03/01/2026: A good location for visiting San Gimignano, about a 10-minute walk to the historic center. You can drive right up to the entrance, and even if there's no parking, you have plenty of time to get settled in. Simple rooms, a good breakfast in a lovely room, friendly and helpful staff, and a lovely picturesque view of San Gimignano and its towers, even more beautiful at night, from just outside the entrance, but perhaps from some rooms as well. I removed one star because the information says "wheelchair accessible," which isn't entirely true.

I don't know what the wine is like because I don't drink alcohol if I have to drive like so many others do in Italy who then crash into guardrails and kill innocent people... 🤷 If you have to drive to Milan and already start drinking wine here, I don't know how far you'll go... ..hoping you don't kill innocent people.. 🤷
20/12/2025: The portions were really small, both for the entrees and the side dishes. Unfortunately, we didn't take photos, but the portions weren't like the ones pictured here.
A meager portion of fries for €4.50 is definitely too much.
The place is very nice, and the service is quick.

13/04/2025: They say they are open all day, till late evening. We modified our route to Siena to eat there, only to discover that the kitchen was closed (at 15.00). It was a big disappointment.
13/04/2025: Both the food and the service were perfect. We arrived without a reservation and they treated us wonderfully.

05/03/2026: Tuscan food and hospitality, at its absolute best. Enzo and Sonia made us feel so welcome and took the time to describe the traditional dishes on the menu. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was sublime. If you are heading to Siena, I highly recommend you grab something to eat at Ristorante da Enzo. You won’t be disappointed 😊🇮🇹

13/09/2025: Only 2 stars because we based our choice of a place for a week's stay on these reviews and were very, very disappointed with the breakfast.
300 euros per night and the same every day, plus an additional 6 euros for an omelet or soft-boiled egg.
The lunch selection was also very average. We only ate once. Dinner was also decent, but that was about it. It's better to go to the nearby towns.
10/08/2025: A perfect dinner. The view is spectacular, the food delicious, and the service attentive, friendly but not intrusive. Everything was excellent; I highly recommend it if you're in the area. My favorite dishes were the
pappardelle with venison and porcini mushrooms and the peach and thyme tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream.

The property also has a restaurant where the food is exceptionally good. The dishes are typical of the area, and the quality is high. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Recommended.

04/01/2026: Just returned from two nights at the property, beautifully maintained and cared for by Elena, who has been practically alone these days. The location is beautiful; in the heat, the large pool must be a plus. The Giotto room we occupied is very large and comfortable. The bed was truly superb. The large, beautiful marble bathroom is just a little awkward to reach. The shower handles are a bit awkward. The large bathtub is now unused. The restaurant is adequate for the property, with local dishes prepared very well by a local chef. We would gladly return in the warmer weather.

was tasty. Overall, definitely will come back.

One of the ordered dishes (grilled vegetables) was missing and an additional bottle of water was added to the bill.
It all came together to make a rather disappointing impression.
03/01/2026: We had lunch at this restaurant in the center of Montalcino... Pleasant atmosphere, excellent service, and truly delicious food... Highly recommended are the pici all'aglione.

09/11/2025: I absolutely loved my stay at La Torre alle Tolfe and appreciated how kind and knowledgeable all the staff were. I spent five nights here and everything was great - the food was delicious, I loved learning more about the property through the historical tour, olive oil and wine tastings, and animal feeding/regenerative farming tour, and enjoyed meeting many interesting people. I definitely hope to be back again and highly recommend staying here!

Enoteca La Fortezza di Montalcino

01/03/2026: We visited Enoteca la Fortezza in Montalcino, and it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip to Tuscany. The service was exceptional, especially from Mike, who welcomed us with attention, knowledge, and a genuine passion for what he does.
He explained the winemaking process in the region in depth: the differences between Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino, the characteristics of the terroir, the styles of each producer, and the particularities of the vintages. We had already done other tastings at wineries, but here the experience was even more complete, educational, and engaging.
We had the opportunity to taste wines from the Tassi winery, with detailed explanations throughout the tasting, going far beyond the basics. It was a true lesson about Montalcino in the form of wine.
The wine shop's collection is impressive, with carefully selected labels of the highest quality. The space is special: located in the Montalcino Fortress, it's even possible to climb the walls and enjoy the view, which makes the experience even more memorable.
Impeccable service, profound knowledge, and extraordinary wines. A must-visit for anyone who wants to truly understand Montalcino.
