mangées. Vraiment ! Un bémol cependant sur l'accueil et la qualité du service. Nous recommandons vivement cependant pour la qualité de la cuisine.

25/08/2024: Sono due anni che in occasione del palio di Siena del 16 agosto la serata di ferragosto dopo una giornata in piscina ceniamo in questo ristorante. Si trova a circa 10 km. Da Siena in un borgo bomboniera che si visita in 10 minuti. L’ambiente è caratteristico e d’estate si mangia in una veranda all’esterno molto bella con tavoli ben distanziati e ben apparecchiati. La scelta di pietanze non è solo quella tipica della zona ma noi avendolo provato l’anno scorso su consiglio di amici per la Fiorentina ci siamo riandati per riprovare le ottime sensazioni culinarie di cui eravamo rimasti estremamente soddisfatti. L’esperienza è stata di nuovo ottima e ci ritorneremo di sicuro. Super consigliato!

15/07/2024: Da sempre per noi Barbi non era solo ottima cantina di vini.ma anche una delizia per il palato con raffinati piatti toscani curatissimi!! Da qualche anno il ristorante ha purtroppo ceduto il.passo ad un angolo di degustazione.Un peccato ma sicuramente comunque una soluzione piacevole con ottimi prodotti e vini eccellenti. Quest'anno abbiamo portato amici con noi..e ci siamo trovati nella bellissima sala a gistare formaggi e salumi di prima qualità...ma ERRORE INACCETTABILE ,,considerando la location ed i prodotti, portando a tavola un pane rinsecchito e vecchio che neppure le galline ambirebbero trovar come dieta! Non si può cadere su questo.....son cose che si pagano e sia noi che i nostri amici siamo rimasti DELUSISSIMI tanto da non voler tornare più sicuramente! Un pane stantio..non aiuta a valorizzare come si dovrebbe gli ottimi prodotti oltretutto non certo "regalati"! Esperienza di anni che si chiude qui!

01/09/2024: Excellent location, Piazza Mercato, a few steps from Piazza de Il Campo. We had dinner 2 times in a row, being 3 people, enjoying different dishes. An excellent review for the Fiorentina cooked to PUNTINO accompanied with grilled vegetables, without taking anything away from the other well-executed and presented dishes. Highly recommended also for the absolutely right price in terms of quality/price.

28/08/2024: La Finestra is serving great, traditional Tuscan cuisine in a slightly off-the-beaten track location that you can't help but feel works against them, albeit without them going to great lengths to create atmosphere in spite of their headwinds. We arrived to find we were one of only three occupied tables. Not surprising as we were eating relatively early (for Italy), 7.15pm. But what was immediately evident was the lack of music... it's like kryptonite for making a restaurant feel absent of ambience. We ordered and were given a bread basket that contained pre-packaged bread sticks. Not an ideal start, but luckily all was saved when the first course arrived. The caprese salad was fresh and delicious, and the wild boar charcuterie an excellent way of building appetite for the main. To follow, the cacio e pepe was a solid dish and the steak and salad fantastically cooked. The food ultimately was better than the atmosphere, and as we walked home past several buzzing restaurants we couldn't help but feel that La Finestra is a bit of an unsung hero in search of an audience.

02/07/2024: in un luogo fantastico che è La Rocca di Castagnoli, il ristorante Il Celliere è magico ed elegante. Accoglienza e cortesia sono il benvenuto in questo magnifico locale. La cura dei particolari e la qualità dell'ambiente è alta ma gioviale. Il menù è ricchissimo di proposte, i piatti curatissimi e presentati ad arte sono una squisitezza. Il servizio molto attento e cordiale. La grande scelta dei vini completa il tutto, Ottimi i Chianti locali. Bravissimi tutti e complimenti per la professionalità. Un locale al di fuori dei soliti richiami e piatti per turisti, in poche parole GRANDE QUALITA'.

30/06/2024: Ambiente elegante, personale gentilissimo e professionale, buona la cucina, piatti presentati molto bene, sì sentono i sapori e il prodotto usato sembra di ottima qualità. Forse , per mio gusto un po’ troppo carichi …il pecorino sovrasta un po’ nel l’insieme… Ok la la carta dei vini ed i prezzi adeguati a ciò che viene offerto. Peccato non si disponga di tavoli all’ aperto

19/08/2024: Highly recommended! Excellent food, we ordered starters, starters, main courses, side dishes and desserts, all exceptional, compliments to the chef! Typical place, very nice place, fast and professional service, very reasonable prices, the children licked their chops! If I end up in those parts again I will definitely return!

18/08/2024: Very tasty, great service! Actually great atmosphere, but a bit cold in the back area... But the pizzas are great and huge. The meat at least looked good, but we didn't have it. Definitely recommended!

10/01/2024: Senza voler esagerare, questo è il miglior agriturismo in cui ho mai mangiato fino ad ora!!! Non so come riescano a prendere delle interiora e dei fagioli e fare un piatto con un sapore pazzesco...i pici al ragù di chianina e tartufo poi, indescrivibili!! cibo a parte: posto bellissimo, il cameriere gentilissimo e in generale un ambiente rustico molto piacevole. Se abitassi in zona andrei in questo agriturismo tutte le settimane!!

27/08/2024: Today we were in this small, fine, rustic restaurant for the second time. The food was excellent and the service was very friendly and accommodating. Max our dog also got some water straight away. Highly recommended! We will come back when we are in Siena again.

27/08/2024: I recently dined at Il Pino, a place that left quite an impression—though not for the reasons one might hope. The food itself was satisfactory, but the atmosphere was overshadowed by the bizarre behavior of the owner, who seemed more interested in performing antics than running a restaurant. As we were seated and began our meal, we couldn't help but notice the owner hanging from the balcony by one arm, a sight that was both alarming and distracting. He remained there throughout our entire dining experience, grunting and snuffling in a way that was impossible to ignore. His constant, unsettling presence made it difficult to enjoy the food or the company. While the service was adequate, and the dishes were reasonably well-prepared, the overall experience was marred by the owner's antics. Dining out should be about enjoying good food and a pleasant atmosphere, but at Il Pino, the wild behavior of the owner took center stage in the worst possible way. If you’re looking for a quiet, enjoyable meal, this might not be the place for you. But if you’re in the mood for something truly out of the ordinary—though not necessarily in a good way—you might find Il Pino worth a visit. Personally, I found the experience off-putting and unlikely to return.
