The experience I had at this restaurant on the evening of December 31st was, in every respect, seriously disappointing and unworthy of a restaurant business, especially on a symbolic date like New Year's Eve.
I and sixteen others were forced to leave the restaurant at 10:00 PM, a circumstance completely incompatible with an evening that, by its very nature, should be well-organized, welcoming, and respectful of guests. This imposition caused obvious inconvenience, irreparably compromising the evening.
From a gastronomic standpoint, the situation was no better: some dishes emitted unpleasant and unreassuring odors, while the fish-filled ravioli were of undeclared origin and of questionable quality, leaving more than one diner perplexed and concerned. Added to this is the somewhat unusual management of the service, to the point that patrons found themselves heating their own toast on the grill, in a setting that would be an understatement to call improvised.
Overall, this was an experience that caused real and significant harm to guests, especially considering the time of year and the legitimate expectations associated with it. Such a level of disorganization and neglect should have no place in a restaurant open to the public.
In light of what happened, I cannot recommend this restaurant, hoping that management will seriously reconsider its minimum standards of quality, safety, and customer respect.
03/01/2026: A nightmare New Year's Eve. There's no rating for this shit.
I never thought I'd experience an evening like this. Seventeen of us chose this place for our New Year's Eve dinner, paying for an expensive menu that turned out to be a total disaster and a display of disrespect towards the customer.
It all started with the appetizers: completely different from what was promised. The excuse? A phantom "gluten-free menu" that none of us ever requested. They served us stale, toasted, and roughly torn bread. The situation worsened with the first courses: we were forced to stop because the food was simply inedible for a human being. We had to spit out the first bite of the mussel dish, which tasted so terrible it was repulsive.
The most shocking thing, however, was the staff's reaction. When we tried to have a civilized discussion to see if it was normal to present dishes in that condition, the waiters began to insult us harshly. They called us "rude," yelling that "we should have stayed home instead of going there to bother them." They continued to swear at us with incredible rudeness the entire time.
Faced with the unsavory food and the verbal abuse of the staff, we decided to leave. We refused to pay the bill, in full agreement with the owner, who, acknowledging the poor service and the unbearable situation, granted our request. We didn't dine and found our New Year's Eve party ruined. This place is definitely worth avoiding.

I'm not giving it 5 stars because two main courses at €50 are expensive.
08/11/2025: The first thing I noticed as soon as I entered after a few years of not coming is the renovation of the place, which, in my opinion, has made the osteria lose its character. Now it feels half elegant restaurant, half osteria: for example, some of the chairs are modern, others are classic straw chairs.
I'm also struck by the fact that, on a Saturday night, there are only three of us, whereas in the past the place was full.
While waiting for the other diners, we went to the bathroom and found both the women's and men's bathrooms dirty: they definitely hadn't been cleaned before the evening, given that there were five people at the tables before us.
The dishes served promptly were good, and the first courses were plentiful.
The prices are a bit high for an osteria: appetizers €11-12, first courses €13-14, desserts €7, a bottle of house wine €14.
Parking is a bit of a problem... only along the street (Via di Pietralata) with some spaces that aren't exactly regular.

Infatti ci sono alcune foto all'interno del locale.
Ho mangiato una amatriciana eccellente.
Personale gentilissimo.

The service was impeccable: attentive, quick, and always available without being intrusive. We truly felt like royalty; every detail was taken care of to ensure a pleasant experience.
The dishes were delicious, beautifully presented, and prepared with high-quality ingredients. And all at very reasonable prices, which made the experience even better.
A welcoming, professional, and generous restaurant—the kind we wish we saw more often. I highly recommend it!

19/08/2025: There's nothing to complain about the food, given the quality and the enormous amount of work behind the scenes that justifies the expense. A sore point, since I won't be returning, is the fact that after requesting an invoice twice on different evenings, it never arrived. The worst thing is that I pointed out the failure of the first invoice on the second evening, and after being reassured that they would arrange for both invoices to be sent... after over a year, nothing has arrived in my tax drawer. It's a shame, truly a shame, that all this hard work has been wasted in such a petty way, even after payments were made using a traceable method.

12/09/2025: The place is cute, well-decorated, and the staff is always smiling and friendly.
It's definitely better for an aperitif or after-dinner drink.
The food quality, however, is unsatisfactory. The cured meats and cheeses are of average-to-low quality, and the fried foods are very greasy and heavy.
We'll try it again for an after-dinner drink.

