Ottimi i gamberi rossi di Mazara sulla gelatina di gazpacho e il baccala' in tempura; gradevoli i gamberoni lardellati sulla crema di ceci e lenticchie. Superlativi i cannoli ai carciofi con pecorino erborinato e non da meno il risotto con aglio nero. Adeguata la scelta dei vini con occhio di riguardo alle bollicine italiane e francesi

02/02/2025: The food is expertly prepared, tasty on the palate and with the right flavours. The service was impeccable, courteous waiters and good advisors. The owner seemed like an excellent commander with how he cares about the care and cleanliness of the kitchen and the restaurant. The price is correct. There are no parking spaces, but it's not a problem, just turn to the side streets of the place to park without problems.

09/02/2025: Una delusione. Forse avevo troppe aspettative da slow-food. Ho mangiato una porzione di pesce rombo per 22 euro che era impresentabile da quanto piccola. Il vino in mescita consigliato senza lista dei vini molto deludente. Il servizio con due cameriere molto giovani che capisco debbano fare esperienza però se rovesciando a metà una tazzina di caffè non te lo rifanno mancano proprio le basi. Peccato.

26/01/2025: Ottima qualità, c’è da dire che la cucina a vista è una garanzia, un bigliettino da visita. Abbiamo pranzato oggi in questo locale accogliente, ambiente famigliare.. Assaggio di 5 antipasti, risotto con gambero rosso crudo , frittura, calamaretti ripieni con scarola e olive.. olio cilentano buono. L’unica pecca, se così posso dire, per il mio palato, non ho gradito l’olio a crudo sul riso, ha coperto un po’ il sapore ma devo dire che a prescindere da questo, è stato un piatto eccellente. Cucina di madre in figlio. Ci piace. Da riandarci volentieri .

07/03/2025: Some "trusted" friends recommended this place to us, praising the fish-based dishes that are offered, so we decided to take a trip to Trieste.
Once seated at the table, a little narrow for 4 people, after overcoming a small inconvenience with a smelly glass, promptly replaced, we ordered a bottle of "known" Ribolla Gialla, preferring this one over others; unfortunately the temperature was not ideal and the waitress intervened promptly by bringing us a bucket of ice.
When ordering, it was suggested that we try the tasting menu but, given the number of courses, we preferred to create our own itinerary by deciding to share the dishes in order to test the qualities of the various dishes that had been so praised to us.
From here on the much vaunted jewels were transformed into stones:
-the sardines were dry enough to suggest that they had been heated (not even that much) before serving, the courgettes were absent, not even the scapece cream (according to a Neapolitan) was up to par
-the provola meatballs, cold inside, were "drowned" in the warm velouté, the flavor of the cod entirely covered by the flavor of the provola
- the gratin marrow or rather traces of marrow (completely crystallized) with 4 shrimps balanced on the "bones" instead of the shrimps
- the Tuna in "well toasted carriage" completely dominated by that of the well cooked mozzarella (buffalo 🤔?), the side sauce misleading
-the trio of tartare (the best dish) served too cold
-the cacio e pepe linguine is slightly overcooked
-The paccheri drowned in a lukewarm tomato sauce and tasteless stracciatella
-the ravioli sunk in a black-white stew that made them cold and tasteless
- the ziti, to finish, seared in a Genoese sauce that made the Neapolitans sitting at the table jump
At the end of our journey we reported our opinions to the waitress, although already evident with the residues left on the plates, who promised to immediately take them to the chef.
At this point we preferred to finish the second bottle of Ribolla, rather than venture into other experiences.
Also disappointed by the lack of discussion with the chef Pasqualino (present in the restaurant) who in our opinion could have been accepted after the constructive criticism we expressed, we received Joia's jewel: the Precious Bill.
Meanwhile, the two bottles of Ribolla Collavini at €60/each. , personally I have never paid more than €45 for this label even in higher caliber restaurants, then the "discount" on the dishes ordered for a total of €180 including place settings (four) and 1 liter of water (microfiltered).
I leave it to the readers to make their own considerations regarding the motto used by Pasquale Sorrentino to describe Joia
... "And this Joia nest was born where hospitality, quality and convenience come first."
03/03/2025: Big disappointment. Discrete place, friendly staff, normal prices. Menu that seems appealing but then, net of what is 'not' available (it's there, but already the choice isn't too varied), we found the dishes chosen rather insignificant, poorly proportioned and with questionable choices in ingredients. It's a shame because the quality of the fish seemed very good anyway. We will not return, there is much better in Trieste
