11/03/2026: Very welcoming restaurant, very kind and patient staff, super food, excellent service, even more fabulous atmosphere

30/10/2025: I was able to use the catering service at La Lanterna restaurant, all managed by Mrs. Regina, who had proposed herself as a highly prestigious wedding planner. The couple had their rehearsal dinner, which went very well, everything had been decided, or at least we thought so. We arrive at the location where the event was supposed to take place, and find the aperitif in full sun, bowls with melted ice, a few appetizers and a few non-alcoholic appetizers, appetizers served on small plates standing up, some a lot, some nothing, we enter the room, where I must say it was incredibly hot, 33 degrees, we sit at the table, we are served water with an eyedropper by rude and listless waiters, I must say that there was no maître d' to manage everything, it is time for the first courses, very good, but one guest does not like it and asks a waiter for a plate of pasta with oil, he is rudely refused, alleging that the chef refuses to serve this dish at the table, we get to the fish that was supposed to be a sea bream, we were presented with a strange fish, after much insistence, we received the answer it was turbot, all this without informing anyone, I would like to point out that Sea bream and turbot are two different types of fish, so if someone was allergic, it could have been a serious problem. There was a staff member who had to entertain children and adults, and their food was very limited and very late. After lunch, a corner was set up for the liqueurs I had purchased, high-quality liqueurs, placed in the sun, therefore very hot. After insisting, they brought ice, but the chocolate brought for tasting was all melted. When it was time for dessert, the dessert buffet was brought out, also in the sun, and they all melted. Luckily, the cake went well, even though it wasn't given to the staff. Furthermore, coffee and sparkling wine weren't served, clarifying that this hadn't been agreed upon with the bride and groom. Do you think this is possible? Even if it wasn't agreed upon, it's obvious! So my advice: don't hire catering, venues, and other nonsense; for a certain amount of money, hire a nice, classy restaurant and you'll certainly enjoy yourself more.

22/02/2026: A wonderful discovery. I booked this little restaurant a few days ago after reading the many super-positive reviews. Well, they were confirmed and more. Exceptional food, from appetizers to desserts. The service was friendly, precise, and knowledgeable. The price was average, in fact, fair for the quality! It's always a pleasure to find people who love their work. Thank you.

12/02/2026: I visited La Griglia in San Gimignano and was very satisfied. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly and helpful. The typical local dishes are carefully prepared and have an authentic flavor; I recommend the pasta with ragù and the steak, which was really well cooked. I also found the quality/price ratio to be good for the area. I will definitely return when I pass through San Gimignano.

06/01/2026: A wonderful experience. A dinner with a surprise seafood menu, incredibly fresh and expertly and originally prepared. The atmosphere is truly pleasant, relaxed yet meticulously crafted. A truly wonderful discovery!

02/01/2026: The food is good but VERY expensive for the type of food and the quantity. We spent 160€ total for 4. Only fix menu: the cheapest was 30€ each which included 1 small appetizer, 1 small entrée, 1 desert and coffee. Wine and water are extra. They charged 10€ for portion of penne pasta with olive oil for a kid. Service was average. UPDATE After receiving a “like” on my review, which suggests that other clients share similar feelings, I feel compelled to update it. After reading your reply, I am also compelled to remove additional stars. I expressed a personal opinion about pricing and service, which I am fully entitled to do as a customer. Your response, however, was unnecessarily aggressive, condescending, and disrespectful — not only toward me, but, judging from other replies, toward other clients as well. For someone who presents themselves as promoting good food, good times, and hospitality, your tone communicates something very different. And to be clear: we were not “friends.” I was a paying customer. In that moment, you were providing a service — nothing more, nothing less. Courtesy and professionalism should apply regardless of whether a client agrees with you or not. Criticism can be discussed; rudeness cannot be justified.

21/02/2026: Discovered this place by chance during a visit to Viareggio. It's a shame we live far away and can't return. Excellent food, from appetizer to dessert. We had tordelli with ragù and ravioli with fondue and truffle shavings. For main courses, we had ribs, beef fillet, and sliced ​​beef with fondue. The meat was tender and flavorful. The service was exceptional, with perfect customer service. In total, for four first courses, four second courses, four desserts, two appetizers, wine, and water, we spent €300. Excellent price for the quality and quantity.

