Clean environment, excellent food, everyone very welcoming and friendly

A lovely place run by a gentleman, and it shows. Tasteful and attentive to detail. The place is simple but well-maintained and spotlessly clean. Excellent food, good selection. Attentive service. Definitely worth a try.

We had a very enjoyable meal. A small, rustic restaurant that cooks and presents food the way it should be. High quality ingredients, well seasoned, and not overcooked. I perhaps should have taken more than one photo, but the reality is, I was far more caught up in eating than documenting.

Everything was very good, even the house wine. The place is small, cozy, and charming. Prices are reasonable. Try the homemade pappardelle with spinach pesto, ricotta, and hazelnuts. Recommended 👍🏻

We had a wonderful weekend in Tuscany, in the province of Lucca. This restaurant offers truly top-notch value. Homemade pasta, delicious. The service was impeccable, the waitresses were a bit so-so, except for the youngest one; the other waitresses seemed annoyed. Compliments for the cuisine.

Great restaurant, the meatballs were delicious, and when you find fresh French fries in a restaurant, not frozen ones, you're at a restaurant where they love to cook. Oh, and don't forget the apple pie 😉 Highly recommended.

Even without a reservation, they welcomed us immediately and with extreme kindness... very nice atmosphere, excellent food...

What can I say? From appetizer to dessert, everything was delicious! The cold cuts with caciotta and truffle bruschetta, and the risotto (pictured) with gorgonzola, pears, and walnuts were simply exquisite. Not to mention the dessert: apple pie with vanilla ice cream, simple yet delicious! We arrived around 2:00 PM, and the waitress asked us to wait 10 minutes while they prepared our table, and so it was: minimal wait and excellent value.

Excellent food, family atmosphere, very fair price. I'll gladly return.

This ended up being my favorite dinner of our entire trip to Tuscany. The staff was incredible and genuinely accommodating. I even called from the U.S. to make our reservation. I tried my best Italian, they met me with their English, and somehow we understood each other perfectly. This is clearly a place the locals adore, and it was evident the moment we walked in. I’m pretty sure we were the only tourists there, which made us love it even more. The menu was surprisingly available in English, though not everything made complete sense but that was part of the charm. Our server did a phenomenal job guiding us through the menu and offering thoughtful recommendations. The pasta dishes were exquisite. My husband decided to be adventurous and ordered a mushroom pasta (despite hating mushrooms) and ended up absolutely loving it. My ravioli with sage was unforgettable. I still think about it. I can’t quite pinpoint what makes Ristorante L’Altana so special. It’s a simple restaurant, nothing overly fancy, yet there was something about the food, the ambiance, and the beauty in its simplicity that made it stand out as the highlight of our trip.
