29/03/2026: Unfortunately, the service, and especially the billing, left much to be desired. The crème brûlée was served with a shot of liquor that had been poured over the sugar and then ignited. Since the crème brûlée tasted of liquor as a result, we pointed this out, and the dessert was taken back. We were offered an alternative instead. So far, so good. However, when it came time to pay, both the new dessert and the crème brûlée were charged. After we pointed this out, we were told that this was the standard way to make crème brûlée and that we would have to pay if we were unaware of this and stopped the igniting process. It was very disappointing how indifferently this was handled. When we explained the standard procedure to the waiter, he felt attacked and became rude.

17/03/2026: Lovely bar in Santa Caterina, the gelato is great value (get the 7,50€ 0,5 litre tub!) and the atmosphere is great after a days skiing. They have pool and darts.

28/08/2025: We returned at the end of August 2025, returning from a hike to Alpe Armisola, and took the opportunity to stop for lunch, where we enjoyed an excellent pork shank with potatoes. Kudos to the kind and helpful staff and to the new management, which has revitalized the attraction of visiting this beautiful mountain area.

12/12/2025: I entered and, after greeting them and getting no response, I waited over five minutes while one of the managers was chatting with two customers and the other was setting up the counter. Afraid they hadn't heard me—but I don't think so, because the customer had spoken to me first, so it was obvious I was there—I coughed again, hoping to attract attention. That didn't happen, so assuming they didn't want to serve me, I left, and no one asked if I needed anything. A truly awful and squalid experience. Definitely not to be repeated.

09/03/2026: Pancake prepared outside. It wasn't bad, a good pancake :) However, it's annoying when you have to pay inside first and then go outside again. But that's in most restaurants that have such separate "food" :) ... There was just no room outside, I had to take it with me.

09/03/2026: A homey restaurant on the main road leading into Madesimo, with a very mountain-style interior, featuring large wood paneling, authentic dishes, and honest flavors. Try the pizzoccheri, as well as the polenta with various toppings. The mushrooms 🍄 and sausage are very good. Prices are commensurate with the quality.

08/03/2026: Typical restaurant in Aprica: excellent cured meats and cheeses, delicious polenta with mushrooms and venison stew. Traditional and comfortable atmosphere, prompt and friendly service, good value for money.

29/03/2026: I tried the bar, not the B&B: I had a sandwich, which was good, but I didn't understand why the bill was €13 with a bottle of water. They charged those who ordered the sandwich €2 more. It's called a "cover charge." In total, it was €6 more for three sandwiches. No comment.
