15/05/2025: A truly characteristic place where you can breathe the true Ladin atmosphere in a familiar and intimate context. The farm is an ancient structure expertly restored with wood everywhere and organized in small rooms, which makes the meals pleasant and not very noisy. The cuisine is truly excellent with a fixed menu tested for 32 years! We particularly liked the fact that all the guests were served at the same time with the various courses, almost as if they were all one big family waiting for the dishes to be taken out of the oven.

22/05/2025: Perfect place. Relaxing, intimate atmosphere, deliberately not too "formal" and that makes you feel at home. Right wine list, with super fair prices and excellent labels. The cuisine? Wonderful, without frills that ranges from traditional to slightly more reworked dishes. Very high level. Raw materials of excellent quality, fresh seasonal. You can feel the passion and heart of the owner when you are sitting at his table. After the first time, it is impossible not to return.

23/05/2025: Really beautiful and well-kept environment. Very kind and helpful staff. The quality of the meat is good and cooked impeccably. The simple tagliata is good, but I have eaten better. Also, the portions are really small. Delicious turnip tops. I expected the sautéed escarole (the photo is missing) to be cooked in a pan, also because I asked the waiter how it was cooked, and instead at the table I received raw escarole (salad). The extra virgin olive oil they use deserves a comment because it is delicious. They don't make the bread and you can taste it, too bad. The desserts are ok.

14/06/2025: Eravamo di passaggio a Igea Marina e mi è stato consigliato dall'hotel di andare al Picchio Pizza. Esperienza unica, staff gentilissimo. PIADINE buonissime e strafarcite, ingredienti di qualità. Anche il trancio di pizza buonissimo Io ho preso una piadina Salsiccia, cipolla e peperoni ed era buonissima. La mia ragazza ha preso hna Mortadella, stracciatella e pistacchi e mi ha riferito che è una delle più buone che ha mai mangiato! Nulla da dire. 5 Stelle meritatissime

Very honest prices. Very kind service staff who allowed us to stay singing until late at night. Everything perfect. Bravo!!!!!

15/05/2025: Wow, just wow. Anyone who enjoys authentic Italian cuisine with truly amazing seafood and fish will be in the best hands here. Super delicious, great ambiance, reasonable prices, and perfect service. Since everything is cooked fresh in-house, they can accommodate any requests, and everything we tried was simply delicious. For example, there wasn't a dessert on the menu that I liked. The chef said he had something else and brought out a wonderful cake. Insanely delicious and highly recommended.

02/06/2025: Location neat, clean and welcoming. Friendly and professional staff, the bill in line with what was consumed but as far as the food is concerned in my opinion we are not there. We ordered courgette flowers and fried chanterelle mushrooms as an appetizer, both good, a mixed grill of meat and 2 carbonara or rather 4 ……. the first time the pasta (short) was more than al dente. Reported to the staff in the dining room, the latter took away the dishes who, after having noted the actual undercooking of the pasta and having apologized to the chef, proposed the same dish again with, this time, a fusillone which, unfortunately this time, was more than cooked. At this point we got up, obviously leaving the plate, we asked for the bill, we paid and, after paying, we expressed our disappointment with the dish which, apparently, was not appreciated by the owner who responded sarcastically with a "I imagined".
18/05/2025: We had dinner last night invited by friends and we were very impressed. The place is very well cared for both as a whole and in the details. Refined and welcoming atmosphere. We had an appetizer and a second course. Fried anchovies and lamb. Artichoke salad and fried fish. The raw materials were of quality and the dishes, although apparently simple, were enriched by refined reductions and flavors that married in a surprising and delicious way with the dishes. The portions were decidedly abundant, which is rare especially for those like us who come from Milan. Very good white wine, not banal. To finish, no dessert but a very fresh liqueur. Recommended experience. Excellent value for money.

We also really liked the cod cooked at low temperature with marsala sauce and pears. Highly recommended (we shared one) the mixed antipasto. 03/06/2025: Outstanding osteria on Piazza Garibaldi in Desenzano that is absolutely worth visiting if you are visiting! We started with the mixed cured meats and cheeses platter and were blown away by the high quality and delicious tastes! Next my wife had a Mantua-style rice with sausage and grams cheese… and a very tender pork rib! I had one of the nightly specials- baccalá on polenta with a butter and basil sauce. On my goodness… so amazing!! We will definitely be back before we go home!

22/05/2025: I must admit that I have never been to the Calvi restaurant and it was a truly pleasant discovery, a gastronomic experience that manages to combine elegance and simplicity with great balance. The cuisine is of the highest level, with attention to the smallest details both in the plating and in the flavors. Each dish tells a story of research and passion, thanks to excellent quality ingredients, fresh and carefully selected. The combinations are refined but never excessive, capable of enhancing the natural flavors without overloading them. The service is another strong point: friendly, present but never intrusive, with a staff always ready to recommend and explain with competence the dishes and the wines to pair. You feel pampered from start to finish. The atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming, perfect for both a romantic dinner and a lunch with friends. The environment manages to convey serenity, with an attention to detail that is also reflected in the furnishings and background music. Finally, the quality-price ratio is more than fair. Considering the quality of the ingredients, the mastery of the kitchen and the level of service, the bill is absolutely adequate and well balanced. In short, Calvi is a restaurant where you gladly return: to eat well, relax and feel welcomed. A round of applause to Donato for his passion. Highly recommended.

It’s exactly what happens when you enter their home: they open the doors to their home, welcome you with a smile and treat you like family. This is Calvi: warmth, passion, care. It’s one of those places where you don’t just go to eat well — even if, trust me, you eat like a god — but to live a moment. The place is elegant and welcoming, with large and comfortable spaces. But my favorite corner is near the pass, because from there I can see everything. The kitchen is completely open, a real theater where the show never stops. I could stay there for hours watching how they move, how they take care of every detail… and in fact, every now and then, my wife calls me to order! Chef Donato is young, but with an edge. He has a head, a heart and a lot of hunger (not just for cooking, but for growing): he studies, travels, puts himself to the test. He never stops. Angelica, on the other hand, is the sommelier you would always like to have at your table: brilliant, very friendly, knowledgeable. She reads inside you and can always recommend the right glass, even if you want to dare with a cocktail or a spirit. In the dining room there is also Domenica, sweet, smiling, who makes you feel immediately at ease. Their cuisine is lively, contemporary, but rooted in tradition. You can find meat, fish, vegetarian dishes, daily specials, new dishes every season... but always with a clear philosophy: seasonality, respect for the raw materials and zero waste. I have eaten some of the best dishes of my life at their place. And every time it is different, because the menu changes, the inspiration changes... but the quality never changes. And then there are the leavened products. Bread, focaccia, sandwiches, panettone, brioche: all made by them, with sourdough and selected flours. I often stop by just to get the freshly baked bread, because it is truly special. I close with desserts and ice creams… which are not just “good”. They are poetry. The ice creams are churned on the spot, the desserts are never banal. Calvi is not just any restaurant. It is a real experience, made of heart, technique, family and so much beauty. If you have the chance, go there. Let yourself be embraced.
