Overall, a good experience, friendly atmosphere and welcoming host. However, 2 out of 3 bottles we bought and immediately tried in 3 consecutive days were absolutely ruined. Those were vintages of 2000s, and most likely they were stored incorrectly, in warm rooms. Please be aware!

Wine tasting was amazing lead by Irland that was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Even made recommendations within our budget and didn’t try to upsell us on anything we couldn’t afford. Definitely recommend doing a tasting here if you are visiting Motalcino

Montalcino red wine, Brunello, and Moscatelli (the DOC white wine produced in Montalicino) are available. There are tables where you can taste the wine accompanied by local culinary delights. Highly recommended! We received an exceptionally warm welcome and very attentive service. We were particularly impressed by the huge selection at the open wine tasting. You can leisurely sample different wines, receive expert explanations, and never feel rushed. In my opinion, the prices are very fair, especially considering the quality and the selection. In the end, I was so impressed that I immediately chose a magnum and had it conveniently delivered to my home. A wonderful place for wine lovers, with friendly staff, a wide selection, and honest advice. We will definitely be back.

We had one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip at this enoteca in Montalcino—truly the best wine tasting we had in all of Italy. We initially booked a Brunello tasting to celebrate my friend Mary’s birthday, and from the start, everything was exceptional. We were seated at a long, beautiful table overlooking the courtyard of the fortress, which created such a stunning and relaxed atmosphere. The tasting began with three outstanding Brunellos, perfectly accompanied by an abundant and thoughtfully curated charcuterie board—beautiful cheeses, meats, and breads that paired seamlessly with the wines. Every detail felt intentional and elevated. What truly made the experience unforgettable, however, was the sommelier. He was incredibly engaging, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic. You could feel how much he loved what he was sharing with us, and that energy made the tasting even more special. As he saw how much we were enjoying everything—and in celebration of Mary’s birthday—he generously brought out several additional wines from their higher-end and reserve selections. Tasting those extra wines, including an exceptional Brunello that has received international acclaim, was such an unexpected and unforgettable highlight. We have done many wine tastings, both in Italy and beyond, and this one stands far above the rest. It was not just a tasting—it was an experience filled with warmth, generosity, and true passion.

We had a tasting of five glasses. The staff were very kind and helpful, and the 2020/21 vintage wines were delicious.

Always top wines to taste and also interesting new ones

We visited Enoteca la Fortezza in Montalcino, and it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip to Tuscany. The service was exceptional, especially from Mike, who welcomed us with attention, knowledge, and a genuine passion for what he does. He explained the winemaking process in the region in depth: the differences between Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino, the characteristics of the terroir, the styles of each producer, and the particularities of the vintages. We had already done other tastings at wineries, but here the experience was even more complete, educational, and engaging. We had the opportunity to taste wines from the Tassi winery, with detailed explanations throughout the tasting, going far beyond the basics. It was a true lesson about Montalcino in the form of wine. The wine shop's collection is impressive, with carefully selected labels of the highest quality. The space is special: located in the Montalcino Fortress, it's even possible to climb the walls and enjoy the view, which makes the experience even more memorable. Impeccable service, profound knowledge, and extraordinary wines. A must-visit for anyone who wants to truly understand Montalcino. We'll be back soon!
