09/11/2025: I'm not in the habit of writing negative reviews, but since I'm used to being honest, I can't help but do so. We happened upon this place by chance, near the vintage show, enticed by the positive reviews we'd read. We didn't have a table reservation. The orders took forever to arrive at our table of four, all in random order, forcing us to eat one at a time. A forgotten appetizer even arrived with one of the first courses. The wait staff was very committed, but spoke and understood little Italian. A 75 cc bottle of still water cost €2, and the coffee arrived, just as we were paying the bill, for €2 in a small plastic cup. I'm trying to be understanding, thinking that it was all due to the staff being capable but insufficient for the number of seats in the crowded indoor and outdoor dining room. Other customers had similar complaints. With a few adjustments, it could improve.

09/11/2025: We had lunch at Burro e Sugo, enjoying a 30% discount through The Fork. Food Overall, the dishes were average, with no particular strengths or weaknesses, but with some contrasting surprises. I ordered cacio e pepe, which initially arrived without pecorino, with just parmesan and pepper, without the classic creamy sauce that characterizes the Roman dish, but with obvious oil and cooking water. After pointing this out quite clearly, I was brought a second course, this time correct and well-prepared, with the authentic flavor of the pecorino. However, the question remains as to why the first and second courses were different—a mistake, a lack of care, or perhaps different treatment depending on the customer. My mother ordered beef stew (presented as a roulade), which unfortunately she didn't like: the flavor was reminiscent of a packaged product, like canned meat. Another person chose the green pepper fillet, which initially arrived completely raw inside (not rare, but raw). After having it recooked, it came back to the table well-cooked and finally tasty, even though the wait was long. Service and Organization Unfortunately, the most disappointing aspect of the experience was the service. We waited almost an hour for our order to be taken, and overall the meal lasted over two and a half hours. The dining room management seemed disorganized and slow. In particular, the waitress who served us was rather aloof and dismissive, and her manner wasn't particularly friendly. Bill and The Fork Discount Even when it came to the bill, we noticed some inconsistencies. The first receipt showed a higher amount than expected, and only after a lengthy review and several recalculations (correctly considering the 30% discount on food, not drinks) did we arrive at a more consistent figure. We later noticed a charge error—two portions of artichokes instead of one—for which we were partially refunded (€4.50 out of €7). Conclusion In summary, Burro e Sugo offers average cuisine, but the experience was marred by very slow service, chaotic organization, and unclear billing. Although some dishes were ultimately acceptable, overall we would not return.

26/10/2025: The hotel has a perfect location. We didn't take any transport during our entire vacation. The room was well-equipped and clean. Upon arrival, we were a bit frightened because everything was older than in the photos. You have to go through a doorway and go up to the first floor, and when you enter, there's a somewhat shabby reception area. However, afterward, everything was perfect. Being in the heart of Rome, the rooms are quite soundproofed thanks to their double-glazed windows.

20/08/2025: Horrible service. The staff weren't interested of serving us. When we ordered Dolce menu we only received the pizza. After 90 minutes of waiting we finally succeeded in gaining their attention. They brought us the check and tried to make us pay for the tiramisu we never received. Don't go there.

21/11/2025: We were recommended to go to this restaurant because it was said to have one of the best Carbonaras in Rome, and it truly is! The price isn't high. We also ordered the house dessert, prosciutto, and two glasses of wine. We were also very well received by the waiter Mauro, who spoke Portuguese and served us very well.

14/11/2025: The classic Roman pasta here - carbonara and cacio e pepe - are really good. Perfectly seasoned, al dante, and the carbonana especially is strictly egg and cheese and none of the heavy cream nonsense like in the US. The ossobuco was good, but the tomato sauce does taste like it's made by a grandma but not in the best way (I suspect that's the reason why one review said it was a "canned sauce"). Well, it's a Lombardy dish. Stick with the Roman dishes and you'll be fine! The part of the restaurant I sat in had a weird smell, but not the rest of the restaurant. The host was just fine and there was a good mix of locals and tourists. I'd recommend this restaurant if you're in the area, but no need to go out of your way for it.