30/12/2025: We chose this restaurant on a beautiful Sunday in November, inspired by the numerous positive reviews, and I must say we were completely satisfied! We sat in the second room, more modern and welcoming than the entrance, and immediately appreciated the elegant yet unpretentious atmosphere and the kindness of the staff. Pappardelle with wild boar ragù, fried porcini mushrooms, a delicious roasted porcini mushroom cap, and the inevitable steak! A good red wine accompanied it, and a cream-filled millefeuille for dessert. What can I say... it was an absolutely satisfying lunch. We waited a bit for the meat, probably because the place was crowded, but it was absolutely worth it: quality produce, cooked properly, and beautifully presented... Excellent! The pappardelle with wild boar thrilled the kids, and the mushrooms were the icing on the cake of a lunch that simply leaves you wanting more. Considering the quality of the product, the bill seemed fair for what we ordered. Parking might be a bit difficult along the road that runs through this small corner of Nievole; I'd recommend arriving 10 minutes before rush hour. Otherwise, "Il Pellegrino" keeps all its promises and offers customers a totally positive experience! Top marks!

19/02/2026: Top 5 meal of my life, and the rest of my group might rank it even higher. The food was 10/10, but it was the atmosphere that elevated the night to something we still talk about 2yrs later. We visited a number of vineyards, but it’s the €10 bottle of house red (signed by the staff) that now sits on our mantle at home.

18/02/2026: It changed owners a few years ago (grazie mille, Signora Maria e figlie!!) and, of course, the food also changed. But the current owner only added his personal touch, nothing more than that – because the quality and flavor remain impeccable. The atmosphere remains incredible, the pasta is the same, and the caramel cheesecake is, at the very least, curious: it's worth trying. Special mention for the exceptional service: even arriving for dinner at a time of low traffic (which can be an advantage), it was easy to see that the waiter not only has the training and practice to serve; in fact, he has the gift of serving well, as he was polite and kind, a gesture that has been somewhat difficult to find among Florentines lately. The same goes for the owner: he made a point of saying goodbye and chatting with us for a while. Don't be fooled by the location: even though it's close to tourist attractions (it's very close to Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio), it's not a "tourist trap" at all; quite the opposite. It's not exactly a cheap place, but the cost/benefit ratio is more than worth it!

08/02/2026: What a truly wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious – you could genuinely taste the love and care in every dish. Everything felt thoughtful, authentic and made with heart. But what really makes this place special is the warmth and hospitality. The restaurant is run by Walter and his wife, and their passion, kindness and attention to detail are felt everywhere – in the service, in the atmosphere, and of course in the food. A charming, incredibly sweet restaurant right in the heart of Florence.

21/03/2026: Overall, the food was delicious. We had the pasta carbonara and the lasagna. The lasagna was especially good. For dessert, the homemade tiramisu was also spectacular. In addition, the service and atmosphere were excellent. 100% recommended.

21/03/2026: This place has a really nice atmosphere and a very pleasant ambiance. From the very beginning you are greeted by a great staff, everyone is very nice and hospitable. The food is a clear ten, a special recommendation for the Quattro Formaggi pizza, and be sure to leave room for the tiramisu because it is delicious. A true delight for all the senses, see you again!

12/03/2026: Our friends arrived separately from us and were recommended Yellow Door by their tassista for our large group of four adults and three children. He called and made a reservation on our behalf with the manager, Simon, who promptly set us up with a table within an hour of making the reservation. The entire staff was friendly and took incredible care of us. However, special thanks goes to our server, Guiditta, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and patient with our group of two families. She made great recommendations and we left feeling taken care of and appreciative of her attention to our table—as well as genuinely enjoying our conversation with her beyond her service. Florence always gets it right on the hospitality front, but I can’t imagine a better experience for a larger party and last-minute reservation. Well exceeded any expectations. Well done, Yellow Bar. We look forward to our return!
