20/07/2025: Let’s start with the positives: the area is beautiful overlooking Lake Orta and the most famous 3 Michelin star in the region. From the moment you park at the designated car park for the restaurant, you will walk through their organic garden where they get all their fruit, veg and herbs. We came for lunch and ate outside which was a real vibe as we took in the view. Even if it rains, most tables are protected by the above trees which created an even more romantic setting. Now the negatives: I thought the food was very average; especially considering the high prices. La Darbia is clearly going for a Michelin star given the service, location and prices but there is a reason they don’t have one in my opinion. We had the tasting menu which is 5 course meal, and tried both the vegetarian and meat options. I thought the pasta course was the best followed by the dessert. The other courses I will forget about by next week, average at best. I will also stress than my partner’s vegetarian menu was better than the meat one. Service was good, staff mostly spoke English. Professional service. Overall: it was an ok meal, an amazing atmosphere but wouldn’t go back.

17/07/2025: Llegamos sin ninguna expectativa específica, ya que no estábamos familiarizados con el lugar, pero nos quedamos completamente impresionados por el personal excepcional, el entorno impresionante, el ambiente cálido y acogedor, y la comida exquisita acompañada de menús de vinos perfectamente maridados con y sin alcohol.

24/08/2025: Lunch with figliogrande, a renowned judge of agnolotti with roast sauce. The place is welcoming, the staff very kind and the cuisine deserves only a "wow"... Samples of appetizers, with the onion tart that borders on the mystical experience, the excellent agnolotti. Since it was a quick lunch we skipped the main courses this time, but I didn't give up the dessert: a peach tart that made me cry on the floor shouting "I don't deserve it!". The experience for me is worth it, but don't think of one of those places that change a menu a week: you go there when you want to eat local dishes, excellently cooked. The cost is more than adequate. I forgot: figliogrande literally polished off two plates of agnolotti...

21/07/2025: We dined at this lovely, intimate restaurant. Small seating for an excellent dinner featuring local dishes. The price is definitely not for everyone, but it's worth it.

23/08/2025: Lovely place, friendly people. The polenta tasting dish was not fresh and disappointing. A pity.

20/08/2025: We stopped at the refuge simply to round off a lovely day of walking, so we had a beer and a dessert. Friendly staff, reasonable prices.

15/08/2025: We had lunch on August 15th at this restaurant, which recently changed ownership. We found a good variety of Sicilian seafood dishes with a more modern twist, both in presentation and flavor. We recognized remarkable quality and attention to detail in preparation and presentation. The price was justified by the quality of the food, in a welcoming, discreet setting, and with attentive, prompt service.

22/06/2025: The octopus was very good and the gnochetti are amazing!

05/09/2025: Super good but a long wait for service. We left without having dessert because the service was much too long.

02/09/2025: Great restaurant with specialties, just steps from major monuments and museums. Very different from the "tourist" restaurants usually found in these areas. We found very good dishes, including pizzas and a variety of excellent arancini. The prices were also reasonable considering the quality of the food. A place to keep in mind 😋

27/08/2025: We were pleasantly surprised by both the elegance of the place and the service. Excellent food, the fresh tomino cheese with orange marmalade was amazing, as was the vitello tonnato. Excellent first and desserts. The price was more than fair, with a tasting menu, a first course, service charge, and coffee for €53. The only downside was that with the tinted glass on the front door, the place seemed closed. If we were to pass by again, we'd gladly pop in. 😉

11/08/2025: A very welcoming little restaurant

16/08/2025: We went with a couple of friends for lunch. The atmosphere was nice, but without air conditioning, it was very hot. The wait for our order and drinks was too long. The food was good, but could have been better presented. A special mention for the cutlet, which was truly delicious: thin, crispy, and perfectly fried.

16/08/2025: Excellent pizza. It was a Monday and very crowded. 30-minute wait. We'll be back.

16/08/2025: Very nice place, and the staff were all incredibly kind. The food was good, but if I may make a personal comment, the cheek with Barolo was I'm not mistaken, but it had a flavor that was too strong (for my taste) and overshadowed the actual flavor of the meat, so I was disappointed. The veal with tuna sauce was spectacular and truly delicious. The meat, on the other hand, was a slice of meat served on a sizzling hot griddle, beautiful to look at and delicious too. I think the tiramisu was one of the best I've had recently. In any case, a highly recommended place. We'll definitely be back, and maybe I'll even try a first course.
