Cafaggi In Firenze

I stumbled upon this restaurant during a family trip and was surprised when I ordered "Un Primo Piatto a Scelta" with Gnocchi, a dish that I highly recommend, seriously, I think it was the best gnocchi I've ever eaten in my entire life! The portion is enough to feed two or even three people, depending on their appetite; the waitress, despite not speaking a word of English and me being the same with Italian, was super attentive and dedicated herself to serving us and making us comfortable. The restaurant has a moderate but comfortable space to accommodate several people, in addition to having a very cozy, grandma's house vibe.

Place for locals by locals, good food. Sure a place to return a new trip to Florence.

Visiting Florence from San Francisco and tasked with hosting a VIP business dinner, I asked local colleagues where to eat and they recommended Ristorante Cafaggi in central city Florence. I'm so thrilled they did! Our party of 14 had the most wonderful experience in the expert hands of Signore Cafaggi. Every dish chosen from the extensive menu was perfectly prepared, from flaky puff pastry shaped like fish stuffed with anchovies to shrimp risotto, fresh pasta with zucchini blossoms, swordfish and cod fish, succulent T-bone steak, tricolor salad with tasty tomatoes and fennel, and scrumptious fruit desserts. Signore Cafaggi and his esteemed brother brought us regional surprises for the table like buttery prosciutto and fried artichokes and zucchini. We lingered for hours over the delicious food paired with great wines and Prosecco. The classic Italian restaurant atmosphere with tablecloths and cloth napkins and perfect, unhurried service helped new professional relationships turn into warm family feelings, an invaluable asset. Incredibly, we stayed under the requested budget limit even with so many dishes. From seating our large party immediately as planned to calling us taxis at the end of the dinner, we all had an exquisite experience that will remain the high point of our visit. Giving my highest recommendation possible for those seeking an authentic Tuscan meal with fantastic value and generous hospitality by a consummate restaurateur.
