18/05/2026: We decided to have lunch at this restaurant solely because of its strategic location in the center of Rome. We were aware of the negative reviews online, but driven by tiredness, we wanted to try it in person. Our experience turned out to be that of a classic tourist spot: not a total disaster, but certainly far from the standards of true Roman cuisine. The outdoor seating is nice but very chaotic, with tables too close together, leaving little privacy. The service was the weak point: the staff seemed visibly stressed, hasty, and aloof. The wait times were also a bit long, especially between the appetizer and the first courses. As for the food, the supplì we ordered as an appetizer were crispy on the outside but a bit warm on the inside. The Carbonara was passable, although the egg sauce was too thick and not very creamy, while the Cacio e Pepe arrived decidedly too salty. We finished with a decent tiramisu, although the ladyfingers were excessively soaked in coffee. The final bill was quite steep, largely due to the additional cover charge and service charge, which we found disproportionate to the attention we received. In short, it's an acceptable option only as a last resort if you're in the area and in a hurry, but in Rome you can definitely eat better elsewhere.

10/08/2026: A terrible and inexcusable experience. The tone of the meal was clear as soon as we sat down: we were immediately informed that they charge different prices depending on whether you pay in cash or by card. This is a highly unfair (and illegal) practice that should have prompted us to get up and leave immediately. We made the mistake of staying, despite the restaurant being completely quiet, with only two tables occupied in the entire restaurant. The service was still confusing, inattentive, and visibly stumped, but the real downfall came with the food. The house appetizer was nothing short of squalid. They served us a dish that had clearly been ready for hours and was left there to crumple: two slices of salami cut in half to make them look like four (luckily, we don't eat meat, but the presentation was embarrassing), three slices of mortadella, and four slices of cheap supermarket cheese for sandwiches, also cut in half. To complete the picture, cold zucchini with parmesan and two bruschettas were the only thing that could have been salvaged. The even more disappointing aspect was the food on the first courses. I ordered a Carbonara, which turned out to be appalling. It looked like a washed-out Cacio e Pepe; when tasted, it tasted like nothing, and the texture strongly suggested the use of cream (hoping I was wrong). I left the plate practically uneaten. The worst part? When clearing the table, the waiter didn't even bother to ask why the food was untouched. I understand that it's not the waiter's fault if the food isn't good, but it's his duty to ask and have the kitchen report what's happening in the dining room. I had to ask for a takeaway container just so I couldn't throw away the food and could give it to someone in need. Indifferent service, depressing appetizer, unwatchable Carbonara. An experience never to be repeated. Highly not recommended.

02/08/2026: A terrible experience. The food was questionable and certainly not Roman (the only redeeming feature was the tripe). Ordering a plate of gricia only to be served rigatoni in broth made from the pasta's cooking water or grilled sausages that I wouldn't call sausages wasn't a pleasant experience.

08/03/2026: We had lunch on Sunday. The place was excellent and the owner was very friendly. Visit and try the Roman cuisine.

04/03/2026: It's no longer part of the El Bortolo chain; it's an independent osteria! Avoid it, in my opinion! It also has an unpleasant smell for my taste! The pasta arrived too hot, almost raw. Of course, these are just my opinions!

18/07/2026: It is definitely a place not to visit. We came here to have dessert and drink coffee, but they said they wouldn't pick us up at the restaurant if we didn't eat. The waiters were disrespectful, try other restaurants (friendly advice).

08/05/2026: Prime example of a tourist trap, this restaurant is just a shell of its former self. The location is the only thing they got going for them now. Food and service are bare minimum and nothing more. I've had better Tiramisu in supermarket plastic boxes. Pushy waiters and not a single local person in sight. Skip this one and enjoy the rest of this beautiful city.

17/07/2026: Anyone walking past would want to sit down. The shop is cute and the atmosphere is nice. But, run away!!! The prices are expensive and the staff is terrible. I ordered carbonara and the taste was very average. The staff asked what I wanted to drink, water and Sprite. I said Sprite, but she served both and charged for both! A single plate of spaghetti is 14, but the bill came out to 23. When I went to pay, the staff asked for a tip 4-5 times. I said, "I don't tip." She got annoyed, finished scanning the card, and walked away. The service was below 1 star, even that's too much for this place.

16/07/2026: Totally agree with all the reviews with 1 star, ordered there starter which should’ve been coming with burrata and bruschetta but apparently bread was not fresh, felt like it is couple of days old and cheese wasn’t fresh either with a bit sour taste and with no cream inside which is not what burrata is (shouldn’t Italians tell me how it should look like and not vice versa?), it’s really terrible how they’ve made basic Italian food that is available everywhere so bad, price tag is also very high, starter price was 25 euros!!! Won’t recommend it to anyone.

09/08/2026: Industrial vegetables, tasteless dishes, and worst of all, the restaurant charges you 10 euros for drinks, in addition to the cover charge...avoid at all costs, tourist trap.

09/08/2026: We ended up here completely by chance while we were looking for a place to eat near the Colosseum. Our experience was amazing. The food tasted great, and we even got a welcome drink on the house. They were about to close, but they still let us finish our meal and took care of us the whole time. It was such an amazing evening that we came back the next day, and it was just as great as the day before. I absolutely don’t understand the reviews they have here, because for us it was a great dinner, great service, and the price was lower than if we’d gone out for a similar meal back home. I can definitely recommend it, especially thanks to the waiter who took care of us all evening, chatted with us, and made our experience even better.

09/07/2026: Avoid this place. From the moment we arrived, something felt off. We booked a restaurant under one name, yet when we got there it was operating under a completely different name. The placemats, signage, and branding all reflected a different restaurant, which felt incredibly deceptive. Unfortunately, the food was even worse. It was genuinely inedible and easily the worst meal I’ve had in Rome. For a place advertising itself as an authentic Roman trattoria, there was nothing authentic about the food or the overall experience. Rome has countless incredible restaurants serving genuine Roman cuisine. Don’t waste your time or money here—there are far better places to eat.

09/07/2026: Avoid this place! As soon as we arrived, it was obvious that something was off. We had booked a restaurant under one name, but when we got there it was trading under a completely different one. Even the placemats, signs, and interior branding all belonged to another restaurant, which made the whole thing feel deceptive and badly run. The meal was just as bad. I could not eat mine, and it was easily the worst food I have had in Rome. It was dull, unappetising, and nothing like the Roman cooking the restaurant claims to serve. I felt so dissapinted after eating here and I don't want others to feel the same way. Please do not eat here.
