09/10/2025: I'm delighted to write this review because it's hard to find a place that manages to satisfy all these aspects: the pleasant antique furnishings with different tables, as well as the tablecloths and dishes; a place that seems truly designed to let you escape, at least for a few hours, the frenzy that we all fall prey to; the owner who welcomes you with a smile, immediately creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere; the undoubtedly high-quality cuisine, with service that combines family simplicity with attentiveness to the guest. 23/11/2025: The restaurant was recommended to us by a local restaurateur because we wanted to eat good fresh fish in a place not frequented by tourists. The experience was very positive; we were greeted by Massimo, who immediately showed us to our table and suggested we start with his appetizers. We tried raw shrimp, mussels au gratin, fried fish, and raw anchovies... all very good, fresh, and plentiful. We then decided to continue with two first courses: spaghetti with squid ink and their signature dish, spaghetti with sea urchin pulp, both impeccable. Finally, they brought us two delicious sorbets. To accompany the entire dinner, we enjoyed a delicious Anthilia from Donnafugata. The cost of the dinner was more than justified by the quantity and quality of the food, including a bottle of wine at a great price. Totalling €70 for two people.

15/12/2025: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had dinner at Ristorante Da Oscar to celebrate a truly special occasion: our tenth wedding anniversary, and we couldn't have made a better choice. Da Oscar is undoubtedly one of the most well-known and appreciated seafood restaurants in Livorno, and the experience lived up to its reputation. The restaurant immediately conveys a sense of high quality, both in terms of the ambiance and the impeccable service: attentive, professional, and always friendly, without ever being intrusive. You feel pampered from start to finish. The cuisine is excellent. We started with a trio of seafood appetizers, all of which were of the highest quality, with attention to detail and the freshest ingredients. Before that, we enjoyed a complimentary seafood cream soup, a much-appreciated gesture that demonstrates customer service and a love of hospitality. For my first course, I enjoyed an extraordinary dish: pasta with sea urchin sauce, intense, balanced, and with an authentic seafood flavor, truly memorable. To round out the dinner, desserts: a millefeuille and a cheesecake, both excellent, light, and perfectly balanced. A great added bonus was the option to order everything gluten-free, without sacrificing taste or quality: a fundamental consideration that makes the restaurant even more recommendable. In conclusion, Da Oscar is an absolute guarantee: excellent seafood cuisine, high-level service, attentive customer service, and meticulous attention to detail. A perfect restaurant for both a romantic dinner and special occasions. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended! 👏🍽️🐟

07/11/2025: Was really hopeful it would be great! Kids spaghetti fine, but nothing amazing. Pumpkin risotto was good. Meatballs were raw and sent back. Packaged up as take away and got home... for them to STILL be raw. All of that for the low price of almost 150 euros. Much better places to eat on the coast. Skip it.

28/10/2025: Service was excellent, the food is good, and we definitely enjoyed our dinner. Be sure to make reservations. This restaurant is recommended. Americans please note that the portions are small, relative to typical American expectations for dinner. You definitely need an appetizer with your meal if you are hungry. No salads or vegetables, which is also different relative to typical American meals. This restaurant is not unique in the general lack of vegetables for dinner. We experienced this across Italy and Denmark during our trip, so this must be typical.

13/12/2025: I'm a regular in Mandello, but this was my first time at "il Giardinetto." I'd say the experience was positive in every way: a spectacular location with a splendid window overlooking the lake, a beautifully decorated dining room, excellent and well-prepared food, absolutely friendly and competent staff, and reasonable prices. If I have one tiny complaint, it's about the menu, which requires a smartphone to read; I think a paper menu would be more appreciated. I'll definitely be back.

20/09/2025: Dining on Grand Canal, across from Basilica Santa Maria was quite an experience. Delicious, high quality food and immaculate service. If you expect massive dishes, like most average American tourists in the reviews, there are other restaurants available. This is for beauty and quality. Hemingway risotto was 10/10.

We had an excellent appetizer to start, but the real highlight was the Paccheri with cuttlefish and artichokes: simply delicious! The dish was perfectly balanced and the ingredients were incredibly fresh. ​Ideal for enjoying quality seafood. Highly recommended!
