From appetizer to dessert, chef Donato Calvi expertly crafted his own restaurant concept: contemporary and vibrant, yet respectful of Italian and regional tradition; simple, yet never predictable. The use of ingredients is intelligent and creative, never lapsing into unnecessary flourishes. The welcoming atmosphere, the attentive and professional service, friendly without ever being pretentious, complete the experience. What can I say, if you find yourself in Altamura—or even just in the surrounding area—Calvi restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Recommended: Grilled beef ossobuco, Scottona steak tartare with ginger mayo, Linguine with red shrimp absolute, Brioche with chocolate chips and gelato. 🔝

07/08/2025: I got married at Villa Menelao on August 1, 2025, and I can only say wonderful things about this wonderful place. The food was impeccable, with a fabulous appetizer buffet, raw seafood, assassina, cured meats, smoked fish, delicious first courses, a delicious fish main course, and truly delicious desserts. Impeccable service; half the guests were Spanish and were impressed, with no negative comments. Martino Palmisano, the dining room manager, was my shadow. He made sure everything ran perfectly, had a solution for every request I had and was always ready to help with any needs. I am truly grateful to him for being there. The band led by Vittorio Traversa played divinely; I received compliments from everyone; the singer's voice was superb. The entire dining room staff made the event beyond special. The location was a dream, the event was in the evening, and the decorations created a magical atmosphere; everyone was amazed. Thanks also to the owner, Michele Boccardi, who gave us excellent advice and was personally present at the event to make sure everything went smoothly. Thanks also to Ilaria and Luana, who planned everything down to the smallest detail and made it more than special. Thanks to all the staff ❤️ P.S.: I wish all husbands were like Martino. You're welcome to be our guest whenever you want, so I can teach my husband a little lesson 😂❤️ P.S.: The next day, when I came back to the dining room, I said it was a shame I didn't get to try the desserts (even though we always had a table full of every dish), and they let me go home with a tray full of desserts to feed an army. 11/10/2025: Don’t dismiss the restaurant because of its prime location. It is a warm family run place. All the dishes were perfect, the service was even better.

19/10/2025: We are staying not far from Donna Maria and were looking for something nice for dinner. We found just what we were looking for. The bread seems to be a house made loaf which is a pleasant change from some who just drop some rando bread in a basket on the table. This bread is good quality. We began with beef carppacio which was delicious, especially the olive paste which provided a natural salty component. My wife had gnocchi with lamb ragu and I enjoyed the mezzi ziti with a rich beef sauce. Both just wonderful dishes. Especially with Negroamaro to pair with. We finished with a Crema di ricotta pugliese dessert that's a regional favorite. It was a wonderful meal and the staff were professional and friendly.

29/07/2025: Abbiamo cenato 2 volte in 10 GG di vacanza con amici. Location meravigliosa, accoglienza meravigliosa, personale meraviglioso, chef meraviglioso. Oltre la cena, è stato bello parlare con lo staff. Grazie a Teresa, mi pare che si chiami.. e grazie al ragazzo con gli occhiali che ci ha servito. Abbiamo voluto conoscere lo chef per parlarci del segreto del suo sugo con le orecchiette. Strepitoso. Da pugliese, un piatto semplice ma eccellente non lo avevo mai assaggiato. La semplicità e gli ingredienti di qualità hanno fatto di un piatto orecchiette al pomodoro, una esperienza. Per non parlarne dello spiedino di cozze Gratinate..con le verdure fresche. Mi fermo qui. La panna cotta? No vabbè. Non sono mai stato in un ristorante stellato e voglio dedicare le mie 5 stelle a x food.

02/09/2025: We had dinner last night at this cozy, rustic pizzeria in San Ferdinando... what can I say... the friendliness and kindness of the service and the owners made us feel at ease; the food was excellent... everything delicious... from the pizzas to the octopus salads, to the fried calamari... the homemade panzerotti... in short, we will definitely be back... thanks La Bruschetta

16/09/2025: Went to this small Enoteca with my girlfriend a couple of nights ago. We had some great glasses of wine exactly to our taste. We were also served a little platter of snacks, some olives, some nice Tarallini and (my personal highlight) some amazing Provola. The wine, the cheese, amazing. We wish we could have come back again but sadly I can only recommend this place for others. Also very fair prices.
