19/11/2025: I came here for lunch for the first time today with a friend, on the recommendation of a professor, and I have to say it was a great discovery! We had a few slices of pizza (the ones in the photo) and they were truly delicious: light, not very greasy, and very flavorful. The portions are generous, while the place is a bit small, but perfect for a quick lunch. Super friendly staff. I'll gladly go back!

13/12/2025: A disappointing experience despite the positive reviews. It's a small osteria in a hamlet just outside Arezzo. We sat down for lunch; we weren't given a menu; instead, the owner/waiter verbally listed a selection of three or four first courses and four second courses. The quality was average to low, and the fact that everything was served within minutes of ordering suggests it was all precooked. The ravioli with meat sauce were decent, but the rabbit, fried long beforehand and then reheated in the oven, was inedible. Green beans with sauce were served on the side, but they were probably lemon-flavored beforehand. Nearly €60 for a first course, two second courses, two side dishes, two desserts, and a bottle of water wouldn't be too much, but forget about the flavors of Tuscan cuisine.

07/12/2025: A very relaxed evening with friends. We chose this Neapolitan pizzeria in Florence and ordered a trio of fried dishes and a pizza each. Everything was truly delicious, and the staff was extremely friendly. The only thing to note was the price: roughly 10% higher than the average for other pizzerias.

21/11/2025: Disappointing experience for takeaway. I came to Piccolo Cesare because of the strong Google reviews and was looking forward to trying their pizza, but the service was unexpectedly unfriendly. As a foreign visitor who doesn’t speak the local language, I felt unwelcome (and even hostile), as if the staff preferred to serve only locals or dine in customers. It made the entire experience uncomfortable. Maybe good for locals, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to other tourists / anyone visiting from out of town in general looking for a warm or hospitable environment. The pizza dough, texture, and flavours were actually good, but the execution was sloppy. Overall, I would rate the food itself 4 out of 5, but the service and treatment bring the entire experience down to a 2-star visit. Good food should be paired with good service & thoughtful execution; unfortunately that was not the case here.

13/09/2025: Good experience. The variety of meats was satisfying and readily available. I found the service average. The meat was good and cooked appropriately. It's a meat-focused restaurant, a grill, so meat lovers can go there with peace of mind and have a variety of options to choose from. In my opinion, the prices are in line with the products offered; after all, it's fair to pay for quality. I recommend it.

09/12/2025: Let me start by saying that whenever I return to Volterra, I'll return to Antica Taverna to give it 5 stars; a place as beautiful as all Tuscan villages manage to be, nestled in their characteristic and stunning alleys! The vast menu with an incredible number of dishes to choose from becomes a daunting task, and that's when a living encyclopedia of the best local dishes comes to the rescue: the legendary waiter, who describes everything in great detail! We enjoyed delicious appetizers and first courses; my only complaint is the fried zucchini flowers and sage, which should have been my highlight of the lunch, but instead was a slight disappointment due to the greasy batter. The prices are quite high, but quality rarely comes cheap.

07/12/2025: We're from Emilia, so you know, we're very picky about food... that said, we were extremely satisfied with the dinner we had. Everything was truly delicious, plentiful, and made with top-quality ingredients... the waiter was extremely kind, incredibly hospitable, and very knowledgeable in explaining the dishes and providing some historical information about the area. If we return to Volterra, we'll definitely eat at Antica Taverna again.

18/09/2025: An evening with colleagues in a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The chickpea cake, both classic and with onions, was delicious. The pizza was light and made with top-quality ingredients. Laura's cakes are truly special. Excellent value!

26/11/2025: A generous and generous platter accompanied by hot schiacciata. Whole wheat pizzas, both Neapolitan and Tuscan. Delicious Primavera pizza with generous, quality toppings. Delicious desserts. Excellent value for money. Friendly, attentive, and fast staff, very short wait times.

23/09/2025: A wonderful discovery. The pizza is absolutely excellent. A light dough and a huge variety of flavors. I had a Margherita with a crust filled with sausage and stracchino cheese. Spectacular! Excellent service and prices too. Highly recommended.

07/10/2025: A very pleasant restaurant with traditional, high-quality Tuscan specialties. We were there for lunch. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They were always happy to give advice. The atmosphere is clean, authentic, and traditional, just like the food. We had the ham and melon as a starter. The melon tasted fresh even in October, and the ham wasn't too salty, yet it still had a great flavor and was very tender. The Caprese salad had a truly fresh taste. The pappardelle al cinghiale (wild boar) was fantastically delicious. I can absolutely recommend this restaurant. Very friendly service, very good food, a lovely atmosphere, and the price was perfectly reasonable.
