Excellent experience and ambience clouded by bad attitude. Strolling the side streets and minor avenues may often bring positive surprises. This will be one of them. An indeed nice spot away from the hustle and busy tourist tracks. Food is excellently well prepared. Not too much. Not too sparse. (Tosta crudo, risotto, formaggi) Served at the exact moment you are ready for it. Comprehensive - and impressive - winelist. So why just two stars for the ambience? Well this quiet evening, the owner (apparently) decided to be seated outside at the other table next to me. - He was noisy. Mainly on his phone. Watching late night shows while having his meal. Making phone calls. Informally having the staff at his table. Fine. OK. But smoking made it for me. I’d love to come back. Also with friends and family. With great pleasure. However this attitude needs to be adjusted.

Came here for a Florentine steak. Was good but for the price you can probably find better in the city. Nice ambiance but they left the front door open the whole time so on a very hot day it was quite warm inside. Truffle pasta was very tasty, if you like truffle.

Amazing find in Florence! Loved every dish, our server David was not only professional, knowledgeable but, most importantly was genuine Hospstality, a great addition to the team! I would highly recommend this long standing institution, don’t forget to try their homemade 12 yr aged balsamic…. Had to bring a couple bottles back. We will return!

Well, if I could, I'd give it six stars. Nice, very nice. Smiling waiters who are very helpful and patient. The food was fantastic. We had the steak. Perfect in every way. Absolutely no faults. A cozy, just-right place. Although the location is average. Still, whenever I'm in Florence, I'll be back. And I'll eat the steak again...

Best food in florence. Reserved a table for the first night we were here and ended up going back a second time. The steak was to die for, and they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine when we left! Can not recommend this place enough. Great service and great people.

We had dinner at Osteria Vecchio Cancello and had a truly positive experience. The owners, like all the staff, are extremely kind, welcoming, and helpful. The two brothers who own the osteria clearly convey their passion for food and wine in every course. We chose a splendid 2kg Florentine steak, cooked to perfection (rare), accompanied by two appetizers and an excellent wine. Quality ingredients, meticulously prepared cuisine, and truly excellent value. A place we'll definitely return to.

Excellent pasta and lovely service

Super cute restaurant and delicious food, super attentive and truly kind service. Highly recommended! We had traditional dishes and they were the best of our trip.
