Well located. Friendly service. A bit of a wait (between 20 and 30 minutes). Excellent lasagna.

Decent restaurant, nothing crazy. the food was okay, we ordered the antipasto and carbonara pizza, Had to wait 35mins for the appetiser which was annoying as the place was not busy. Only downside we experienced

Perfect, the pizzas were cut. Just as a side note, a knife and fork could have been used if necessary. Regarding the comments from previous guests 😉

The restaurant is ideally located, with a friendly atmosphere and very pleasant waitresses. La Clazone was by far one of the best we've had, and the carbonara was also very good (though the portion was a little small compared to other restaurants in Rome). I highly recommend this place.

Potato and ham croquettes as a starter, a generous portion 😯 The carbonara was made with homemade fresh pasta, guanciale, and Pecorino cheese—delicious! Super friendly service; the person who greeted me spoke French, English, and Spanish 😄 Undeniable value for money, just a stone's throw from the Vatican

Food was very good! We went here two days in a row. Very welcoming personal too. Try the pasta with pecorino and black pepper and you'll be in heaven next to Vatican City.

My group had a great experience dining at Ristorante Venerina while on our way to the Vatican. The carbonara was delicious. The service was quite attentive and professional. The wine selection was impressive. We had a lovely vintage. The owner was very hospitable, greeted us and helped serve with a smile. Portions were generous, and served in the traditional Italian style. The desserts were magnificent! I highly recommend the Flan! Note the corner tables are a little cumbersome to get out of with a larger seated party (we had 15+ people), though we all worked together.

My family and I were lucky to be in Rome on Christmas Day in 2024. However, we found ourselves without a place to have dinner and were looking in the Vatican area for a place to rest, sit-down, and have a traditional Italian meal. Fortunately, we came across Ristorante Venerina and had one of the best Christmas dinners ever. As luck would have it, we were back in Rome for Christmas 2025 but this time I made reservations at Ristorante Venerina (used email on website for restaurant and had ChatGPT help me with translating the request). Again, one of the best Christmas dinners that we have enjoyed! The atmosphere is that of a cozy and friendly family restaurant. The food is incredible, and after being in Rome two times and eating at any number of eateries, the food at Ristorante Venerina has toped them all! I personally thanked the owner, Venerina Maresca, for the amazing meal and for feeling at home in her restaurant - two years in a row. She hugged me and thanked me for eating at her restaurant. Venerina told me that Pope Benedict used to come to her restaurant for her apple pie and other dishes (the attached article can be translated via Gemini or ChatGPT to provide additional info on VIPs who have eaten at her restaurant). I do hope to return to Rome and the Vatican again soon. And when I do, I will certainly return to Ristorante Venerina for another incredible meal. Maybe even her famous apple pie! Buon appetito!!!

Trattoria Settimio

15/02/2026: Excellent trattoria! The food is typically Italian and very good. The service is also excellent and they try their best to accommodate requests. Even as a guest who doesn't speak Italian, you still feel very welcome, and they make every effort to communicate. Tip – be sure to try the house wine!

La Fontanella Sistina

18/05/2026: We decided to have lunch at this restaurant solely because of its strategic location in the center of Rome. We were aware of the negative reviews online, but driven by tiredness, we wanted to try it in person. Our experience turned out to be that of a classic tourist spot: not a total disaster, but certainly far from the standards of true Roman cuisine. The outdoor seating is nice but very chaotic, with tables too close together, leaving little privacy. The service was the weak point: the staff seemed visibly stressed, hasty, and aloof. The wait times were also a bit long, especially between the appetizer and the first courses. As for the food, the supplì we ordered as an appetizer were crispy on the outside but a bit warm on the inside. The Carbonara was passable, although the egg sauce was too thick and not very creamy, while the Cacio e Pepe arrived decidedly too salty. We finished with a decent tiramisu, although the ladyfingers were excessively soaked in coffee. The final bill was quite steep, largely due to the additional cover charge and service charge, which we found disproportionate to the attention we received. In short, it's an acceptable option only as a last resort if you're in the area and in a hurry, but in Rome you can definitely eat better elsewhere.
11/05/2026: One of the best pizzas I've had in Rome. Friendly, chatty service. Roman street atmosphere. Highly recommended!
