She replied that they were simply smiling at them, but that wasn't what I perceived at all: I felt like I was being laughed at from behind. Instead of listening to my comment with respect, I was told, "If you want to cause trouble, then leave the restaurant." I find it unacceptable to be treated this way simply for expressing concern.
