20/01/2026: One of the very few trattorias where you'll still find mostly Florentines, and you'll notice it if you go on a Sunday for a typical family lunch. It's a cute, simple, and welcoming place. The food is really good, with generous portions, reasonable prices, and truly superb service! Highly recommended!

01/02/2026: A pretty good restaurant with local Tuscan dishes, recommended by our guidebook, and we weren't disappointed. The prices are slightly higher than you might find elsewhere, but it's true that we're in the center of town, so that justifies the cost. They have some very famous dishes like spaghetti with wild boar, gnocchi, and the famous soup with bread in it.

29/01/2026: This trattoria is close to the visitor attractions and was recommended by our walking tour guide. Service is warm and efficient. Food has a home-cooked, personal feel to it. I came here twice during my stay in Florence! Note, it isn’t open on Mondays (or at least it wasn’t on Monday 26th January).

06/01/2026: We read the reviews about Zio Gigi and it was indeed an interesting dining experience. Owner had amazing opera singing voice and entertained the diners every now and then. Cosy interior with guitars hung on walls. To the main point, food was nice too! The seafood broth was delicious with the bread. Our mains were Florentine steak, salmon which was flaky and soft, and a tasty grilled chicken with cheese and rocket. Followed by an apple pie to finish off.

04/02/2026: Wonderful food, with both classic and more unusual options, all the while remaining traditional: a menu that seems to have been written and conceived by your grandmother. Generous portions without being overbearing, simple dishes that get straight to the point, you eat without beating around the bush. Good food, lots of it: pici cooked to perfection, tasty crostini without being greasy as is often the case. I would have ordered more, but at a certain point my stomach gave up. Wonderful atmosphere, extremely kind and friendly staff, cheerful without being intrusive or out of place. The amaro offered is highly appreciated, the price is fair, perfect: a giant appetizer, a first course, water, wine (half a liter), and amaro: €35. Bonus: a 10-star playlist (written by a millennial).

03/02/2026: The appetizers were truly spot-on and full of character. The fried polenta with ragù and mushrooms was a perfect start: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with a flavorful and well-balanced sauce, the kind that tastes like proper cooking. The lard crostini with sausage were also excellent, rich but not heavy, with bold and well-balanced flavors. Among the desserts, the tiramisu deserves a special mention: creamy, well-balanced, without excessive sugar, truly delicious, and a perfect end to the meal. The tagliata lived up to expectations, tender and perfectly cooked, both with artichokes, which add a fresher and slightly bitter note, and with potatoes, more classic but always a winner. Overall, a very satisfying experience, with carefully prepared dishes and authentic flavors, the kind that make you want to return. The staff was crazy and incredibly friendly!

04/01/2026: This is the best restaurant where you can enjoy Tuscan cuisine. The lasagna was particularly delicious, but I was impressed by every other dish. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was good. I would definitely visit again if I come to Florence again.

10/01/2026: The restaurant is located on a hidden street off Via del Corso. This is a true Italian trattoria, family-owned and operated. We showed up a little late and it was busy—thank goodness we made reservations. We had some challenges ordering at first because the server didn't speak English. We think she was the owner's daughter because she called him "papa"! She had somewhat of an attitude initially, a bit grouchy, but things improved as the dinner progressed. The location is rustic and quite small with just a few tables, so it tends to be noisy, with lots of aromas and visuals of different dishes that can make it hard to decide what to order. We ordered an appetizer of crostini with burrata tartare (€16) which was decent, the bistecca alla Fiorentina for two, medium rare (€60), which was delicious—tender and juicy meat—insalata mista (€8) with fresh tomatoes and delicate dressing, insalata di patate (€8) which was not bad, and an amazing tiramisu (€8) plus coffee (€4). For drinks, we had beer (€4) and a carafe of red Rosso Bolgh, 1 liter (€18). The total bill was €130. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, so it was perfect for us.
