22/07/2026: Like the best trattorias, Trattoria del Moro Aronne is found off the beaten path, away from the establishments catering to tourists exclusively. It is worth the short walk up a side street; trust me on this. The trattoria specializes in Tuscan fare - recipes with wild boar, pigeon, and rabbit (though unfortunately rabbit was not available the day we stopped). My wife had Ombrichelli Porcini e Salsiccia - a hearty fresh pasta specific to Tuscany with mushrooms and sausage. I had the Tagliatelle con Cinghiale Ragu - tagliatelle with wild boar ragu. Both dishes exemplified the Italian culinary ethos of letting the ingredients shine - each a distinct entity that melds harmoniously into a symphony of flavor to create a whole that truly is more than the sum of its parts. So, for example, my wife’s mushroom dish was not distinctly mushroom flavored, but the mushrooms added their bit to the overall dish, which would have been lesser without them. The service was warm and attentive without being intrusive. Our waiter - who may well have been one of the owners given the level of service provided - was friendly and accommodating in my desire to practice some of my Italian. Trattoria del Moro Aronne carries on the tradition of the small, Italian gathering place where the breaking of bread around a convivial table is the focus. Grazie Mille!

11/08/2026: We went to Carlo's for lunch. The place is very simple but well-kept, and Carlo was friendly and welcoming. He told us that all the cheeses are his own, and that every dish is prepared by his wife, who runs the kitchen. In addition to what we ordered, he offered us additional cheeses to taste and some desserts. The prices aren't cheap, but considering the portions, they're more than justified! The portions were perhaps too generous, so much so that we couldn't finish everything we ordered (an appetizer to share and a main course each). The only downside is that Carlo is alone in the dining room, and we sat for almost two hours. Not recommended for a quick lunch, but definitely recommended if you want to enjoy good food and a friendly and attentive host!

11/08/2026: A very informal yet welcoming place. Carlo, the owner, and his wife are truly friendly and helpful. The food is excellent, all home-made. The cold cuts and cheese platter is excellent. The homemade bread is good. Prima is good quality.

01/08/2026: We dined at this restaurant during a stop in the Silent Villages and had a wonderful time. The food, service, ambiance, and staff were excellent and of high quality. The attention to food intolerances was also greatly appreciated. Highly recommended.

04/08/2026: We stopped for lunch at the end of the Silent Villages Trail. Superlative quality and perfection in every detail, from the starter to the dessert. We ate umbrichelli pasta with cacio e pepe, guanciale, and exceptional truffle. The meat was carved live, and the ribs were grilled right in front of us. The desserts were also excellent. Very authentic, using local products. Congratulations!

25/07/2026: We visited this restaurant as a group of three adults with two very young children and were truly satisfied: they provided us with a high chair, and the service was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a unique atmosphere, located in a narrow, typical Italian street in Montecchio, almost on the street, with a truly authentic charm. The food was delicious, and the kitchen was very flexible, even preparing a dish suitable for our baby. We recommend booking in advance. It was a quiet, welcoming, and very unique experience.

01/02/2026: We had lunch with our entire football team ⚽ Ponte Vecchio which plays in the Umbria Excellence championship. We ate very well, everything homemade, truly exceptional. 08/07/2026: Especially these days, it's very difficult to combine three generations in a provincial restaurant, but there are those who have succeeded! I've known the place (a trattoria, then a restaurant) since the 1990s. The only common thread is the quality and authenticity of the products on the menu. Once upon a time, a plate of pasta, macaroni, umbrichelle, puff pastry, strictly handmade, flour, eggs, water, a pinch of salt, as per Umbrian tradition. Today, a first course worthy of the name! A second course, a side dish, and so on, including wine, water, a tablecloth (certainly not made of TNT), and everything else needed to ensure the customer enjoys a pleasant moment in life in absolute harmony with the food, all while always pampered by a skilled and professional service aimed at maximizing the exaltation of the culinary art, an art which, not coincidentally, is expressed by a wise woman and a chef who graduated from the Orvieto hotel school with excellent grades.

07/07/2026: Does everything work here? Yes, it's all super! Futuristic cellar! Here you can find niche wines that don't comply with EEC standards, made by courageous winemakers who still dare to dream. This must be given credit to those who manage wine with dedication and passion (increasingly rare today). What about the dishes? Seasonal, high-quality raw materials. Simplicity of flavors served with absolute expertise and hints of creativity... what more could you want in a lunch/dinner? When you get up from the table and ask yourself if you enjoyed it? And you answer yes, you did.

02/08/2026: It had so much potential. Good reviews, lovely atmosphere and warm welcome by the younger bloke.. We so looked forward to the restaurant, the smell was incredible. But as non Italian speakers, it was extremely difficult to understand the spoken menu... my wife speaks French and Spanish and has done a good job picking up a lot of Italian in the last two months, but his accent was very difficult. And he did not accommodate non Italian speakers. Totally ignoring me. We were guided towards pasta, which neither of us wanted.. then mains.. I ended up with two boar dishes. Both okay.. but way too much food. My wife had the rabbit.. pretty much cooked to death and totally lost in all the other ingredients. Then nothing... The plates sat on the table for over an hour, I stacked them to make it easier and give us some room. My wife went to pay.. and waited. She told him that we didn't want dessert as we were too full.. He then came looking down at me and very judgemental asking if I wanted dolci, knowing full well I didn't speak Italian.. and then added 'dessert' after I was struggling with language. By no means was this meal exceptional.. good, but ordinary. Service was rubbish and you had to constantly fish flies out of your food. I'm glad we were early as others waited for a long time for their meals. The owner it seems didn't let his staff help where needed, and insisted on doing it all himself. Then.. As we were camped there for the evening, a large group were also there, who loved sitting around playing music.. sounds nice, until two a.m. and they're at the top of their lungs accompanied with drums just gearing up for the night. The owner seemed to make an economic decision, people do as they wish if they pay enough for the food and alcohol. We were out.. at 2am looking for somewhere else we could sleep. We had looked forward to breakfast and coffee.. but no thank you. I did a loop walk the next morning, and as I expected, the lovely bit of forest is small... and the flies numerous. I'll give it a solid pass. They also wanted to sit us by the busy door, secluded from the lovely forest views. We insisted on sitting out in the open, and glad we did as we watched a marmot walk through as we dined. Potential, spoiled. Everyone matters, or no one matters.

01/07/2026: Beautiful experience!!! 😍 we had two pizzas, which even if they weren't wood-fired, were really good (gorgonzola and pear pizza was special and tasty! 😋). Peach dessert with ice cream, fabulous!!! 🫶🏻 The owner and all the staff were really kind and knowledgeable!! It was a beautiful and super romantic experience!!! 🥰 👏🏻 really well done!!!

16/06/2026: We had 2 meals from and at Charlie Ristorante. 1 - a takeaway pizza that was wonderful and delicious 2 - a sit down meal in the ristorante that was simply spectacular. We’ve been travelling through Italy for nearly a month and this place is one of the best places we’ve dined at. We highly recommended eating here.

08/08/2026: A family atmosphere in the ancient village of Otricoli, a traditional Umbrian menu, and an extraordinary pizza—thin, wood-fired, and richly topped—Eligio is second to none. I recommend everyone try it; you'll definitely be back.
