10/06/2025: Monica is an amazing hostess! She prepared and large table for our group and although she had limited English and we had zero Italian, she made it work and made us laugh throughout the evening. The pasta was delicious and so fresh it was made to order! (Monica even showed us the hand-cranked pasta machine in the kitchen, and talked us through how to make pasta!) I would 100% recommend giving this gorgeous little restaurant a try!!

27/07/2025: Dinner for four, three first courses and one appetizer, water, and a single beer, for a total of €76. Exorbitant. The first courses weren't even good. A €3 cover charge, which doesn't even include bread. The menu has very little choice. There are better.

01/07/2025: The most delicious meal we had in the local area over our 2 weeks. The food was fresh and delicious- the pasta was homemade and cooked to perfection! All the sides were tasty too- couldn’t recommend enough! And a lovely location just inside the old town

25/08/2025: I went for lunch with two people. The place is small, with just a few tables, but it's nice and clean. The menu was good. We had a meat-based appetizer and a first course, tagliatelle with mushrooms, which were very good. Then there were two main courses, grilled chicken and mixed grill, which weren't very good, plus two side dishes, 1/2 liter of house wine, water, coffee, and limoncello. We spent €45 each... not at all in line with prices in the hills... for the same price, you can have lunch near the sea. Plus, the shot of limoncello was €4. I don't think we'll be back, just because of the high price.

01/09/2025: I had the pleasure of trying something truly unique at Umberto Pizzeria Contemporanea in Lucca. Instead of the classic pizza, I opted for their "pane araba" (Arabic bread) and was amazed. This isn't just any bread, but a true creation: a special focaccia, which they call "Padellino" (Little Pad), made with three different starter cultures and three different flours. The texture is a masterpiece of contrasts: soft and light on the inside thanks to the pre-steaming and crispy on the outside thanks to the oven finish. The result is a perfect and surprising balance. To round things off, we shared a delicious cheesecake, deconstructed as seen in the photos. The experience was further enhanced by the splendid location in the piazza, a true landmark in Lucca and home to the famous Lucca Summer Festival. Sitting there, under the trees, enjoying these delights was a true pleasure. An unforgettable culinary experience, which encourages me to return as soon as possible to finally try their pizza. Highly recommended!

10/03/2025: Sono stata recentemente in questo ristorante con un gruppo di amiche e siamo rimaste davvero soddisfatte. Il cibo è eccellente e di qualità. Il locale è accogliente, molto ben arredato, creando un’atmosfera rilassante. Lo staff è molto preparato, professionale e gentile. Un’esperienza che consiglio vivamente e che ripeterò sicuramente!

12/08/2025: Il posto è veramente bello e caratteristico, bello sia nella parte interna che esterna! Il rumore dell acqua fa da sottofondo alle portate. Tordelli eccezionali, molto buono pollo e carciofi fritti!! Il tiramisù super. Posto consigliato. Scoperto per caso su internet mi sono fidata delle recensioni ed ho fatto bene. 04/09/2025: A nice, very hospitable place. The service is good because you don't really miss anything, with kindness and helpfulness. But I'm giving the food 3 stars not so much because it wasn't good but because the value for money is a bit cheesy. It's okay if you charge me a certain amount per kilo for a certain type of meat, but you can't charge me the same amount for a steak of the same meat, including a fillet and a neck area full of fat that needs to be discarded. I repeat, the food is good, but when you come across someone who knows what's on their plate, you're remiss. Other than that, it was a very pleasant evening, so good value for money. Not fair. Once I pointed this out, the owner made amends, even offering a discount.

25/08/2025: Wonderful steak-focused restaurant with a good selection of wine. The proprietor served all the tables when we were there and was so lovely and personable, he made you feel welcome and at home. The tartare and primi were excellent, and we really enjoyed the prussian bistec. The filet portion was best—we would maybe order a filet each next time.
