04/06/2026: My wife, my two children, and I had dinner at Santopalato on a Monday evening. The welcome was both unusual and honest: before seating us, they invited us to read the menu to make sure their offerings would meet our tastes. A perfect choice that immediately made it clear that this isn't just a "normal" restaurant, but a place with a strong identity. The setting appears simple at first glance, but it's actually meticulously crafted, extremely clean, and tidy. The real showpiece, however, is the kitchen: entirely visible and positioned right in the middle of the room. This element draws you into the experience even before you begin eating. We were on a true journey of flavors. We started with a fresh appetizer of monk's beard and raw tuna, accompanied by a local salami that was nothing short of stellar. But it's the meats that really show off the restaurant: we sampled a delicious, buttery tongue, an exceptional asado, and a textbook pork belly, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. To drink, in addition to water, we paired our meal with an excellent bottle from the local Montelio winery (€25). To round things off, the desserts (strictly made by the chef and of incredible quality): a panna cotta with berry jam and a phenomenal tiramisu, served tableside with hot coffee poured over it. The service was top-notch. The chef himself served us and explained each course, engaging us and even showing my daughter the steps of the preparation behind the stove. His attention and passion truly make the difference. The final bill was €168 for four. After including the bottle of wine, the food came to around €35 ​​per person. The quality-price ratio is perfectly in line with the excellence of the ingredients, the meticulous preparation, and the generous portions (we left the table feeling quite full). Highly recommended for those looking for more than just a meal, but a true experience.

25/04/2026: We were there today, April 25, 2026, 5 of us had an appetizer, a first course, meat, and pizza! Everything was really good! The portions are generous! The staff and owner are very kind, excellent service! Prices are reasonable for the quality! I recommend it!

04/05/2026: We had lunch at Locanda Merlino this weekend and were truly impressed. Despite the short notice, we were greeted with great hospitality and served with extreme kindness. The homemade pasta was excellent. A must-try! Thanks again for everything, we'll be back!

20/04/2026: I've been frequenting Locanda Merlino for a few years now with a large group of friends. After visiting a winery in the Oltrepò Pavese, it's a great place to refuel with local cuisine. I had lunch with a very extensive menu that included several appetizers, cured meats, fried gnocco, cheeses, crostini, and Russian salad; two first courses: bigoli with white ragù and Pisarei e fasò (a typical Piacenza dish); two second courses: pork tenderloin with fig and potato sauce and roast beef with extra virgin olive oil; a dessert of your choice from the options, coffee, amaro, and the inn's own wine. Personally, I really enjoyed the first courses... phenomenal. The value for money is excellent, to say the least. The restaurant has a few parking spaces on site, but you can also leave your car in a parking lot belonging to a company just a minute's walk away. You can dine both inside and on the outdoor porch, and it's worth it, especially during the summer months.

10/05/2026: Centrally located restaurant: very good pizza, meat, panpizza, and other dishes (burgers, fajitas), many brands of beer. Friendly and fast staff. Always busy, so reservations are recommended. PS: Lately, it's been filling up with very loud groups of people talking, or rather, shouting. Reasonable price.

08/04/2026: Great place with friendly service and excellent pizza menu. We had 3 pizzas, wine and a tiramisu and it came to €53, and the dog got a bit of sausage. Some of the best pizzas in Vigevano, we will be back.

13/06/2026: If you wanna start your day with a good coffee and a smile, this is the place to go in Pavia. There is a nice inside area and outdoor terrace with a view on piazza, great for morning coffee or afternoon apperetivo. The hosts are always welcoming and there is always somebody with whom you can chitchat or from whom you can learn Italian words or get some tips what to do on a weekend 💫

01/03/2026: Very polite and courteous staff. Dinner for 8 people at a very low price. I'm vegan, so many vegan options. Excellent! We returned today for a birthday, and I must say everything is always impeccable. Always with an all-you-can-eat menu, they have a vast selection of sashimi and tartar. The menu is intuitive, and the dishes are well-presented and plentiful. Of all the restaurants in Vigevano, this remains, in my opinion, the best in the area.

25/04/2026: Very nice, I ordered 2 kebab sandwiches and drinks etc. for a total of €20.50 the food was delicious but not 5 stars the service was fantastic and the atmosphere was beautiful the price was not the best but it's ok

27/04/2026: I visited this place for lunch and had a very positive experience. ​The welcome was excellent: the staff is fun and friendly, putting guests at ease from the moment they arrive. A significant added bonus is the availability of a children's menu, a detail that makes the place perfect for families. My review is based on the appetizers, pizzas, and desserts (I should point out that I didn't try the first courses, so I can't judge the pasta). Personally, I started with a pasta frittata, very flavorful and carefully presented. The potato croquettes were also truly excellent, made to perfection. ​All the pizzas at the table looked inviting and tasted excellent. ​I chose a fried pizza and was impressed: it was very tasty and, above all, not at all greasy. One of the best fried foods I've ever tasted. ​To finish, I tried the pastiera. I was pleased to note that the orange flavor was intense and well-presented, just as tradition dictates (and that's by no means a given). I was unfortunately unlucky with the "caprese," which I've always eaten cold; it was piping hot and even a little burnt, but it's still highly recommended.
