16/11/2025: Restaurant with tasty food, friendly staff and great atmosphere. The pasta was very tasty and at the end we were surprised with a sweet snack on the house. The price in the photo is for 7 people.

09/11/2025: A wonderful experience! We had dinner at this restaurant while we were in Pisa City Center. Let me start by saying that the location is excellent, just a stone's throw from the train station and easily accessible on foot. We ate wonderfully, ordering a first course each and a Florentine steak weighing over 1kg each. The first courses of the day were delicious and plentiful, as was the meat. The service was also excellent; the waiter who served us was extremely helpful and polite. At the end of the dinner, they offered us a homemade amaro and a croissant with cream and Nutella. They also left us a tower full of heart-shaped lollipops and sweets. As if that weren't enough, when we had to pay, the owner (also very kind) gave us a discount on the total (and literally ended up giving us the wine we had ordered). What can I say? One of the best experiences I've ever had. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

06/07/2025: Sono stato in questo ristorante con mia moglie per una cena senza glutine davvero speciale. Menu molto molto interessante e raffinato. Ambiente curato e personale gentilissimo rendono la cena una esperienza molto piacevole. Piatti ricercati e gustosi a dimostrazione che si può fare ristorazione senza glutine senza rinunciare al gusto. Punto di riferimento.

11/05/2025: Abbiamo festeggiato la comunione di nostra figlia a cena in questo ristorante da 10 e lode! Atmosfera intima con tutte le accortezze da parte del personale (preparatissimo)! Antipasti, straccetti al ragout bianco del casentino e filetto di cinta senese da sogno, sapori equilibrati ma allo stesso tempo intensi dell' alta qualità delle materie prime. Abbiamo optato per la torta preparata dalla Chef e che ha montato mentre mangiavamo il secondo piatto...non si poteva fare scelta migliore, è stata davvero la ciliegina che ha fatto concludere una cena degna di nota. Hanno particolare attenzione alle intolleranze, chi ne ha può stare tranquillo, mangia con gli stessi tempi degli altri invitati e, a detta dell' interessato, la qualità è stata notevole! Unico consiglio che mi sento di dare... Continuate così!!

14/03/2026: Perhaps the waitress misunderstood my request. I'll tell you the story: We wanted a platter of bruschetta, cheeses, and anything vegetarian. The waitress brought us two small bruschettas with tomato sauce (two of them) and a cheese plate with no more than six small pieces of cheese, including Grana Padano, Gorgonzola, and Pecorino. We then ordered two glasses of wine by the glass, a bottle of water, and nothing else. Total = €46. It seems really excessive, especially considering it's a Slow Food trattoria and is supposed to be a guarantee of quality but also popular. I left feeling very disappointed and, above all, mocked.

08/03/2026: Wonderful trattoria, not to be missed: beautifully decorated in a rustic style and serving delicious traditional Tuscan dishes. Very friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. My favorite of the ones I tried during my vacation in Florence!! Excellent!

25/02/2026: During my four-day stay in Florence, this was the only restaurant that truly disappointed me, in a city with such a strong culinary scene. While the food wasn't completely bad, the quality was so mediocre it bordered on poor. The chicken breast arrived in small pieces, each one drier and chewier than the last. The truffle sauce was completely bland, very basic and lacking in flavor. The pasta was mediocre and overly salty. Fortunately, we weren't very hungry at the time and didn't order anything else. The ambiance is the only redeeming feature of the place: a quiet, peaceful space with traditional architecture and decor that lend it a certain warmth.

04/03/2026: We are four girls looking for a place to eat. We stopped to look at the menu at this restaurant and were warmly welcomed by the staff. The food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. They even served us heart-shaped pizzas. It was a 10/10 experience that we would definitely do again.

09/12/2025: Beautiful place, very friendly staff. Even though there was an eighteenth-minute charge, the dishes arrived promptly. Everything was really good. First course, second course, shared side dish, dessert, wine, and soft drinks, we spent just under €40 each. Highly recommended.

08/12/2025: My wife, daughter and I ate here last night. We liked the aesthetic of the restaurant. Note: I am an expat but live permanently in Lucca. We wanted to try a restaurant we haven’t been to before and I selected this one based on its proximity and 4.4 rating. However, from the moment we entered the restaurant to the moment we left, was 25 minutes. I ordered the grilled rooster and my wife and daughter ordered a pasta dish and tagliata or slices of steak. The food came surprisingly fast. We were the first customers in the restaurant but even then, we would not have expected the food to come out that quicky. The reason, in my opinion, is that I believe my chicken meal was pre-cooked. It was entirely overcooked and dry to the point of I had to drink water to get bites down. I only ate about half of it. My wife and I talked about the nature of the meal and how it’s possible it was cooked that quickly, and that the only way that it could have been would to have precooked it the day before or earlier in the day, and then reheat it. It tasted like leftovers in my refrigerator. That is not an exaggeration but exactly what it tasted like to me if I had day-old cooked chicken and then reheated it too much in a microwave. If this was fresh chicken put on the grill, I don’t know how it could possibly have been prepared and grilled to such a degree to be nearly inedible in the ten or fewer minutes it took to deliver it to our table after ordering. And at 18 euros for the chicken with potatoes, to be honest, it pissed me off as a rip-off. I was ready to go immediately and we didn’t order dessert. Also, we ordered a bottle of water. My wife and I believe it was just tap water versus a filtered water. The bread was good but not entirely fresh. Overall, the meal was 60 euros which was steep for what we got. Definitely not worth it. I would have rather ate at home or one of my favorite restaurants in the area that would have been a trusted experience.

16/03/2026: A truly stunning and peaceful location. The structure is of the highest quality, immersed in the Tuscan countryside, with a beautiful pool for the summer months and absolute tranquility. Perfect for high-level ceremonies, weddings, confirmations, or communions. High-quality cuisine, both meat and seafood, with intense Mediterranean flavors. Prices are high, but as we know, quality comes at a price. A truly excellent place.

07/03/2026: We miss our stay here from our honeymoon all the time. The best breakfast you could ever think of, amazing wines and olive oil, and beautiful views. A true Italian country experience.

26/01/2026: We had lunch at Trattoria Canuleia during a weekend in Lucca. In addition to the kindness of the entire staff, both during the reservation and during lunch, we had the opportunity to try very good local dishes in generous portions. It will be a must-visit when we return to Lucca :)

17/12/2025: This ended up being my favorite dinner of our entire trip to Tuscany. The staff was incredible and genuinely accommodating. I even called from the U.S. to make our reservation. I tried my best Italian, they met me with their English, and somehow we understood each other perfectly. This is clearly a place the locals adore, and it was evident the moment we walked in. I’m pretty sure we were the only tourists there, which made us love it even more. The menu was surprisingly available in English, though not everything made complete sense but that was part of the charm. Our server did a phenomenal job guiding us through the menu and offering thoughtful recommendations. The pasta dishes were exquisite. My husband decided to be adventurous and ordered a mushroom pasta (despite hating mushrooms) and ended up absolutely loving it. My ravioli with sage was unforgettable. I still think about it. I can’t quite pinpoint what makes Ristorante L’Altana so special. It’s a simple restaurant, nothing overly fancy, yet there was something about the food, the ambiance, and the beauty in its simplicity that made it stand out as the highlight of our trip.
