25/12/2025: We ordered three Christmas fish menus for €50. The scallops were a terrible gratin, the cod was good, but the polenta was too hard and flavorless. The lobster main course was flavorless, and you couldn't even see the lobster on the plate. The sea bream was unsalted, and the mixture was tough. The vegetables were well-cooked, but lacked salt. There wasn't even a cruet of oil at the table. The dessert was good. I paid €175, but it was the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at. The establishment was very well-kept, clean, and welcoming.

15/01/2026: Excellent menu and great wines. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. A wonderful hotel and restaurant in a beautiful location. The Schreckbichl winery, with its superb wines, is also nearby.

17/11/2025: We only had a beer in the lounge; the service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. The hotel and restaurant close for the winter on November 1st and won't reopen until April.

26/02/2026: What a disgrace. Poor-value furnishings, a jumble of objects and fabrics from one-euro Chinese shops, and you can already tell from that. But now I move on to the food, which is decidedly mediocre, e.g. the fish... reading the previous reviews, it seemed like it should be fresh, but in reality it was fresh from the freezer, and the food and service were extremely disappointing... A place that if you know it, you avoid!! My tablecloth was dirty and full of crumbs left by the previous customer. The pizzeria is closed at noon, but that's not written anywhere, so I decided to try something from the kitchen. Octopus salad (it looked like rubber) and potatoes. Grilled cuttlefish, scampi (once opened, the meat stuck to the shell and I couldn't even remove it with my teeth), and grilled vegetables (the only edible thing on the plate), even though the eggplant had been pre-cooked for more than a few hours. Fried fish was extremely greasy, frozen fish... Prices? On par with other restaurants, which are clearly better... and I mean all of them... I don't remember ever eating so badly in my entire life.... And I repeat, the atmosphere is dirty... Even the desserts were a bit old... When you leave the "restaurant" your clothes and jackets smell like a fried food shop... Never again... But above all, the positive reviews I read led me to choose this place... but whoever wrote them... should be ashamed... they're all false!!

18/02/2026: I ordered pizzas for Valentine's Day. The owner was very accommodating, accommodating my special request for heart-shaped pizzas. As always, everything was delicious. I've previously enjoyed the seafood pasta, which I highly recommend.

04/03/2026: Really great pizzeria, the ravioli was ok. Not a bad walk from the nearby village. We had to book as our group was large but they handled splitting the bill well.

12/02/2026: Unfortunately, I can't give more than two stars. I'm sorry. I struggle with leaving negative reviews. But honestly, there's a level of quality missing here that's taken for granted in any restaurant these days... or even in any bar, trattoria, or inn. I think the owners are trying hard, but perhaps pizza isn't a tradition in their hometown. Nor is Alpine food. I don't know how they manage to keep running costs low with so few people (rightfully so) on a Saturday night. I was misled by many incomprehensible, very positive reviews. What a shame.

02/02/2026: Stayed here in Jan, 26 for our family ski vacation in Dolomites. The hotel was not fully booked and being not too busy was a privilege, all stuff: reception, bar & servers were extremely helpful and attentive, which made our stay pleasant. Our apartment was huge, clean and comfortable, just the pillow were too thin, but I guess that's a preference. Breakfast can be richer in terms of variety and if the pool was warmer during our stay we could have used it. Overall we're happy and thankful to the whole team for their hospitality. Family's tip: the kids club is big enough to entertain 2 small children - our were 1 and 4 at the time of visit and they spend a lot of time there.

06/01/2026: I stopped at this restaurant for a business dinner and the experience was truly excellent. I ate truly well, with carefully prepared, high-quality dishes. Special praise goes to the owner Gerardo and his sister Deborah, who are friendly, attentive, and professional, and who know how to put guests at ease. The service is beyond excellent, attentive but never intrusive. The wine selection is also excellent, well-thought out and able to satisfy a wide range of tastes. A place I recommend without hesitation, whether for business or pleasure. I will definitely be back.

25/10/2025: This is my second year coming here. I always look forward to it opening. The location has been renovated, is very beautiful and welcoming. The ice cream is always fresh and very good. The ice cream sundaes are generous and very good. I recommend it if you're in Tirolo.

07/01/2026: We have stayed at Hotel Pinei for three consecutive years. Our first stay was truly excellent — spotless rooms, great service, and very good food. Unfortunately, the overall experience has declined significantly since then. During our second stay, we had an unpleasant incident in the spa area, where we were aggressively asked to leave a “naked zone.” While we understood that we may have entered the area without knowing the rules, the attitude of the staff member was unnecessarily violent and communicated only in German, which we do not speak. We decided to overlook the incident, but after returning home we realized that an item we had forgotten in the room was never returned — most likely taken by the cleaning staff. This year, we chose to return again mainly because of the hotel’s quiet location and spacious, beautiful rooms, despite the rather rigid attitude at reception. Unfortunately, our experience was worse than ever. Our whole family developed a severe gastroenteritis. At first we thought it might be unrelated to the hotel, but after speaking with several other guests we discovered that many families were in the same situation, sick and stuck in their rooms for days. We reported this to the hotel and were told it was a “seasonal virus,” but they also admitted that some members of the staff were sick — and still working. We even saw ambulances and guests vomiting in front of the hotel. In a property with such a high flow of guests, the first and most basic safety measure should be to send sick staff home, not allow them to handle food, dishes, or clean rooms. To make matters worse, when checking out we discovered that we were charged €2 for every cup of hot water we requested to prepare our own tea while we were ill — water heated from the tap using the coffee machine. Since all three of us were sick, we ended up paying several times for something that should have been a simple act of care and support from the hotel. We understand that incidents can happen in busy tourist seasons, but hygiene and guest safety must come first. Unfortunately, this year’s experience was extremely disappointing, and we can no longer recommend Hotel Pinei.

09/03/2026: You arrive and have to walk straight through the smoking area to get inside. Not very pleasant, especially with children. We were shown to a table in a cramped corner, where we had to wait a very long time for our order. The restaurant is a bit dated, but the service was very friendly. However, when the food finally arrived after an hour, we were very disappointed. We ordered Wiener Schnitzel with fries and a schnitzel with pepper sauce. The Wiener Schnitzel was very thick, and the breading tasted like old oil. The schnitzel was okay; the sauce came from a carton, so you can't really go wrong with that. Everything was pretty much under-salted, and salt was being passed from one table to another as everyone needed to add more. Many people, especially from Eastern Europe, came for the large pork knuckle. Perhaps recommended for construction workers, but not for a family outing in Kaltern.

28/09/2025: Best food on the way south. Exceptional value for money. Don't be intimidated by the hundreds of trucks! Top!!! Breakfast espresso and fresh croissants are amazing!!!

17/01/2026: A dream location run by a very welcoming and warm couple who are happy to accommodate any request. The food is exquisite and the rooms are very well-equipped. The location is exceptional, nestled in the heart of the largest alpine pasture in Europe. Directly on the slopes, it feels like stepping back in time in the evening when the lifts stop running. We've already booked our next stay. I highly recommend it for a relaxing and successful holiday.

25/01/2026: I've been staying at the Cavallino for many years. It has changed hands several times, all characterized by professionalism and customer service. The hotel is not in the city center; it's just off the highway and opposite the Maia Bassa station. The city center is a 15-minute walk away or by the frequent buses that pass near the hotel. Public transportation tickets (for all of South Tyrol) are included in the stay. Good restaurant. Paid covered parking is available, or alternatively, there are large, free, and secure public parking spaces. I'll be back again. Fabrizio Sala
