07/05/2026: As a couple touring Emelia Romagna guided by the recommendations in New Yorker Fred Plotkin’s fantastic gourmet food guide to Italy (latest edition now 12 years old), this was a disappointing experience after eating in Firenze, Siena, and Bologna. In terms of service, this restaurant lacks the warmth and personality we’ve come to expect. The ladies serving were cordial but stiff and were not helpful paring wines with the Ferrarese multi-course dishes we ordered. We chose a red wine, Vigna del Pruno 2021, from the Ravenna region that was quite good after airing in a carafe. The cured meat appetizers were the highlight of the meal including the mild, spreadable cheese and pickled onions. The onions were a wonderful palette cleanser between meats. The next dish came in two parts. First the Cappellacci di Zucca all’ Antico Ragù surprised us as the butternut squash grown in the Ferrara region is the Violina, a sweet variety. We are learning that dishes like this which contrasts the sweet with the savory is a local tradition going back to Renaissance times. For us it is a taste needing to be acquired as we think the savory pork based ragu and pasta competes with the sweet squash filling. Also on this plate was Pasticcio all’ uso di Ferrara in crosta di Pasta frolla. Again, this is a sweet/savory combination that we’ll need to learn to appreciate. It’s a slightly sweet pastry shell filled with a good mix of pasta, ragu, nutmeg, and cheese. To our taste it would have been better served sans sugar. We were prepared to enjoy the next dish of a special salami which is highly spiced, savory, and rich in aromas as part of the Salama da Sugo con Puré di patate. We could not finish it as the sausage was over-the-top salty. No other spicy flavor was discernible as a result and the mashed potatoes soaking in the broth of the sausage was sweetened. Once more, unnecessarily to our tastes. We would have enjoyed the desserts had the salt from the previous dish not wiped out our taste buds. We can’t penalize this restaurant too much as we think the Ferrara style of contrasting the sweet with savory is not to our liking. But the unpalatable, overly salty salami was unacceptable and the service uninspiring.

04/05/2026: Excellent dinner in an elegant setting. Prompt and attentive service, very good food. We enjoyed the macaroni pie and the veal cheek. The traditional pinzini appetizer was exceptional. Highly recommended.

11/05/2026: I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say it's the best pizza in Ferrara, in a refined yet family-friendly setting with friendly staff. But back to the pizza: a crispy crust on the outside and a soft, easily digestible crust made with quality ingredients; the difference is noticeable when you sleep soundly at night without having to get up to drink. When you get up in the middle of the night to drink, it means the dough hasn't completed its rising cycle and the gluten in your stomach is crying out for water. A wide menu of flavors and doughs, what can I say? Try it and believe it.

17/07/2026: Albachiara is primarily a takeout pizzeria. The smell drew me to this excellent pizzeria. I was pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the staff. The pizza is very good, and the quality of the ingredients is evident. Excellent prices for Ferrara.

14/05/2026: Excellent experience, they love what they do. Delicious options, friendly staff. There are very limited seats available for eating inside the place but it is set up for take away and delivery (and during the time I ate there, about 20 pizzas were actually left). So that says something about the preference of the locals.

16/06/2026: I was surprised. The house's great strength is the exceptional quality of its pizza and sandwiches. Everything is prepared with visibly fresh and carefully selected ingredients, resulting in an authentic and irresistible flavor. 🔝The most surprising aspect is the lightness of the dough and fillings: the food is incredibly tasty, but without that sensation of excessive oil or fat common in other places. It's a perfect balance that pleases the palate and guarantees a light meal. Whether it's a quick snack or an authentic pizza, La Pizzoteca da Michi offers consistency, excellence, and service that's worth every visit.

19/06/2026: I ordered two piadinas with some drinks each, and they arrived two hours later, but that was fine. The courier didn't even have the correct change, so they "ripped off" me for almost €20. I'd say they should fix the couriers and the organization.

18/06/2026: Today I discovered that happiness has a shape!! It's round, folded, and served hot.

14/06/2026: Good traditional dishes, including gluten-free ones, but when we booked, we were told that almost everything was available, while in reality, when it came time to eat (just half an hour later...) there were only two options available... for the rest, just the classic spaghetti with various sauces. Are you kidding us?

26/05/2026: We went here for dinner. We were greeted with kindness and friendliness. The atmosphere was lovely and attentive. The tagliatelle bianca with rib ragù was spectacular. For the main course, an excellent carne salada sautéed with vegetables. Donut with warm cream and chocolate was very good. Exceptional value for money. Well done! P.S. It's a shame there isn't much parking.

The wait times are minimal and the dishes are excellent. All the products are top-quality. The owner's description of the dish stays with you for a long time. Congratulations!

19/07/2026: At the end of the meal, you just want to go into the kitchen and hug everyone. Absolutely spectacular! Carefully prepared, sophisticated dishes, bursting with flavor. Spacious and intimate outdoor tables, a lovely exterior, and total customer service. The truffle egg appetizer was breathtaking. The truffle fillet with parmesan fondue was fantastic. Well done, that's all. It's truly a pleasure to experience experiences like yours.
