06/04/2026: We went to Il Pescatore yesterday for Easter, the second time. The menu was excellent, the same as last year. The private dining room was beautiful, overlooking the garden, and the ambiance was modern and colorful. The price on the menu for all guests was a bit tacky, and the service we received, which as regulars we expected to be different, was disappointing. We received a €20 discount on the €3,120 menu.
28/02/2026: A short story, rather than a review, would be more appropriate to fully convey the experience at this restaurant monument. Indeed, we are dealing with one of the few families—not individuals, but families—who have written the rules of this profession. All this allure leads you to approach us with such respect and curiosity, but also with truly high expectations. Let's clear up any doubts right away: the day was stratospheric. From every perspective. The dishes we savored will certainly be remembered forever, but how could we ever forget the precious time spent talking with Antonio Santini, who honored us with several minutes at the table? For those like me and my friend who love restaurants, it's a bit like a football fan juggling with Maradona. Priceless. The conversation about pumpkin tortelli was memorable, when my companion asked for a sweeter version. With great elegance, the owner explained that the customer shouldn't be a guinea pig in an experiment, but rather recounted the historical evolution of the dish in his family. Then came the masterstroke: from the kitchen came a historic tomato variation, served alongside a classic tortello. The dish was offered. Moving. The service was superb, among the best I've ever seen. The entire staff was commendable, and sommelier Alberto Santin was excellent, recommending a Barbaresco Martinenga 2020 from Marchesi di Grésy, versatile and perfect for the entire meal. I started with the Petit Gris Chiocciole della Pianura with a herb and sweet garlic sauce: elegance, balance, and an irresistible light gratin. Then came the traditional Pumpkin Tortelli with Butter and Parmigiano Reggiano, with amaretti biscuits and mustard. Here, the aim is not to tone down the contrasts, but to enhance them: sweet, savory, and spicy coexist in perfect harmony. Only for the best. For my second course, I chose grilled eel with radicchio from the garden: a dish that speaks to the family's history. The owner summed it up perfectly with one word: ESSENTIALITY. The noble fat of the fish was the star, balanced by the sweet and sour radicchio. Exciting. I finished with the saddle of venison with Cabernet and blueberries, incredibly tender, accompanied by excellent vegetables, especially baby carrots. The final small pastry was followed by a Marsala zabaglione, offered by the owner. We concluded with a 2020 Beerenauslese Cuvée from Kracher, made from botrytized grapes. Thus ended our wonderful experience at Santini's Dal Pescatore. A day that will remain etched in our memories.

21/03/2026: What an absolutely incredible experience at Ristorante L'Ambasciata - about 50 mins away from Modena, we were recommended this hidden gem by a friend of ours - incredible decor and atmosphere, and Mirco and his team took incredible care of us. We had their signature lobster and bean soup for entree, shared an amazing shellfish bisque risotto w/ red prawns, and then the whole duck for main - wonderful experience and highly, highly recommend. We are already arranging to return with a group of friends.

19/04/2026: This is the second time we've had lunch at this restaurant, and I must confirm the same quality, kindness, and pleasantness as the first time.
19/04/2026: I don't know what to say. The staff were incredibly friendly, the dishes were exquisite, the food was clean, and the selection was excellent. In short, going there only once definitely leaves a lasting impression. I ate: the snails, which I enjoyed, despite being reluctant to try the main ingredient; the French onion soup (the best dish in the world, executed masterfully); the beef in olive oil (to rival the best restaurants in Brescia); and the express tiramisu (controversial note: the cheesecake I wanted wasn't there!). Everything was excellent. I'll be back specifically for the trio of first courses, which should be their signature dish. I recommend everyone try it.

11/01/2026: Absolutely the best fish I've ever eaten. I can say without hesitation that, to date, it's the best seafood restaurant I've ever been to. I had a raw appetizer and a cooked appetizer: it's unusual to order two appetizers, but I was really unsure which one to choose, so I ended up ordering both. The result? I left feeling really full, as if I'd eaten many more dishes, and the quality was top notch. The price, by the way, was absolutely fair, not at all excessive for what they offer. I couldn't find a single flaw: impeccable service, attentive and friendly staff, a very nice, welcoming place with a warm and pleasant atmosphere. I can't wait to return, and even though it's quite far from my home, I'd gladly travel all those miles again just to eat their fish again. It's definitely worth it. Reservations are highly recommended.

I highly recommend this restaurant as it's close to the city of Mantua, yet it's surrounded by a very relaxing natural setting. Farm animals are also on the website. I promise to go again. Well done!

A wide selection of hot and cold dishes. In our case, the baked turkey, mushrooms, and carrot, potato, and spinach fritters were excellent. Cost: €12 (drinks not included). Reservations required. Quick service, limited tables, and a friendly, family-run business.

21/11/2025: A very charming and intimate place, the welcome and service were friendly and impeccable. Each dish was an experience of well-combined flavors and attention to detail. And let's be clear, this is the word of a meat lover who, to find a restaurant suited to his partner's diet, drives an hour and leaves almost more eager to return than she does. Everything was delicious. Special mention for the bread; I could have eaten 10 kilos of it. Which speaks volumes about the care these guys put into every aspect. We will absolutely be back. Highly recommended.

10/04/2026: Excellent 5-course menu. A very original tiramisu of potato and cod mousse, tataki, ricciola tartare, spaghetti nero with scallops. Dessert: hazelnut semifreddo and caramel fondant. Accompanied by a 100% Pinot Meunier sparkling wine from a small producer. Very generous portions. We highly recommend it.

22/03/2026: An experience. Culinary and more. A true osteria, where the host and the chef are NOT the same person. Like any great team, the result is achieved together, each doing their part and allowing the other to do the same, with mutual respect and trust. The chef is known through dishes built on excellent ingredients (with an abundance of Slow Food Presidia) and a great attention to translation, reinterpretation, and enjoyment. Because if you don't enjoy yourself, why bother eating out?! The host is incredibly knowledgeable about beers, wines, and cheeses. Don't be afraid to ask for advice and explanations; instead, be willing to take the time to listen, because when passion, expertise, and an innate charm come together, you can't do anything else :) Finally, the prices are absolutely reasonable. And there's also the possibility of finding solutions that are definitely affordable for everyone... You can't always have two courses with a cheese cart and dessert! Although here it would be worth it...
10/03/2026: High-quality products... cooked well and with so much passion. The fried gnocchi are exquisite...the stracotto and pumpkin-filled tortelli in three variations are also highly recommended...exceptional. We concluded the dinner with a selection of cheeses and mustards, all accompanied by a wonderful Giuseppe (the manager)...everyone's cousin (when you pay)....good expireance.
