07/06/2026: Our problem was the cockroaches. The staff were very attentive. When we saw the cockroach for the first time, we asked to change tables because it happens outside, in the garden. The second time, as soon as we ordered our dishes, we saw others and I told the waitress, who called Mr. Cristian who killed it. Then we asked to close the bill because we were leaving. The attendant told Cristian and he said "you can go, it's normal to have cockroaches if there's a garden". I believe it's not normal inside the establishment. At least not the ones I frequent. Terrible customer service.

30/05/2026: One of the best! If not the best steakhouse in Florence! The food is excellent, from appetizers to dessert, everything is delicious! The staff is incredibly kind and knowledgeable! I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Florence who wants to eat a real Florentine steak! We'll definitely be back!

The food is truly excellent, with quality ingredients and a cuisine that demonstrates technique and personality. However, the experience was partially marred by one important aspect: there is no real wine list. You can only drink from the labels selected by the staff, with no independent selection. This is a significant limitation, especially for those who enjoy creating their own food and wine experience or wish to explore a broader selection. A format that has potential, but one that deserves an overhaul, at least from this perspective.

The experience was excellent: excellent food, a wide selection of wines, extremely courteous service, and a clean and welcoming atmosphere. Generous portions and tasty dishes: perfectly cooked Florentine steak, absolutely worth trying the nettle gnocchi, truly excellent porchetta rabbit and sirloin steak, and the torta della nonna (grandmother's cake) was a wonderful finish. A special compliment to the staff, who courteously and kindly assisted us in choosing the best dishes for our tastes. The price was fair for everything we ate and the quality of the ingredients. Highly recommended!

03/05/2026: A small trattoria not far from the Santa Maria Novella train station. Excellent menu options: top-notch all-inclusive (cover charge, water, and wine), good quality. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended!

15/06/2026: Staff were nice but food was very average, we tried 5 dishes and none of us finished our meals- and we all love food! Repetitive AI generated country music was quite irritating and disappointing considering they sometimes have live music (not expecting live music every day, but you would think that if they have a love of music, they would put on real musicians!). The walnut ravioli was claggy and bland (like getting punched in the face by a walnut, and no nother flavour) and the mushroom risotto was quite bland and stodgy. The food was extremely quick which also made me think it’s not fresh. After a week in Tuscany, this was probably our least favourite meal overall. EDIT: I actually wrote this before I realised they also tried to charge us extra for a side that already came with one of the secondis!

05/05/2026: Delicious food and superb service. We arrived without a reservation and they accommodated us anyway. The hostess was very attentive, and the waiter guided us and answered all our questions about the dishes. It's a cozy place that allows you to have an intimate meal with whomever you're with.

04/05/2026: Located at the foot of the Ponte Vecchio, founded in 1945, "Orafo" derives its name from the goldsmiths (orafí) who once lined this street. Descending into the stone-built basement, the touristy city of Florence seems to fade into the distance. The star of the evening was Trippa alla Fiorentina. A pinnacle of Florentine folk cuisine, made with tripe simmered for a long time in tomatoes and herbs, it had absolutely no unpleasant odor, and the collagen-rich sauce, alongside the pappardelle ragu, made for a truly superb dish. Here, you'll find a "violence of ingredients" that showcases the incredible power of offal. Grazie 🍝✨

02/04/2026: I very rarely give 5 stars. Only to places where, as you walk out, you’re already thinking about when to come back. And honestly, I almost never give 2 stars either — I simply don’t visit such places. But Carmagnini del ’500 is the kind of place worth getting on a plane for and flying to Tuscany. Royal lilies on the walls, plates with a family crest. But this is not arrogance. This is self-respect. Quiet, confident, unquestioned. I’ve never had venison prosciutto like this — deep, elegant, no drama. The duck — fantastic, the kind that makes conversation unnecessary. The tiramisu — exactly as it should be. No experiments, no “modern art.” And then comes the moment when you think: “Alright, I’ve seen it all.” And they bring you the pasta with cheese… And you realize — you haven’t seen anything yet. By the way, first time in my life I was charged a €4 coperto per person. And what? I didn’t even feel offended. When the system works — even the fee becomes part of the experience. In short: this is not a restaurant. this is a place that sets the rules — and you’re perfectly happy to follow them.
