17/12/2024: Locale curato e accogliente, servizio veloce e cucina genuina ma allo stesso tempo ricercata e attenta nei particolari. Vengo spesso qui a mangiare e mi sono trovato sempre benissimo in questo locale che ormai per me è qualcosa di familiare. Continuate così!

06/12/2024: I've tried many sandwich shops in the city but Ottavio has always been my first choice for at least twenty years. Their sandwiches have always been of undisputed quality, imaginative, and the choice is varied. Honest prices! I would widen the choice of beers though! It is run by welcoming, well-organised, and friendly people. In short, there must be a reason if it has been open for 35 years 😉

17/11/2024: historic ice cream shop, very famous and well-known with very high quality products, artisanal ice cream with an ancient recipe with a spectacular flavor, open even in winter, very popular, in addition to the ice cream, there is a sale of coffee cakes, I recommend you won't regret it, also due to the very reasonable and low price

28/11/2024: Calatafimi merita di essere ricordata ed apprezzata non per il mito garibaldino ma per la bravura del giovane chef. Un cuoco che propone primi piatti e secondi, ai quali mi sono "limitato", che ti fanno riconciliare con la cucina e la ristorazione siciliana. Semplicemente bravo, cortese e professionale.

16/12/2024: Suggestive location in the "heart" of Catania baroque, near Piazza Stesicoro. The owner Chiara welcomes you with kindness and professionalism. Excellent dishes with selected and genuine ingredients. The winner is... "Spaghetti alla carbonara"; the spaghetti is perfect for absorbing the creamy sauce, giving it a uniform flavor. The ingredients (pasta, bacon, pecorino romano, eggs, salt and black pepper) are excellent. Excellent quality/price ratio. Mandatory stop if you come to visit Catania.

27/10/2024: We went to this place on recommendation, to have a quick lunch, so without any kind of particular expectations, in reality it turned into a Sunday lunch with a familiar atmosphere and quality of food. Typical dishes cooked very well and of high quality, very courteous and helpful staff, welcoming environment, a special thanks to Mr Gaetano, definitely worth trying again. P.S the top connolo!!!

14/08/2024: Positives: This is a beautiful old hotel with interesting history (Winston Churchill was a former guest) with parking on site. The rooms are reasonable. We were upgraded to a superior room which included a terrace, but our son’s room overlooked the restaurant bins or at least that’s what it looked like. The interior of the hotel reflects its history. Lovely historic and grand feel. Breakfast was included and was excellent. A huge selection of pastries and fruit including tuppo (brioche) and granita which is a traditional Sicilian treat. Whisper quiet location. Negatives: We drove to Siracusa so the location was not an issue but it is a good distance from the old town which is the only reason to visit the city. The car park had no charging facility for EVs (we rented an EV so while relevant to me it won’t be an issue for everyone). Other hotels in our Sicily tour with fewer “stars” have had this. You can be a historic hotel while also embracing modern technology. Much of Siracusa including the old town has electric scooters and EV charging. This hotel feels behind the times for a “recently renovated” hotel. The pool area is lovely but sun beds are in short supply. They simply don’t have enough beds for all the guests. How can a hotel claim to be 4 stars but not cater for all guests. Very poor. When I questioned this they said there was no space. However I noted space for at least 10 additional beds. I don’t expect scramble for sunbeds like some sort of sunbed wars (as the media call it). Also there is a charge for pool towels €5 per towel per day. However the room cost is not cheap and I’d expect this to be included in the price. Again very unusual for a 4 star hotel. WiFi was useless. Air con did not work in my son’s room although this was fixed reasonably swiftly. Not a 4 star hotel for me. History and grandeur don’t automatically equate to 4 stars. Facilities and service are more important. Rated three stars as that’s what it should be.

25/08/2024: I went to the bar to get some ice cream, as soon as I tasted it I immediately realized that it was acidic and I asked for a change of flavour. After choosing the other flavor, the sour ice cream flavor remained there and they didn't even think about removing it. Shameful.

06/08/2024: Nothing different from all the cannoli I can find in any Italian pastry shop. I also asked why there is sheep's ricotta in August (which is actually impossible as it is produced in the winter/spring periods). I was told that their ricotta is only fresh. After a bit of chatting I was told that the milk is frozen so in my opinion it couldn't be defined as fresh! A piece of advice if you want a cannoli made with fresh sheep's ricotta, go there in cold periods!

29/07/2024: La prima affermazione detta quando siamo usciti dal negozio è stata: “che bella persona”. Il signor Roberto (al pari dei suoi figli) è assolutamente l’esempio migliore di come dovrebbe comportarsi un commerciante. Super ospitale, umile e chiacchierone, ci ha fatto assaggiare di tutto e di più dei suoi prodotti gratuitamente, e devo dire che erano tutti spettacolari. Se cercate il classico luogo turistico in cui consumare prodotti mediocri a prezzi elevatissimi, lontani da Roberto: lui ha a cuore la tradizione, la qualità, la bontà ed i prezzi giusti di ciò che vende. Assolutamente da provare se passate per Taormina, a mani basse il migliore.

26/08/2024: Very good restaurant with a varied choice of vegan options. We were well received, the pizzas and desserts were delicious, the decor is relaxing and the restaurant is clean. 10/10

23/08/2024: Superb experience in this restaurant found quite by chance during our stay in Palermo… and what a surprise! The dishes are generous, varied, the vegetarian options are delicious, all this for a very reasonable quality/price ratio! The service is also very professional and friendly. In short, a 10/10! We could come back to Palermo just to taste the other dishes on the menu... congratulations to the chef and his entire team!

27/10/2024: Locale piccolo ed accogliente, titolare e personale cordiale e gentile. Menu molto vario ( forse troppo ) / Ottime le Pinze, troppo lunga l'attesa per la cucina. Il consiglio è quello di organizzarsi meglio...non si può aspettare 1 ora tra l'antipasto ed il secondo piatto. Buona la cantina, Prezzi adeguati.
