18/08/2024: Sorci Castle: “glam” location in the Anghiara countryside With over a thousand years of history, Sorci Castle is a splendid location in the Anghiari countryside that mixes tradition and innovation. The Locanda, born from the happy intuition of Primetto Barelli, offers typical dishes of local cuisine such as typical appetizers, fettuccine with ragù, bringoli with roasted fake sauce and dessert with vin santo, all brought to the table with great abundance and simplicity of service. The Castle is a place of the heart, ideal for the reception of a wedding or an event. A dive into the Middle Ages with the comforts of today! I have known the Barelli family for years and I could not have done without the Locanda for my wedding reception. An entire castle at your disposal doesn't happen every day! Built around 1000, the Sorci Castle was a place of contention and resistance during the Late Middle Ages and the period of the Lordships; destroyed and rebuilt several times, it became the home of the famous Captain of Fortune Baldaccio d'Anghiari, who perhaps aspired to spend his last years of life there in peace and, instead, was barbarously killed in an ambush. Hero of his time, man of arms capable of ruthless acts but also of proof of great generosity, the valiant captain is at the center of the novel "Baldaccio d'Anghiari, most excellent man of arms", a historical essay with a journalistic approach from reportage, in which the author Carlo Brizzi masterfully leads the reader into the world of captains of fortune. A novel that was presented precisely in Sorci about twenty years ago, by virtue of the friendship and esteem between the author and the lord of the Castle, Primetto Barelli. Thanks to his marketing skills, Primetto had transformed his love for history and the Castle into a propaganda reason for his offer. Thus the dinner with the ghost was born, on the occasion of the anniversary of Baldaccio's killing, waiting at the table for the possible arrival of the ghost with his head, which had been severed, under his arm. Primetto's baton has been successfully taken up by his three sons who today carry on his "mission" with passion and enthusiasm.

13/08/2024: The historic restaurant is located in one of the service rooms of the Sorci castle: the place is very beautiful. The food was decent with positive highlights for grilled meat and enough for pasta with cheese and pepper. Very friendly staff, fast service

01/08/2024: Mangiare alla Trattoria La grotta Parti è come mangiare a casa!!! Il menù, tutto scritto rigorosamente in fiorentino puro, parla di famiglia, di tradizioni, di semplicità e profumi che solo una cucina casalinga può regalare. In cucina ci lavora la storia e a servire ci sono il presente e il futuro. Se vuoi pranzare veloce e bene è il posto giusto, se vuoi trascorre un po’ di tempo a tavola con amici ridendo e scherzando è il posto giusto. Il caffè non si paga…e ti sembra poco ?? I prezzi sono talmente simpatici che a volte non sembrano veri.!! Una sosta solo a pranzo che ti aggiusta l’intera giornata. Provare e poi crederci

15/07/2024: Vera e propria trattoria toscana abito a Firenze e non sapevo di questo rist passandoci molte volte abbiamo deciso di pranzare un venerdì devo dire personale gentilissimo e prezzi davvero alla buona mangiare veramente buono come essere a casa dalla nonna non da provare

08/08/2024: Nice atmosphere, with a few tables and quite intimate. Unfortunately, however, we waited an hour for our dishes, which were good but personally nothing special. The menu quite limited.

07/07/2024: We came across it by chance after a walk in the town and ate very well, nice place and there is also outdoor seating, the only flaw is the prices are a little higher than other parts, but given the area they are within the norm with other places in the Val d'Orcia, personally kind and welcoming, still worth a stop.

20/08/2024: Food is ordinary ,I had carbonara di mare, which is definitely not the real carbonara, no eggs, and no bacon at all . It was just an ordinary spaghetti with 3 mussels. Service ,the owner wasn't friendly at all except for the waiters.we waited for sooooo long for every plate. Atmosphere, very ordinary.

31/08/2024: Welcomed by a very nice and friendly waitress, we liked the place right away. The food was excellent, the prices are a bit higher than we used too in the area, but it was expected. All the staff was pleasant and ready to help. We liked it here.

17/08/2024: We had lunch at this restaurant during a visit to Buonconvento. Good food including a super peposo!!

11/08/2024: We stopped for lunch on Sunday, the restaurant, which has nice furnishings and is located in the beautiful village of Bounconvento, was empty. We took two appetizers, one of cured meats and one of cheeses, the first was discreet (the coppa was very good), while the second had cheap cheeses, without a soul, they seemed to me to be from the supermarket (the honey served as an accompaniment was saved). We then had 4 first courses: pappardelle with wild boar, the pappardelle was good, cooked well and pulled just right, but we found the wild boar sauce really bad, slightly sour and dry, the wild boar was not noticeable, the juniper notes were good, but overall not recommended dish; the paccheri with ragù were without art or part; I liked the cherry tomato and rocket ravioli. The lasagna is a real pain point: in addition to the genuinely small portion, it seemed frozen to us. The béchamel was very white and foamy like the ones you find in frozen lasagna, it was presented inside a crock covered with house ragù (clearly different from what was inside the lasagna), in such a way as not to show the product layers. I understand that lasagna is not a typical Tuscan dish and that having entered Italian culture perhaps it is a dish put there for tourists, who perhaps do not understand these nuances well, but as paying customers they deserve at least a dish that is not frozen. Another strange note: the water (€2 per bottle) is filled in a homemade glass bottle. I think that if I have to pay for the bottle of water, as I should, I should be served a bottle with a brand and not a refill from tap water. The service was attentive and fast.

28/08/2024: Ritornato a cenare in questo locale, dopo esserci stati la prima volta pochi anni fa: il buon ricordo è stato confermato. Vengono proposti piatti tipici della zona, dove in particolare i pici ed i tortelli svettano (fatti a mano). Altra specialità del locale e la carne, che viene cotta alla griglia. Nel fuori menù, degni di nota i fiori di zucca ripieni di ricotta (che fortunatamente ho avuto modo di trovare anche stavolta). Oltre a qualche vino di etichetta, viene proposto anche un vino di loro produzione (a mio avviso degno di essere provato). Dolci della tradizione italiana, anche quelli preparati dal locale. Gradevole l'area esterna (dove sono accolti anche i cani), al pari della veranda panoramica e della sala. Conto adeguato (non economico, ma neppure eccessivo) ai piatti ed ai locali. Se in zona, consigliato.
