Il Grifo In Montalcino

The food was excellent, but unfortunately the service timing let the experience down. For the starters, all dishes arrived together as expected. However, when it came to the main course, the steaks were served well before the side dishes. In fact, two of us had finished our steaks before the sides even arrived. I hoped this was just a one-off mistake, but the same issue happened with dessert. The three of us ordered two tiramisus and one coffee with biscuits. The coffee and biscuits arrived 7–10 minutes before the tiramisus, meaning one person had effectively finished their dessert before the rest of the table had even been served. These kinds of service delays disrupt the flow of a meal and take away from the shared dining experience. The staff were very apologetic, which was appreciated, but consistently poor timing between dishes is what prevents this restaurant from being a 5-star experience. The food itself was excellent, but the kitchen and service coordination needs improvement.

Restaurant on Via Mazzini in Montalcino. You can enjoy typical Tuscan dishes and a good glass of wine. Attentive and knowledgeable staff.

The food exceeded all expectations. We had a tagliata and it was truly excellent! The same goes for the dessert! Impeccable service, extremely kind and attentive staff. What more can I say? Go there, it's truly worth it!

Great atmosphere...and courtesy

Excellent Italian restaurant, lovely decor and very pleasant service. The pasta is homemade and everything is delicious, all at a reasonable price for this touristy area. I highly recommend it.

The homemade food was wonderful. The place was very elegant and peaceful. The service was impeccable. I would definitely return!

Long wait times for orders, small portions, and rather stiff service. One of the ordered dishes (grilled vegetables) was missing, and an extra bottle of water was added to the bill. All of this added up to a rather disappointing experience.

We had lunch at this restaurant in the center of Montalcino... Pleasant atmosphere, excellent service, and truly delicious food... Highly recommended are the pici all'aglione.

We went to Il Grifo for dinner in December. A very charming, well-maintained restaurant with a beautiful table setting. The wine list is extensive; we chose two glasses of Brunello by the glass, which seemed way too expensive (€12 a glass), not so much for the price itself but for the amount poured into each glass—just a finger's worth of wine... a bit too little for that price! For main courses, we had a truly delicious mushroom tart with pecorino cream. The tagliatelle with wild boar ragù and the wild boar in dolceforte sauce with sautéed chicory were nothing special; we expected them to be more flavorful and with more character. An appetizer, a first course, a second course, and a side dish cost about €90. A bit too much in our opinion, especially since two out of three dishes didn't live up to expectations (obviously in our opinion). Nothing to complain about the quality of the products, but the value for money was a bit below expectations.