26/08/2025: This restaurant has been closed for a long time. Despite this, they regularly take reservations for this restaurant. Then, an hour before your scheduled lunch/dinner, you're told to go to another restaurant (Officina del Gusto), which isn't at Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini 11 but at Via Trento 7, and which is completely different from the photos and location shown in this description. I find this behavior truly unfair and deceptive towards customers, and I don't understand how booking sites still accept it.

13/06/2025: There was 4 of us looking for a nice restaurant for our last night in Rome. I found this one - excellent rating. When we eventually found it, we had to queue for about 10 minutes, then seated down the side of the restaurant (first reaction was that it seemed out of the way).
We all ordered our meals and drinks, my husband got his first (a pizza), then about a minute or two later, spaghetti bolognese arrived for one of our friends. About 2 minutes more, my mushroom ravoli appeared. We were still waiting for one meal (beef steak strips) - that appeared 12 minutes after the first dish had arrived at the table. The steak was requested to be medium, and it appeared to be rare to medium rare - accompaniments of potatoes and rice were cold.
My husband complained a couple of times and the wait staff seemed afraid of confront. But after asking for the bill, we noticed that the steak and a dessert had been comped. Definitely won't be going back, if we go back to Rome.
13/06/2025: Who’s writing these reviews?! Did we go to the same place? This is essentially Olive Garden in Italy. Have you Alfredo pasta and baked potatoes surrounded by zero Italians. The service is bad. The food is very bad. The drinks are tasty but this isn’t a bar. There’s so many other places to eat in Rome, let this be the review you believe

07/03/2026: My family and I were lucky to be in Rome on Christmas Day in 2024. However, we found ourselves without a place to have dinner and were looking in the Vatican area for a place to rest, sit-down, and have a traditional Italian meal. Fortunately, we came across Ristorante Venerina and had one of the best Christmas dinners ever.
As luck would have it, we were back in Rome for Christmas 2025 but this time I made reservations at Ristorante Venerina (used email on website for restaurant and had ChatGPT help me with translating the request). Again, one of the best Christmas dinners that we have enjoyed! The atmosphere is that of a cozy and friendly family restaurant. The food is incredible, and after being in Rome two times and eating at any number of eateries, the food at Ristorante Venerina has toped them all!
I personally thanked the owner, Venerina Maresca, for the amazing meal and for feeling at home in her restaurant - two years in a row. She hugged me and thanked me for eating at her restaurant. Venerina told me that Pope Benedict used to come to her restaurant for her apple pie and other dishes (the attached article can be translated via Gemini or ChatGPT to provide additional info on VIPs who have eaten at her restaurant).
I do hope to return to Rome and the Vatican again soon. And when I do, I will certainly return to Ristorante Venerina for another incredible meal. Maybe even her famous apple pie!

07/07/2025: Vine a Italia de vacaciones. Vine a este restaurante para tener una agradable cena junto con mi familia. Pedí una pizza Margherita y para mi sorpresa su presentación fue un desastre. Tenía muy poca cantidad de mozzarella y algunos quesos normales. Su base no estaba bien cocinada como otros restaurantes Italiano .
Otro miembro de la familia tomó lasaña. La porción era más pequeña de lo normal y no contenía muchos ingredientes.
¡Qué experiencia tan desastrosa! Cuando fui a pagar y mi tarjeta fue rechazada, los camareros se miraron entre sí y se quejaron (fue solo un error de PIN)
¡Éste no es un auténtico restaurante romano! Esto es una falsificación.
03/07/2025: Lindo y pequeño lugar al lado de Piazza Del Popolo. Precio medio y menú extenso. El minestrone era generoso y fresco. La pizza tiene una auténtica corteza fina y crujiente. El personal fue muy amable e hizo todo lo posible para que nos sintiéramos bienvenidos y cómodos.

07/03/2026: On March 2nd we had booked at the Conca d'Oro location but then we were diverted to Tiburtina, the evening had not started well... but then we were welcomed there by Mr. Antonio who with great enthusiasm helped us in choosing the dishes and we had a wonderful evening.
01/03/2026: We arrived today at 1:30 PM, with a reservation made several days in advance. At 1:45 PM, we were served our appetizers (a supplì, a potato croquette, a piece of polenta each, and chickpeas and beans), but unfortunately, from then on, the wait became excessive.
At 3:00 PM, an hour and a half after our arrival, the appetizers still hadn't arrived. We called the waiters several times, who were always very kind, but despite their attempts to help us, the dishes still didn't arrive. The appetizers weren't served until 3:20 PM, and the main courses at 3:40 PM.
We therefore waited almost two hours for lunch, so much so that we'd lost our appetite.
I'm particularly disappointed because I came with my family, who were from out of the region, and the restaurant unfortunately greatly disappointed our expectations.
We won't be returning.