07/09/2025: Terrible service. They kicked us out and no one came out to see if we needed anything. We had to go in several times to call the waiter and order. When the appetizer with cured meats arrived, we asked for bread several times, but unfortunately it arrived when we were already at the main course. The waitress, after we came in to ask if someone would come to the table, gave us a rude answer. They ruined our lunch with the terrible service. I'm still waiting for someone to serve us at the table... Disgusting!

27/07/2025: The house antipasto was excellent and plentiful, the pizza was very good, a generous size, thin and crispy, and excellent in flavor. The pappardelle with wild boar ragù was VERY good, and the service was courteous and prompt. In the summer heat, the sparkling wine on tap was definitely a welcome treat. See you soon!!!

09/06/2025: As for the experience at this place, it's definitely not one to repeat. We're only talking about the pizza we ate at this restaurant; obviously, I can't comment on anything else. The product is small, giving the immediate impression of being little more than a cheap focaccia, but for the same price as a full-sized pizza. The crust is too crusty, making it seem far removed from what one would expect from a traditional pizza. The staff is friendly.

02/12/2025: It's great that it's in Trastevere; the area gets quite crowded at night. After dinner, you can see young people in Rome enjoying street entertainment and hanging out at cocktail bars. The fried artichokes were delicious, and the meat was delicious. The place is usually crowded with people. The waiters are polite.

11/08/2025: We went to this restaurant based off of the recommendations from online reviews and Anthony Bourdains travel series. THIS IS NOT the restaurant that people are recommending. While appearances on the outside are the same, the sign above the door still reads Trattoria Settimio and the website and phone number still read Trattoria Settimio, once we were sat down we realized the menu and place mats had a different restaurants name. Not till after did we see a lone review that noted that the restaurant was sold and has changed hands. Food and service was decent but it seems that they are using the likeness and reputation of the Anthony Bourdain recommendation to garner customers.

16/11/2025: There was a strong smell of smoke; they should probably install a proper exhaust hood. But that wasn't a big problem. However, ordering and paying for three mixed grills and receiving a dish that looked like a barely generous mixed grill was a big problem. In short, it wasn't generous, and that made the difference.

09/11/2025: I had been to the restaurant once in September and had a decent experience, although I was charged for a bottle of wine I hadn't consumed; I hadn't noticed this because I hadn't been given a receipt. I returned last Sunday. After booking, I found myself in a state of chaos; consequently, the food was of poor quality, having been cooked sloppily. What I found shameful was the payment process. First, the owner, or someone on his behalf, refused to give me a receipt when I complained, and replied that I was fine with it. I think you should be ashamed. I had been pleasantly surprised by the family-run business last September and had thought the failure to issue a receipt was a coincidence. Instead, it was a habit of tax evasion.

14/08/2025: I'll go by points to try to be objective: Food: far from Roman cuisine. The same seasoning as the bruschetta is found in the spaghetti with clams (with onion). The service was more focused on watching TV than on the service. Ambience: A family atmosphere, but after a while, you felt like you were in the way.

19/11/2025: First of all, the staff are friendly and courteous. The food is, of course, delicious. I devoured all the pasta and tiramisu. It's located slightly down from the main Piazza Navona area, but that makes the prices reasonable. The terrace interior is also wonderful. I highly recommend it.

12/11/2025: The setting in an narrow alley usually offers peace in a hyper toursity town. But this alley allows cars to go through. So the dining experience is watching a slow stream of car scraping by. It is half-entertaining. Doing it for once is quite okay. Repeating it is not my dream. Service was not super fast, but I was not forgotten. And the young lady seemed to genuinely care that I enjoyed the food.

26/10/2025: After a long tour, we enjoyed lunch on the restaurant's terrace. Friendly staff and delicious Italian and Bavarian cuisine.
