30/05/2025: We arrived without a reservation and were immediately greeted and shown to a table in the lovingly decorated courtyard. The food was truly delicious, and the portions were generous. The highlight was the homemade cacio e pepe pasta, prepared directly from the pecorino cheese at our table. The visit was rounded off with a pomelo liqueur, which was served with the bill. We would gladly return.

08/06/2025: Hidden in a courtyard with a pretty terrace, but given the crowds, the address is well-known! Excellent pizza as well as the magnificent bruschetta of the day! Dynamic service with a nice wine list in a very nice setting! To try, even if noisy but hey it's popular and it's alive here 😉

Fresh ingredients, juicy products, a mixture of flavors that together create the quintessence of flavor, which I savored in a wonderful setting taken live from the movie King Kong. 10/06/2025: What a wonderful discovery. Away from Domodossola, this place is an invitation to relax. The service is impeccable and the products are very good. The dishes are excellent and the cuisine is very affordable. The wine selection is varied and of high quality.

21/06/2025: We enjoyed our aperitifs here every evening – right on the lake with a view of Isola Bella – it couldn't be better. The atmosphere is cool, the Italian café is impeccable, and the spritzers are very good and generously mixed! A visit is especially recommended. Happy hour from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – they offer a generous snack plate. We also had pizza, which was also very good! A clear recommendation; we were there every day and never regretted it! Best bar in Stresa!

19/06/2025: Small but complete rooms, in-room amenities with every comfort. View of a magnificent landscape, the only flaw is that the rooms overlook the church bell tower. Some rooms overlook the woods.

05/07/2025: This restaurant is just amazing, set in a naturally cool cave, the environment is authentic and rustic. It’s a typically family-run restaurant yet with very high-level cooking skills by chef Francesco. Loved every dish, and you see the chef cooking in front of you in an open kitchen :) The service is attentive and people are genuinely nice. 😊

15/06/2025: Ambiente datato e poco accogliente,più che un ristorante un' osteria alla buona, ordinato pizza quattro stagioni dove avevo chiesto origano , me lo hanno versato in quantità industriale tanto da rendere immangiabile la pizza in quanto amara e al sapore di erba secca.il mio compagno ha ordinato carne e patatine, da bere mezza acqua e mezzo litro di vino della casa senza infamia e senza lode, il tutto per 50 €. A nostro dire un po' troppo caro .Non ci torneremo assolutamente

04/07/2025: I happened upon this place by chance and was very satisfied. Furnished in a simple and nice way, the owners attentive and courteous in the service. Numerous choice of pizzas with different types of dough ... Excellent choice of beers too

03/07/2025: The pizza is spectacular (I highly recommend the "Sauris"), the atmosphere is very pleasant and the service is impeccable. I also appreciated the great variety of doughs. The only flaw is the location, which ends up penalizing the search for parking.

13/06/2025: The Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromees is a beautifully preserved gem—a place that feels more like a small museum than a modern hotel. Its opulent décor, classic furnishings, and grand architecture evoke a timeless elegance that will appeal most to adult couples and mature travellers. It’s not the kind of place that caters to younger guests looking for buzz or trendiness, but that’s precisely its charm. We stayed in two rooms: the Imperial Suite and the Junior Suite vista lago. The Imperial Suite certainly had more space—including a second toilet and a large sitting area—but in truth, we found the extra room unnecessary. The real standout feature was the spacious terrace, which offered a serene setting to enjoy the outdoors in privacy. Service throughout our stay was generally excellent. Staff were professional, attentive, and polished. That said, among the more senior members, there were moments where confidence bordered on arrogance—a very fine line in hospitality. Still, it didn’t detract significantly from the overall experience. We had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, Il Borromeo. The meal was good, well-executed, and presented with care, though the food itself didn’t leave a particularly lasting impression. It met expectations for a hotel of this calibre but didn’t exceed them. In all, this is a stunning property for those who appreciate old-world luxury, quiet refinement, and a slower pace. We enjoyed our stay but probably not return.

22/04/2025: The food was only okay for a 5-star hotel! Service was good, but it felt more like being ripped off. It felt like a mass-production operation! In the bar, you're bombarded with piano music that's way too loud. A relaxed atmosphere with quiet conversation? None of that! It's better to drive a little further out (5 minutes from there) to the 5-star Villa Aminta.

15/06/2025: Quick dinner with my little girl. Served with a smile and thoughtfully. After a few minutes pizzas ready and for the little one already cut. Really good pizza.

13/07/2025: My wife and I had been there years ago for lunch, and it was truly excellent. We stayed for one night in mid-June. It was an enchanting place, with a small balcony offering a truly unique view, but... we arrived in the morning to tour the islands, and the aloof receptionist made us leave our bags in a corner without a safe. When we returned in the afternoon, the room, with its enchanting view, had no TV. Never mind. We went out onto the balcony to enjoy the view and a cup of tea, as there was a kettle and a few teabags: a herbal tea, a green tea, and two coffee bags. Never mind, we'll make up for it at the restaurant. Splendid view, decent service. The menu was sparse. I ordered a trout and was brought four pieces of fish that looked raw to me, but the waitress couldn't tell me, nor was it listed on the menu. She took the plate away and confirmed it was raw. I opted for the mixed fried lake fish my wife had ordered, and two courses arrived, each consisting of two or three pieces of fish and lots of breaded vegetables. Let's draw a veil over dessert. Breakfast in the morning is miserable, but not the bill. It's a real crime that such an enchanting place is managed so superficially.
