Al Cardello In Roma

We ended up here completely by chance while we were looking for a place to eat near the Colosseum. Our experience was amazing. The food tasted great, and we even got a welcome drink on the house. They were about to close, but they still let us finish our meal and took care of us the whole time. It was such an amazing evening that we came back the next day, and it was just as great as the day before. I absolutely don’t understand the reviews they have here, because for us it was a great dinner, great service, and the price was lower than if we’d gone out for a similar meal back home. I can definitely recommend it, especially thanks to the waiter who took care of us all evening, chatted with us, and made our experience even better.

What a wonderful place! I felt like I was visiting my Italian grandmother for dinner, even though I never had one. Delicious food, a truly homey atmosphere, and such a warm welcome that you immediately felt like part of the family. The Roman lasagna was superb. I'll remember this lunch for a long time!

We were on our way to the Colosseum when we started getting hungry around dinnertime. We preferred not to eat on one of the busy main streets, but rather in a somewhat quieter side street behind it. After a short walk, we ended up at Al Cardello. Actually, we didn't feel like looking any further, so we decided to eat here. It was remarkably quiet. We only read the reviews after we had ordered, and to be honest, they weren't exactly positive. So we just hoped for the best. When the food was served, we were pleasantly surprised. It was simply delicious! The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Afterwards, we asked for the bill, and it matched exactly what we had ordered and the prices on the menu. No unexpected costs or other unpleasant surprises. Our experience was therefore much better than the earlier reviews suggested. So don't let the negative reviews put you off. We had a delicious meal here and received friendly service.

Super friendly service, great food that came out super fresh and good drinks.

Incredible experience. We went two nights in a row. The owner is incredibly friendly once you get to know him. Even though we speak French, he took the time to get to know us and understand us. He offered us a few bottles from his personal collection. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Go inside for a more authentic experience.

Service was phenomenal! The owner, Viviana, spent time with us and all other customers to made sure we had an unforgettable experience. The tomato and cheese plate was super fresh. The bread was out of this world and the beer supper cold! Highly recommend it if you are around the coliseum in Rome. The establishment is been around for over 100 years and the reviews are not fair to the good food and exceptional service of this restaurant. We had a few birds come over to sing and beg for food, exceptional Italian Experience!

Laid back service and friendly staff. Waiter was super chilled and served us well, food was hearty and tasty. If you are looking for fine dining don’t go, if you are looking for genuine Rome street restaurant experience then can’t complain.
