The owners welcome you with warmth and attention, making you feel like a guest before you are a customer. We tasted magnificent pici with tuna, excellent black spaghetti with shrimp and asparagus, surprising sea urchins with truffle and quail eggs, and delicious squid with artichokes: carefully crafted, balanced, and flavorful dishes that showcase excellent ingredients. It's a true restaurant, where you can sense the passion for this craft. The bill is absolutely fair and fully justified by the quality of the ingredients, the sourcing of local products, and the overall experience it offers.

I'm a big fan of neighborhood pizzerias, those that have remained simple and authentic (I'm not interested in gourmet pizzerias; pizza that's too messy or elaborate is no longer pizza). I always have a good time here; even when it's crowded, I don't wait too long; the staff is friendly and welcoming. Long live simple, properly made pizza!

26/05/2026: We ordered pizza delivery. It arrived on time, warm, and intact. The dough is made with semolina (I think) and it thickens in the center. The crusts were thick, and the toppings were sparse on one pizza (mozzarella). It wasn't one of our favorites. But the ingredients were quality. We contacted the restaurant to ask about allergens, and they were very helpful.

16/04/2026: Today for lunch, I decided to try Trattoria Al Solito Posto, intrigued by the numerous positive reviews I'd read online. I can happily confirm that every compliment was absolutely deserved. Even though it was already past 2:30 PM, the place was still packed with customers, and the comings and goings showed no signs of slowing down: a clear sign of this place's popularity. The staff immediately proved efficient, professional, and extremely courteous, making me feel welcomed despite the rush hour. I opted for a full lunch and was thrilled: the quality of the ingredients is unquestionable, and the preparation of the dishes is excellent, further enhanced by the meticulously designed table setting. Topping it all off was the owner's exquisite kindness, who, with a thoughtful gesture, offered me two coffees at the end of the meal. It's precisely this care for the guest that distinguishes a true restaurateur. An impeccable experience that I highly recommend!

04/05/2026: My husband, our two children, and I dined at this restaurant last night after a busy day spent walking among the Sassi of Matera. We were greeted by kind and attentive staff, with prompt service. The pizza was excellent, the fries were special, and the "sausage of the beggar" was delicious. My husband and I ordered it first, followed by a portion of Van Gogh bruschetta—exceptional! The owner, Bartolomeo, was exceptionally kind, making us feel at home and pampered. Before leaving, I confided in him about my passion for Vincent Van Gogh. He accompanied me into the dining room, which, surprisingly, was decorated with wonderful reproductions of Van Gogh's paintings. He proudly told me about them and showed me the wines, which bear artistic labels. What more can I say?! Between the deliciousness of the dishes, the beauty of the setting, and the owner's extraordinary kindness, it was an experience that left us with a wonderful feeling of well-being! If we ever return to Matera, we'll definitely eat here, with the pleasure of greeting Bartolomeo and savoring more of his delicacies!!!! Ps: fair prices and generous portions.

17/05/2026: Compared to all the high reviews we were abit disappointed. Maybe just ordered the wrong things? We had the gnocchi sorrentina which was ok - lots of cheese and the cotoletta which the batter was pretty burnt and dry. Staff were disinterested so didn't bother ordering anything else.

26/04/2026: La Locomotiva is a restaurant that offers carefully prepared, high-quality dishes, from meat and fish to Roman pinsa. I was very impressed with the quality of the service; the waiter who served us was professional, kind, and always willing to accommodate our needs. The setting is well-maintained, and what we really appreciated was the atmosphere, which allows us to chat without the hustle and bustle that can be found in many restaurants, especially on Saturday evenings. The tables are well-spaced, and compared to a few years ago, the quality has certainly improved. It's worth noting how the chili pepper was served; small details can tell a lot. I hope to always find it this way.
