30/12/2025: This osteria has been featured in specialized guides for years, so we went on faith. We really appreciated the simple menu, which ranges from meat to seafood, with a few well-thought-out and executed dishes. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the attention to preparation. The service is also excellent, with polite and courteous staff who are never intrusive. Like a true osteria, and unlike many tourist restaurants, they don't have two sittings but take reservations while the kitchen is open, making space for those who arrive whenever possible. I'm not giving it five stars solely for reasons related to my personal taste: the menu does feature traditional Tuscan dishes, but also other options. Personally, when I'm in this area, I prefer eating traditional, home-cooked local food. I recommend it if you're looking for an authentic, quality osteria with a varied menu that's not limited to Tuscan cuisine.

12/10/2025: Welcoming and well-organized location. On a sunny day like the one we just had, it's a worthwhile place, nestled in a totally relaxing square. The service was helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The food was excellent! We each ordered various dishes, which we then sampled... Really good!!! Portions were decent. The price tends to be high for the simplicity of the dish itself... But it's still worth it. The Florentine steak was wonderful!!! You can't miss it. I recommend it! Excellent place

19/01/2026: Grotta Santa Caterina da Bagoga is a charming local restaurant with excellent, attentive yet relaxed service. After trying to get in without a reservation, which I couldn't manage, I finally booked and enjoyed a very good local meal. The simplicity, decor, and understated elegance are truly appreciated. Highly recommended.

04/01/2026: Coeliac here -- a lot of the menu is gluten free here, but there's still a risk of cross contamination so keep that in mind. They brought some gluten free bread at the start -- it was warm, though was not freshly made. Crispy on the outside but dry inside. Recommend dousing with oil and salt. I had the sirloin steak with butter and thyme. It's a large amount of meat, with nothing else on the plate. I enjoyed the first 70% of it. I had some potatoes on the side which were nice, although I do feel they should have come with the steak. For dessert, I had the cheesecake with strawberry jam. This was light cream in a glass with some kind of fine nut crumble in the bottom and jam on top. Not a cheesecake in my book, but still nice. I also sampled the tiramisu, which was very light and creamy. We were late to lunch and this was the only place with gluten free options that I found open past 14.00. The pasta looked good and I do believe they can make them with gluten free pasta for a surcharge.

23/12/2025: There were two of us and we had a stew and a first course with wild boar ragù that were truly perfect, delicious, excellent service despite the place being full, customer attention and delightful owners, I recommend it to all those who decide to visit Chianti and its wonders

01/01/2026: I had dinner with two friends and we couldn't be more satisfied. The waiters were very professional and friendly, and the food was spectacular. I've eaten at various places around Tuscany, and this is undoubtedly one of the best. I also recommend it to anyone who, like me, is celiac: they make fresh pasta (gluten-free), and they can adapt practically every dish—hard to find that in a restaurant. The price was fair, and the atmosphere was lovely. If you're in Siena, you have to try it.

02/02/2026: The new management, taken over by two young people, deserves to become the go-to place in Siena. They cook with respect for both tradition and the ingredients, always incredibly fresh, which they prepare with love. The dishes are few, but more than enough for a very satisfying selection. Both the two of them and the girls serving are kind and attentive. Everything is clean... including the bathrooms. A little gem: the basement tavern for large groups. Thanks guys. 31/01/2026: I was there recently. The restaurant recently changed management, but the menu features the same traditional local dishes. The owner and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, making this a truly authentic Sienese restaurant. The quality/price ratio is admirable; try it and believe it!

06/02/2026: I have no idea how it got so many good reviews – by far the worst meal I had in two weeks in Italy. The gnocchi with scallops were slimy, oily, and almost inedible; the appetizer platter with fried vegetables was unappetizing; and the fries were bad. Save your money!
